Depraved Hero's Path: Enslaved Monster Girl Harem In The Apocalypse!-Chapter 48: Undying Archives Of Old: Let The Games Begin!
Chapter 48 - Undying Archives Of Old: Let The Games Begin!
"The King's Crown, huh?" Rifna muttered. "Of course, the slaver would choose such a Relic." She sighed.
"You can attack me all you want, cuteness still wins. Your words don't hurt me at all."
'They get along well.' Zarath thought with a confused face.
"Unfortunately," Rifna held her chin with a hand. "That Relic isn't on display."
"True. It wasn't there. Its place was empty, and there was information about it."
"Well, that answers that, doesn't it?"
"No," Elijah answered. "It's not uncommon for exposed pieces to be moved. Whether it's for maintenance or other reasons. It not being there doesn't necessarily mean that it has already been claimed by someone."
Rifna remained silent for a bit.
"A troublesome Relic for a troublesome person ... Requires a troublesome Game♪"
"Bring it on." Elijah smirked.
Rifna snapped her fingers, and everything around them changed.
"Some kind of vault?" He whispered.
"Master." Zarath called out while pulling on his sleeve. She pointed high above.
"There you are." Elijah grinned.
The King's Crown was shining golden as it floated high up in the air, close to the ceiling.
"Finally," A voice that Elijah didn't recognize echoed. "The Black King arrives."
Elijah's gaze studied the bald man's appearance swiftly.
"There are only two of them?"
"Good for us."
"Yeah, but I feel kinda bad at the same time-"
A translucent Barrier suddenly appeared, cutting the room in two.
As if being frozen, it slowly turned into an ice-like mirror.
"Can't see them anymore." Zarath whispered.
Rifna grinned at Elijah and Zarath.
"The battle for the crown, huh?" He smirked.
"That's right♪" Rifna hummed. "Only four Relics here require Party-play. The King's Crown is one of them."
"Why separate us then?" Zarath questioned.
"Well, that's not exactly part of the Dungeon." Rifna scratched her head. "I just wanted the Slaves to make their own choices. Since you accepted that quickly without giving conditions or orders, I guess you didn't end up like the kind of slaver I expected. Sorry about that, hehe."
System messages appeared in front of Elijah.

...]
"I can wait for them to be done with the Games, right?"
"You can♪"
"I assume they will get extra Rewards, since they would be participating in two Games."
"It would be the King's job to decide who gets what, or if they get anything at all♪"
"Ha. I like that." Elijah chuckled. "Did their Games start yet?"
"No, not just yet. Close enough to starting that they're unavailable though, in my humble opinion.
"You can see them."
"Of course♪"
"Can we watch?" Elijah asked. "Can you get us that couch again?"
"You're getting real comfortable, huh?" Rifna snapped her fingers, and the couch appeared behind Elijah and Zarath.
The latter remained standing with a frown. It was obvious that she was thinking about something.
"Zarath." Elijah called out as he gently took hold of her wrist. "Sit."
"Master..." She muttered.
He pulled her closer, and Zarath sat so close to him that she was basically sticking to his arm.
"What is it?" Elijah asked.
"Well... The place is too clean. Just like the streets we crossed to get here."
"You mean that something has been cleaning up like I was. That girl said no one who had entered the museum had left it."
"Yes. The Guide cleaning up the museum isn't so strange but... Because I am a Succubus, I can tell."
"What can you tell?"
"The Relics. I'm pretty sure that..." Zarath raised her gaze towards the King's Crown floating above. "Losing leads to being absorbed by the Relic."
"Hm."
"Losing will drain you of your strength, while strengthening the Relic."
"Not exactly♪" Rifna hummed, obviously eavesdropping on them.
"It doesn't strengthen the Relic." Elijah said after thinking for a moment. "It replenishes the strength and Mana that it used up during the Game."
"Correct♪"
"In that case, we have to be careful." Zarath said, pulling down on Elijah's sleeve. "I'm saying this for you, Master. Maybe we shouldn't stay here and wait for them. If they lose, they will die."
"What should we do then?" Elijah asked. "Interference is prohibited."

"It is." Rifna nodded. "I won't let anyone interfere with a Game they have no business in."
"But my Slaves rely on me." Elijah said. "Doesn't the System see them like property? As such, I should have the right to interfere."
"Dropping the S-word when it suits you, huh?" Rifna chuckled. "The System and I are different entities. I control things as I see fit here."
"So there's nothing I can do."
"Exactly♪"
"Well, in that case..." Elijah relaxed back into his seat. "Since you can see them, can we watch as well?"
"For a price."
"Name it."
"500 Achievement Points."
"Done."
[500 Achievement Points have been deducted.]
"You're lucky prices are low due to only one Main Quest having passed."
"So prices will increase with each Main Quest that passes." He turned towards Zarath. "Just like the limitations on your strength will be lessened with each Main Quest that passes."
"Hm." Zarath nodded. "As such spending Achievement Points now is wiser, Master."
"Right."
The next second, Rifna snapped her fingers twice in quick succession.
"Complimentary drinks."
"Thank you." Elijah said as he grabbed the soda can. "Though they're the same ones you got us earlier, we just ended up leaving them there."
The second snap caused three screens to appear on the ice-mirror.
"It seems that Léa will get started first♪"
"You're showing Léa despite her not being part of the Party."
"She is part of your Party. As I said, I just wanted to separate the Slaves from you, and from each other."
"Aha. You didn't have to make up an excuse though. Should have just told me."
"Well..." Rifna rubbed her hands together. "I guess I can be shy at times, and feel the need to make up excuses."
'This is bad.' Zarath thought to herself. 'Well, bad for Léa. I couldn't care less.' She nodded.
"Well, then." Rifna walked over to them and took a seat on the couch. "Let's watch together, huh?"
"Sure." Elijah answered, seated between a Cat Girl and a Succubus. "Let's watch the Games."
