Katherine's eyes were wide, not as she read the messages, but as she suddenly could feel the foreign energy that resided inside of her better. From one moment to the next, she became able to sense this energy called Mana. It was a very strange feeling, developing a sixth sense all of a sudden.

"Was it worth it, Katherine?" Marianne asked.

"I'm a New Magus." Katherine shrugged. "Epic Grade."

"Hm..." Marianne scratched her chin with narrow eyes. "Is it worth taking Elijah's money, though?"

"I think it would be worth it." He nodded.

"Of course you would say that. I would be paying you interest!" Marianne sighed, before raising her gaze to the sky with a slight frown.

"What is it?" Léa

"Nothing." Marianne shook her head. "I think it might rain or something."

Elijah walked closer to Katherine.

"Some things you want to try out?"

"Yes." Katherine asked with a shy smile. "I think I'll be more useful now." She nodded.

"Aha." Elijah chuckled as he patted her head. "You were plenty useful before that as well."

"Hm... If you say so..." She pressed her lips together. "Elijah, I..."

"You want to see your girls, right?" He peeked into the distance, and they were indeed waiting for her. "Go ahead. We'll be waiting for you here."

Katherine slowly nodded and started walking away.

'We... Didn't really talk about what we're doing after this, did we? I mean... Are we sticking together? He said he would help Marianne get home, but what happens after that? Should I ask?' Katherine scratched her head as she walked. 'Hm.'

Elijah gave an order telepathically, and the Slave walked closer.

"You're not going to be troublesome, are you, Chief?" Elijah asked the huge monstrosity.

"Who's troublesome?!"

"Just take my money, will ya?"

"It's not money. They're points."

"Well, your score kinda sucks so just take them."

"You're so much nicer when Katherine is around!" Marianne pointed. "I'm not taking your money! It's so obvious that there are strings attached, vig or no vig!"

"Well, duh." Elijah shrugged, taking the Basic Wooden Staff and the Basic Bat from the Chimera named Chief.

"So you're not denying it?!"

"Of course not. I don't mind sharing my stuff, as long as we're going to stick together. It's called investing in your..."

"Slaves?"

"Companions." Elijah corrected, despite the fact that Marianne wasn't exactly wrong.

"So you'll only invest if we're your loyal and devoted Slaves forever and ever?"

"You're starting to get it." Elijah answered with a grin. "Keep the Bat, should help ya."

Chief took back the Wooden Bat.

"So which one of you controls... You?" He asked, staring at the Chimera. "Are you a whole different Monster, or are you a mix of the three? I mean internally, you know?"

"Does it even matter?" Marianne sighed.

"I think it does." Léa nodded. "It's an important fact that could have repercussions in the future. If the three are now one, that would mean that their souls were mixed together. If it's a whole different creature, then either a fourth soul was placed into it, or a new soul was born from the body... Obviously, the concept of the soul isn't scientific, but the magic has been introduced in the world. It would be important to know if souls exist." She explained.

"If three souls were mixed into one, that implies magic that can fuse souls." Elijah continued. "If there is magic that can fuse souls, then there's magic that can impact the soul in different ways, like attacking it, or breaking it."

"Huh..." Marianne frowned. "Even if the souls are mixed, it could have lost memories from before. In the first place, mixing the three means creating a new one. The soul doesn't necessarily include memories. Memories are stored in the body."

"Hahahaha!" Zarath laughed out loud after listening to them. "I can answer if you want, Master~"

"Ew, stop calling him that."

"What's wrong with calling my Master what he is?"

"Ew."

Zarath frowned and turned in Elijah's direction.

"I don't like this brat."

"Welcome to the club."

"...!"

Meanwhile, Katherine had gone to her gymnastic students.

At the beginning of all this, her goal had been to protect her students.

Now, she was thinking about leaving them?

Katherine couldn't quite decide what to do.

'I would have died back then. He saved me, as well as the others. I owe him. We owe him. More importantly, I want to stay with him. I want to be with Elijah. But...'

While her scared and confused students talked, Katherine zoned out with a complicated expression.

Ever since the Apocalypse started, she has been plagued by visions of her father.

'Tsk...'

Surrounded by her students, those memories floated to the surface of her mind more clearly.

Her father, too, was a gymnastics coach. Many students of his went on to win medals and stand on countless podiums.

Katherine was his daughter, and his student.

'Just...' She frowned. 'What am I doing here?'
