Demon Tamer's Ascension-Chapter 31: A Weird Encounter
They couldn’t move. Both of them stopped, not because they wanted to, but because their muscles weren’t following Cassie and Alex’s demands.
Alex tried pulling through the force; he was ready to stab her, but she looked at him, dumbfounded.
"Give it up," Cassie muttered, "There’s no point in trying."
The kitchen door was left wide open, much more than before. Alex studied the figure who walked slowly up to both of them, then just randomly stopped.
----------------------------------
[Demon Encountered]
[Victoria Marshall]
[Demon Core]
└ B-Rank → Arch Demon
[Family]
└ 4th Degree (Highest tier for someone with no aristocrat blood)
[Gender Type]
└ Female
----------------------------------
’A Demon,’ Alex whispered, ’She sure looks like one.’
The supposed [Demon] Alex encountered wasn’t the same as how Victor looked. Well, it was honestly quite similar. The only difference was how big and large Victor was in comparison with the [Arch Demon] who stood before Alex, Victoria Marshall.
Two legs, two arms, one body, a simple but horrific face, and two thorns sticking out of her skin. She was cascaded in a dark, crystallized material all over; her eyes, however, had a calm, purple, menacing glow.
Everything about Victoria Marshall screamed out Demon.
Although she was only about Alex’s height, which surprised him. Considering the time he met Victor, which was the size of an entire city building in comparison with him, this meeting felt much less like two enemies facing off and more like two friends having a great encounter.
But that just wasn’t the case, not after the full-blown out war Cassie and Alex had. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
He tried moving, but nothing was working; Alex simply couldn’t defy some stupid logic.
"I said, calm yourself, Alex Thorn." Victoria Marshall whispered, "My forged Demon Core is of much higher rank than yours; my intimidation works against your weak and fragile body."
She continued marching forward; behind her walked another creature, an enlarged animal.
That was Adoff, smiling like a king and as happy as ever.
Alex lowered his gaze. He saw Adoff and then calmed down, "What’s happening here?"
"Kill him, Marshall," Cassie declared, "Let me go, and I’ll do it. He knows your true form now. Don’t let him live and expose your surroundings."
Alex smiled, "Adoff, bite that Demon so I can loosen up."
"Calm down," Adoff’s voice came back in Alex’s head.
"What do you mean, ’Calm down,’ I’m about to die."
"Don’t worry, everything will be fine. You just have to listen."
Alex sighed, "Okay, go on, speak."
Victoria smiled, walking up towards Alex, then released an encircling glow of incredible amounts of power.
----------------------------------
[Warning!]
└ A First-Degree Arch Demon detected!
└ The user cannot handle anywhere close to that strength!
[RUN]
----------------------------------
Alex didn’t shiver; he just stared right at Victoria’s face.
She tapped on Alex’s head twice, as if he were a mere child, "Hey Victor," she called out loud, "Wake up!"
’She knows him...’
"Well, well, she caught me." Victor’s voice rang through Alex’s head, "Alex. Would it be fine if I just use your mouth to exchange a couple of words with a friend of mine?"
Alex didn’t hesitate, "Go ahead, I’m not doing anything useful as of now anyway."
Cassie angrily watched, "Kill him! He’s gonna report us!"
"Calm yourself," Victoria said, her expression slightly angered, "No need for selfish decisions, just stop."
Cassie looked away, as if she were a spoiled child. Both Alex and Cassie remained wrapped in one, seeming like an inescapable invisible force where they couldn’t even budge.
----------------------------------
[Contractual Rule #3]
└ If the user allows their following contracted Demon to take over their body movements, the Demon is allowed to take control of Alex Thorn’s body for a total of 1 minute every 24 hours. He would also be enabled to use Alex’s same skills he’s earned, but not the tamed beasts.
[Timer Starting Now...]
----------------------------------
Alex stood warped in an endless, empty plain of black, pinched blood, ’Is this how Victor has to live?’ Alex thought, ’I would be bored by the first hour, let alone two weeks.’
Once Alex allowed Victor to take over, he could see absolutely nothing but endless black. He couldn’t even overhear the conversation outside. Alex was alone, while Victor and Victoria, who claimed they were acquaintances, spoke to one another, as if they were friends.
----------------------------------
[Transferring Adoff Back...]
[Successfully transferred Adoff to the system habitat’s interface!]
----------------------------------
Once the user’s consciousness fades, so does his beast. Because now, a new creature took over and spoke proudly.
"How long has it been?" Victor asked, Alex’s mouth moved while Victor made each decision, "It’s been too long, Victoria, hasn’t it?"
"Cut the chase." She stammered, "Why would you ever form a contract with a human? You know exactly what that could bring."
"He’s different," Alex sneered, "I know him too well, he’ll make change."
"That’s what you always said when we were kids," Victoria stomped harshly on the floor, menacingly walking up towards Alex’s body, "Yet, you couldn’t change a damn thing. And you left me stranded on Noctra, where my line was tarnished."
"I see, must’ve been rough."
"You take this too lightly," She said, "Show at least some remorse, for my sake at least."
Victor raised Alex’s arms in surrender and smiled gently. "Calm down, I’m clearly trying to. But how did you know this? How did you know I contracted a human?" He sighed, "I thought I did a pretty good job trying to conceal my presence."
"The moment I sniffed that tamed grey wolf’s fur, I sensed your energy surrounding it. which was also the reason I didn’t bother touching it after it evolved." She paushed, exhaling calmly, "I was simply asking questions over and over again, and just told him to nod if it’s a yes, and not if it’s a no. He was a very honorable wolf to be honest, and was the reason..."
The tension rose slightly, and Cassie watched the entire conversation, confused as to why they were catching up as if they were both actually childhood friends.
"He was the reason I didn’t kill Alex on the spot."
"You wouldn’t have," Victor chuckled, "Because I would’ve interfered."
