"So..."
The first candidate walked through the doors.
'What...?'
Elijah was seated with his legs and arms crossed.
In front of him, a folded sheet of paper on which the words "Admissions Office" had been written clumsily with a red marker.
"What brings you here?"
'What do you mean, what brings me here? Isn't it obvious? What is it?'
Elijah brought his hands together.
"What makes you suitable for this position? Why should our team take you in? Give me three of your best qualities, and three of your worst."
"I... Um... I..."
"Our team isn't just a team." Elijah explained. "We're more like... A big family. Why should we take you into our family?"
"Well, I'm uh... I'm really... Glad to be given this opportunity?"
"Alright, get out."
"Huh?"
"Get out. Fucking hell. Not even a chuckle or something? Do you have a stick up your ass? Get out of here."
***
"What brings you here?"
"I'm a Psychology student and I'm pursuing a Master's in-"
"I don't give a shit. Get out."
***
"Why should we take you into our family?"
"I really want the healing perk thing. Other than that, I would rather let the men do the work. I'm just really focusing on getting into my feminine energy and-"
"GET OUTTT!"
***
"What makes you suitable for this position?
"I'm smart, knowledgeable, and I think quickly on my feet."
"Yeah? Give me some thoughts then."
"About what's happening? Hm. I thought what you said about Boss Monsters was interesting. Having to seek them out. This is the First Main Quest, so it feels like a second Tutorial, I guess? For the first one, the Monsters came to us, now we have to go to them."
"Why didn't you then?"
"Excuse me?"
"Why didn't you go?"
"Peer pressure."
"I see."
"Also because I'm scared."
"Nothing wrong with being scared."
"Yes... But I want to fight. To understand things. The world as we knew it has changed."
"That's right. Only strength matters now. Except if this is a prank and everything goes back tomorrow by night."
"I wouldn't count on that. It's likely that a new world order will be instated. Yes, one where the strong make the decisions. In fact, it's possible that only the strong gets to survive."
"The strong are strong because they got strong. Everyone has a chance here."
"Yes, I suppose. The Tutorial did base Rewards on Achievements. As such, actions lead to Rewards and strength. This way, we all start in the same place, kind of."
"Right." Elijah nodded. "How many more are outside waiting?"
"A couple... Maybe ten?"
"I see." Elijah pointed behind him. "In any case, approved. Follow the... Corridor or whatever."
"Alright."
"What's your name?" He asked as she walked past him.
"Léa." She answered while adjusting her glasses. "What about you?"
"Elijah will do."
"I see... Also, um... This might be a bit rude..."
"Get on with it. People are still waiting."
"I um... I don't think you're from the military."
"Why do you say that?"
"The lack of uniform for one. The lack of um... Military manners?"
"Aha."
"Also..." Léa's yellow eyes seemed to shine for a moment. "I was convinced from the start that neither the police nor the military would come."
"Is that so?"
"Yes."
"Care to elaborate?" Elijah turned around, and Léa felt that it was the first time he was getting a proper look at her.
"Well, my assumption is based on the fact that both the Main Quest and the Tutorial Quest had Ranks."
Elijah's lips curled upwards.
"You're doubly approved!"
"So, I'm right?"
"You're right, I'm not from the military."
"No, I meant my assumption about the Ranks?"
"Continue."
"Because we're told what Rank our First Main Quest is and that we were told the Rank of the Tutorial Quest, it's likely that not all First Main Quests have the same Rank."
"And that not all Tutorial Quests have the same Rank." Elijah muttered, his gaze darkening for a moment.
"Hm." Léa nodded. "If that's the case, then locations like police stations and military bases that are full of weapons will likely get much more difficult Quests to Clear."
"Yes, that is likely."
"Alright... So, I just go that way?"
"Yep. We'll talk more later."
"O-Okay!"
***
"What brings you here?"
"Marianne let me-"
"And that was a fucking mistake."
"Alright... Um... Should I leave?"
"Yes, please."
***
"Give me three of your best qualities, and three of your worst."
"Is this a job interview?"
"Welcome to being a wage slave. Now, answer the question."
"I'm honest, hard-working, and just. As for my three worst, um... I really can't think of-"
"Get out."
"..."

"So what I think is that we should have Tanks at the front, close-range damage dealers behind those Tanks, and Support-Types behind everyone."
"Aha." Elijah uttered before letting out a yawn.
"Yes! That way, it's optimal."
"Are you a Tank?"
"No...? I mean, I don't think so?"
"Are you a close-range damage dealer?
"No, like I said-"
"Are you a Support-type?"
"I'm not any of those things."
"Then who gives a fuck? How are we supposed to implement something like that in the first place?"
"Well, we can't implement it yet but-"
"Get out."
"Huh?"
"Just get out. Not one strain of originality in that idea. What the fuck am I supposed to do with that? You're talking to a military colonel about this shit when it's the most basic of basic shit."
"F-Fine. You'll regret not taking me!"
"Yeah, alright."
***
She took off her black baseball cap.
"So I got here late and I'm not too sure what-"
"Give me three of your best qualities, and three of your worst."
"Three of my best qualities..." The pink-haired girl whispered. "I'm very pretty, I'm hot, and I-"
"Approved!" Elijah interrupted.

Admission interviews, over!
Number of admitted recruits: 2.
Sex of admitted recruits: F.
"So, Elijah."
"Yes, Marianne."
"That was the last of them."
"I see."
"You chose two girls."
"I did."
"Did you choose wisely?"
"Of course, I did."
"Did you ask for their age?"
"..."
"Did you?"
"..."
"So you didn't."
"Age really doesn't have anything to do with-"
"What did you think about that one?"
"Which one?" Elijah asked, his eyes narrowing.
"The pink-haired one. I got a bad feeling from her and thought you should see her. She entered the auditorium and walked up to the crowd. I doubt she even knows what you're doing here. There's something creepy about her?"
"You think?"
"Yeah. What did she tell you? Anything important?"
"She enumerated her best qualities, and I thought she would be a really good addition to the team."
"I assume those qualities don't involve her face, tits, and figure." Marianne chuckled.
"..."
"Wait, they do?"
"..."
"YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS?!"
