'Oh, Master~' Zarath's blushing only intensified as more orders were given to her telepathically.

As the crowd started panicking, unable to choose a direction to run towards, the Boss Monsters got closer and closer.

"The spectacle is brought to you by Marianne!" The Succubus shouted with a joyous tone. "Unfortunately, we couldn't make this more flashy since Marianne needs to go home. Remember this, okay? Marianne is going home!"

'What the fuck?' Marianne frowned, just one of the 800+ faces surrounding Zarath.

"Repeat after me, Marianne is going home!" The Succubus said with a wink.

The confused crowd couldn't help but whisper those same words.

'What's happening to me? Those Monsters are approaching! Why am I focused on her?!'

Zarath clapped her hands and started walking towards the edge of the open space at the center of the crowd.

Fearing the chains delimiting that perimeter, the crowd didn't dare get close to that area.

"Now, make some space!" She ordered, and the crowd was immediately filled with horror.

The Goblin Chief slammed its Wooden Bat as it ran towards them.

The panicked students did their best not to scream or shout, as that would attract the Goblin Chief's attention to them, and, as silently as they managed, stepped away instead, leaving a path for the Goblin Chief to approach that open space.

Those on the opposite side couldn't hold in their scream and shouts as the eight-meter-long crocodile moved towards them, jaws snapping. Moving with its movement speed unexpected to be seen in a semiaquatic animal, many stumbled, fell, and were forced to crawl away as the Boss Monster approached.

The Black Wolf, being the fastest and stealthiest of the bunch, was only noticed by half of the people standing in its way. Its superior Agility allowed it to side step and dodge the airheads that hadn't noticed it, before leaping into the air, passing both a group of people and the chains that floated in the air forming a circle.

Katherine's eyebrows rose as all three Boss Monsters moved beyond the crowd and entered the circle.

"You're..." She whispered, holding onto Elijah's arm. "You're trying to..."

Katherine went silent as Elijah held an index finger to his mouth. Her gaze moved to study the crowd around her.

"The Boss Monsters are..."

"We were supposed to defeat these things?!"

"Just what is happening here?!"

The students stared with wide eyes as the Boss Monsters faced off, forming a triangle of shrieking, growling, and howling.

An almost visible shiver seemed to pass through the crowd. Their hearts started beating faster than before, yet their fear had lessened. Their arms were twitching, not trembling. Their lips quivered as they slowly went silent, their eyes focused on the scene that seemed to be approaching.

And once not even a whisper could be heard, once the tension was at its peak

At a glance, he seemed no different than any other. One in the crowd of 800+ people stared with cold eyes as his lips curled upwards.

'Kill each other.' Elijah ordered telepathically.

The Wooden Bat was slammed, the long and thick tail was swept, the sharp fangs were shown, and the Wooden Staff was raised.

The Black Wolf was silent and stealthy as it leapt in the Goblin Chief's direction. The latter had its Basic Wooden Staff aimed at the Swamp Crocodile.

A Fire Ball was fired, and the crowd stared with wide eyes, unsure whether to keep watching or run away!

"There really is..."

The Swamp Crocodile swept its tail to draw an arc, causing it to smash into the Fire Ball.

As the Swamp Crocodile growled, its tail covered by black smoke, the Black Wolf's fangs took hold of the Basic Wooden Staff.

Caught by surprise, the Goblin Chief was too late to react, and the weapon fell from its hand!

The Black Wolf launched the Basic Wooden Staff away and growled menacingly!

Katherine pressed her lips together, and, ever so slowly, let her head descend to rest against Elijah's arm.

"What about you?" She asked. "Which one do you think will win?"

"I really can't say." Elijah answered with a chuckle.

A moment later, Zarath raised her arms high above her head and clapped her hands.

"Three-to-One!" She shouted. "Bets are Three-to-One!"

Katherine puffed her cheeks and turned in Elijah's direction with a slight frown.

"What? Don't blame a guy for trying to make some money."

"Wait, seriously? Three-to-one?" Marianne leaned in there direction, whispering. "I know this is for the spectacle and all, but why make it like this? Three-to-One makes it fair. Bet costs 1, payout is 3. It should have been Two-to-one if you wanted to make some money."

Katherine and Elijah exchanged a look.

"She's cute, isn't she?"

"Of course, she is." Katherine chuckled. "She's my dear student, after all."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Marianne frowned.

'You're forgetting something.' Elijah told her telepathically, causing her to sigh.

"Oooof course." Marianne crossed her arms. "Of course."

"I feel kind of bad about it..." Katherine whispered.

"Just this once can't hurt." Elijah chuckled.

Zarath clapped her hands again.

"The Base Reward for the Main Quest is 50 Achievement Points! We'll accept bets on those Points as well! You'll pay once the Quest is Cleared, or just receive money without paying anything!"

'That basically makes it free money, right?'

'I don't pay anything if I win, and if I lose... Well, it's money I don't have now anyways.'

'If I win, then I will have 150. If I lose, I have 0. If I don't participate, I have 50... The odds are in my favor!'
