DEVIANT-Chapter 408 - Saved by Eve
408 Saved by Eve
Wam!
Alex and Danny opened their eyes only to see a horrifying scene of endless lava and fire surging viciously. They frowned and groaned as they sat up and only now did they realize the scene has been the same as the one they have been receiving every time they were called by Eve.
As they were still dealing with this piece of information they were soon hit by the reality of what happened a few seconds ago.
They lost to the commandment of love and almost lost their lives. If Eve didn’t reach out to them it would have ended with the death of the duo. Their bodies shivered as they looked toward the sky. Their advantages of the status of a sin were overwhelming but in the presence of a commandment it meant nothing.
Unfortunately, they had to learn this the hard way.
They were used to fighting those above them in level but against Eros, it wasn’t so pleasant. Their only advantage was their numbers which didn’t even count for much. It was like they were forced to see themselves as the old god and even now they were forced to understand the way their enemies have always felt.
“We lost?” Alex looked Danny in the eye with genuine surprise in his eyes.
He has considered so many possible outcomes with most of them leaving them crippled or in dire situations yet never did it occur to him, the greatest defeat in his life will happen in a fight where he actually had help and outnumbered the enemy.
“Of course you lost, did you really think you had a fifty percent chance against him? The one you had the lowest chance of winning against has always been Eros” Eve’s voice rang in their ears drawing their attention to the lady standing at the edge of this volcanic mountain. The duo frowned as they realized they were in the middle of a fierce war taking place ?ow, leaving them greatly distressed.
.....
“Remain calm, the war has not been lost!” A cold voice rang from the other side of the field, dragging the attention of the duo.
At the other end of the mountain was a mighty man over seven feet tall with a muscular build and a cold look in his eyes. His attire was similar to that of the Olympian gods but black and his hair was a combination of black and red color.
“Hades?” Alex and Danny were stunned.
Eve and Hades were characters from two different religions back then when they were on earth. To think they had reached the level where they could live amongst myths and legends!
Bang!
The entire mountain shook violently but the duo remained unphased as they supervised the battle taking place below with stern looks.
It was obvious things were not looking too good.
“The apple of knowledge spawned in a realm known as Hallow mountain, homes to guardians of the mortal realm. We tried to retrieve it but it seemed we had a mole amongst us” Eve explained and looked even fiercer as she spoke the last sentence.
“Yaka, that bastard” Hades sneered with a fierce look.
Who would have thought the one that would betray them would be one of his subordinates because of that they lost the apple of knowledge and were thrown into this dire situation.
“What is so important about this apple?” Danny asked with a raised eyebrow and the duo shot him strange glances as if he asked a stupid question.
Then their eyes shifted to realization, as they soon understood that these two were only new gods.
“The apple of knowledge is the one I stole from the tree of knowledge. It allows one capable of assimilating all knowledge in this world including abilities” Eve explained.
“Whoever wields it will most likely become the most powerful weapon this world has to offer,” Eve said coldly as immense regret could be seen in her eyes.
Seeing this, Alex and Danny realized things had gotten far more complicated than many think.
They looked at Hades who also wore a dire look on his face, leaving Danny silent and dumbstruck.
The demon lords needed them or they may actually lose this war, this is why a being as powerful as Eve took the initiative to reach out to them.
Should the demon lords lose so early on, they will be greatly affected too. At this moment, Alex and Danny understood that this fight was also a fight for their survival as well. As of this moment, they realized why they must treat this as if it was their problem as well.
“You cannot be serious!” Danny protested as the thought crossed his mind.
The battlefield was already filled with the core important figures. Intervening was not something they can do with their current level of strength. Right now they can only rely on Eve to give them a much easier but more important task.
Danny didn’t want to be given a huge burden for a goal he does not even believe in. He felt this would ruin whatever it is he has managed to come plans they have come up with their past few days as Co-gods.
“We don’t have a choice… if we wish to survive, we must act as well,” Alex said with a deep frown.
He finally understood the situation and saw no reason in denying it. Ignoring a problem doesn’t solve it. They can use their spatial core and leave but things were not as simple as many think.
Right now, he stood there in the distance with a calm look and an indifferent face. He understood their situation and saw no more reason to speak on irrelevant issues.
Turning to Eve, he let out a light chuckle, before shoving his hands into his pockets and finally speaking up.
“What do we need to do?” Alex asked.
“I wish I could say it simply but I have an even more important task to deal with than retrieving the apple,” Eve said calmly, leaving Alex stunned.
A task even more important than retrieving the apple?
