Dig Up the Sun Emperor's Legacy: I Build an Invincible Undead Legion-Chapter 82: You’re Asking for It!
Chapter 82: You’re Asking for It!
Behind them, the traitor group noticed the human squad had stopped.
Leading them were a man and a woman.
"Why did they stop?"
The woman, Shia, was bald, 6’6" tall, and built like a tank.
Most striking were her hands—completely black and giving off wisps of dark energy.
"Chase them! Let’s see what kind of tricks they’re trying to pull!"
The other man, Murr, had a normal build but eyes flashing with ice-cold killing intent.
The first wave of lost personnel had been his subordinates. This debt had to be paid back in blood!
...
At this moment, high in the sky above this area,
neither group noticed that a figure was quietly watching them.
Holding an alchemical telescope, he could see both groups clear as day.
"Those seven people up ahead, judging by their gear, should be a Psionic squad from Rock Sand City.
The dozens chasing them are most likely human traitors!"
Normal Psionics couldn’t possibly be chasing and killing so brazenly—they’d be worried about attracting monster groups’ attention.
"I definitely need to save them. It’s a perfect chance to find out what’s going on in Rock Sand City."
The dark mist areas divided human city-states into separate chunks, so communication between city-states wasn’t common.
For Carlos to learn news about Rock Sand City while in Ember City was pretty tough.
"At the same time, these human traitors can’t be allowed to get away either. Such a large group must be cooking up something big.
Worst case, like in the Withered Lands, a camp has already popped up!"
Thinking about the massive Spiritual Essence rewards from destroying camps, Carlos’s heart raced. If there was a camp, he had to squeeze the info out of them!
"A bit tricky. Desert terrain isn’t good for surrounding them."
Carlos calculated in his mind where to deploy his shield guards.
"Wait for them to go up the sand dune, then catch them all in one sweep!"
...
"Hehehe! Run! Why aren’t you running anymore!"
Shia flicked her tongue, making weird laughing sounds. Behind her, the large group of traitors followed suit.
"Hehe! They must be too scared to move their legs!"
"We’ll make them suffer real good in a bit!"
"Save me an eye—I want to collect it!"
"..."
The seven paid no attention, slowly backing up and gradually retreating over the dune top.
"What kind of game are you playing?"
Murr’s eyes were full of killing intent as he signaled a team of traitors to surround them.
Result... no one volunteered to step forward. They weren’t idiots—this clearly spelled trouble. Some even quietly stepped back a few paces.
After waiting several seconds with no volunteers, Murr cursed loudly:
"You! You! You! Go!"
The three people Murr pointed out were extremely reluctant, but fearing Murr’s brutal methods, their scalps crawling, they could only leave formation and slowly advance.
"What are you dragging your feet for! Move it!"
The three gritted their teeth and crossed the dune top. The thick monster tide in the distance came into view, with a meat-grinding battlefield below.
The three couldn’t care less about the Psionic squad. Their faces went white as sheets, legs turned to jelly, and they immediately ran back in retreat,
falling to their knees at Murr’s feet with several thuds.
"Boss... boss!"
"Below... below!"
"Big... big trouble!"
Murr pressed them:
"What’s wrong? What’s down there?
You three, spit it out!"
The traitors who went to scout said with shaking voices:
"Mon... monster tide..."
"Terrifying monsters!"
"Everywhere... dead... bodies!"
Thud! X3
Murr couldn’t stand it. Three kicks sent these useless goons flying, and he decided to go up himself.
"Everyone follow me up!"
With the boss leading, the traitors still had some backbone.
They climbed to the top of the giant hill, then...
All their faces went pale at once. They had never seen such a terrifying sight.
The thick, horrifying monster tide kept roaring and killing, making their scalps crawl.
Even more terrifying was that in the monster tide was a skeleton monster giving off overwhelming killing aura, grinding the approaching monsters around it into chunks of meat, like some kind of demon god.
As for the seven-person squad on the hillside, most traitors temporarily forgot about them.
"Hehehe, Murr, this situation is a bit screwy."
Shia’s expression was stone-cold. She felt a deadly threat from below.
"No kidding! Did you really need to point that out!"
Murr was hot-headed, his gaze locked on the scene below. He had never seen anything like this.
Hearing Murr’s snappy comeback, a dangerous light flashed in Shia’s eyes. She sneakily examined Murr’s hands with greedy eyes, deciding not to make a big deal of it for now.
While the traitors were shocked senseless, the seven-person squad had their Psionic Energy ready, prepared to fight tooth and nail at any moment.
Among them, the never-peaceful Sibel made a suggestion.
"Captain, look—they’re all stunned stupid. Should we attack while we’ve got the chance!"
"Stay sharp... it’s not smart to act recklessly right now!"
...
After the brief shock, the traitors finally remembered their main business and turned their attention to the human Psionics below.
"Kekeke, keep running!"
Murr grinned wickedly, slowly approaching.
"I’m going to freeze you into ice blocks one by one! Then smash you to pieces one by one!"
As he spoke, Murr’s right arm formed a thick layer of ice, freezing into long ice spikes pointing straight at the seven-person squad!
"If you’re not afraid of dying, go ahead and try!"
Captain Lezhe showed no fear. His body quickly expanded, thick wolf fur growing on his surface as he transformed into a powerful werewolf.
This was the Rangers’ werewolf transformation.
"You’re asking for it!"
The hot-tempered Murr immediately felt rage boil up in his chest. Just as the ice spikes on his right arm were about to shoot out and unleash his fury,
Shia beside him extended a black claw and blocked the ice spikes.
"What the hell are you doing!?"
Seeing Shia blocking his attack, veins bulged on Murr’s face. His right arm condensed another thick layer of ice, looking ready to strike if she didn’t give a damn good reason.
Shia tilted her neck, making crunching sounds. Her muscles bulged piece by piece as she spoke mockingly:
"Moron, fighting here—do you want to set off the monster tide below into a rampage?"
Reminded by this, Murr instinctively looked at the distant bloody, terrifying monster tide.
Especially at that brutal skeleton monster inside. He couldn’t help but feel chills run down his spine, but with anger stuck in his chest, he said with a red face:
"As long as we take them out before the monster tide chases us, there won’t be any problems!"
Shia knew this hothead couldn’t back down gracefully. She smiled coldly, stepped back, and stopped interfering.
Both sides faced off. Murr’s freezing ice spikes pointed below, while Captain Lezhe’s wolf fangs gleamed coldly, showing no signs of backing down.
Time quietly passed. Both sides confronted each other like this, neither daring to bet whether the violent monsters below would be drawn in by fighting.
At this moment, Murr was absolutely steamed inside. He had clearly driven this group of humans into a dead end but couldn’t make a move.
He glanced at Shia watching the show from the sidelines, feeling even more ticked off.
No matter what, once they got back to camp, he would definitely teach this guy a lesson they’d never forget!
