Devil Slave (Satan system)-Chapter 1232: Stab In The Back
Enel looked at Victor, "Tell me why."
Enel was very interested in getting an answer. The reason was that he could not believe that Victor of all people could betray him.
Victor had a tight bond with Lenny. And it was known that he loved a lot.
It was unthinkable that Victor of all people would join Lucifer.
What Enel did not know was that Victor had no choice in the matter.
Victor explained that it was inevitable. At the time, his wife had just died and he was in a very vulnerable state.
He needed someone to talk to, someone to listen. Of course, Vandora was there, but she was a hell beast and was in no way capable of understanding his situation.
What he needed was affection at a more human level.

But he had none. Besides, he could not open up to his children or the rest of his pack. He had to be their Alpha, an unbreakable leader.
But even he had a heart, and the loss of one’s mate was deeper than any blow.
One’s mate was more than just a life partner. Even within the pack, they were those who lost their partners and layer ended up committing suicide.
It was a connection, a pairing at a more spiritual level, and healing from such a tear needed more attention.
Perseus was there, but like Victor, there were matters in the rest of creation that needed his hands.
He was just too occupied to be there for his friend.
And in this state of loneliness, the whispers of the Morningstar star arrived.
At first, they were faint, coming through the Lenny royal family mark.
Somehow, at the point of destruction, when Lenny had sent that message to his followers, the Morningstar had also sent a wisp of his will.
It was only a little, but this had been the will of the first fallen, finding one with a heavy heart was its purpose and while the others were isolated or too busy to notice, Victor’s heavy heart was being courted by the Morningstar.
Victor on all his capabilities should have been a le to defend against it, but the Morningstar’s words came in a very familiar voice.
It came in that of his loving dead wife.
Becoming the Morningstar’s vassal had not been forced.
A whisper here and a very great promise there and it was so.
Enel took a long deep look at Victor, "Tell me... what was it? What did he promise you?"
Victor replied, "My wife..."
Those words shocked Enel as it did the others.
Perseus could no longer hold back and immediately spoke up, "so you were more willing to give up your king, your pack, all because of..."
"...It is broken Perseus." Victor interrupted him, "it is broken. The wheel of rebirth is broken. I don’t know how, and I don’t know when, but my best guess is around the time Lenny died. And without it, the souls cannot experience rebirth... you must understand, I had no choice. It was either this or eternal suffering for her."
On hearing the wheel of rebirth and how it connected to him, Enel frowned a bit.
As Enel and Victor spoke, the air was shattered by a sudden, deafening explosion that resounded across the room. The ground trembled violently, causing dust to fall from the ceiling and cracks to snake along the walls. Everyone froze, their eyes darting around in confusion.
"What was that?" Perseus demanded, his voice sharp and filled with alarm.
Before anyone could respond, Commander Kael shot to his feet. His eyes locked on the glowing device strapped to his arm. The screen flashed an ominous crimson, accompanied by urgent, pulsing alarms. Kael’s jaw tightened as he took in the readings, his face darkening.
"We’re under attack!" he bellowed, his voice cutting through the chaos.
Gasps erupted around the room, and a wave of tension rippled through the gathered crowd. These seasoned werewolf commanders exchanged uneasy glances.
"By who?" Perseus asked sharply, his green eyes narrowing as he turned to Kael.
Kael’s face was grim, his expression like stone. "Fallen angels," he growled, the words carrying the weight of his dread.
Perseus’s head snapped toward Victor, fury blazing in his eyes. "You traitor!" he roared, his voice echoing like thunder.
With a crackle of emerald energy, Perseus launched himself at Victor, his fists alight with green lightning that crackled like an angry storm. The attack was swift and ferocious, but Victor was ready.
With a fluid motion, Victor raised his obsidian claws. The black talons shimmered in the dim light, emanating a sinister energy. When Perseus’s lightning met Victor’s claws, the impact sent a shockwave through the room, knocking over chairs and sending loose objects flying.
Victor smirked, his expression calm despite the ferocity of the assault. "Is that all, Perseus?" he taunted, his voice cold and mocking.
As Perseus recoiled, Victor waved his hand, and the air itself seemed to ripple in response. Dark slashes, razor-sharp and imbued with a chilling aura, materialized from the void. They hissed through the air like vipers, each aiming for Perseus with lethal precision.
Perseus twisted, his reflexes honed from countless battles, narrowly dodging the first two slashes. But the third grazed his shoulder, leaving a faint, glowing line of black energy that sizzled against his armor. He gritted his teeth, glaring at Victor with unyielding rage.
"Enough!" Tomato’s voice cut through the tension. She turned to Kael, her face stern but tinged with urgency. "What about the shield protecting the city?"
Kael shook his head, his tone grim. "It’s down. They’ve breached it."
Marian’s eyes widened. "What about the outer defenses?" voice grew heavier with each word. "Compromised. The cannons, the turrets… all offline."
"The legs?" Marian pressed, desperation creeping into her voice. "The crab legs that allow the city to move—what about them?"
"They’re disabled," Kael replied, his expression hollow. "We’ve been completely exposed."
A heavy silence fell over the room, punctuated only by the distant rumble of explosions. The commanders, who had once radiated confidence, now looked to each other, their expressions betraying the stark realization of their vulnerability.
Marian’s voice was a whisper, barely audible. "How… how could this happen?"
Kael’s gaze shifted to Victor, his face contorted with both fury and disbelief. "It was all under his command," he said bitterly. "He’s the alpha of this city. He knew every system, every protocol. And now he’s betrayed us."
Perseus snarled, his emerald lightning flaring again as he readied another attack. "I’ll end you for this, Victor!"
But before he could act, Enel raised a hand, his gesture sharp and commanding. "Stand down, Perseus," he said, his voice calm yet carrying an undeniable authority.
Perseus hesitated, the lightning dimming in his fists. "Why?" he demanded, his voice cracking with frustration. "You saw what he’s done!"
Enel stepped forward, his dark eyes fixed on Victor. "Because this isn’t over," he said, his tone measured but resolute. "Not yet..."
