Demon Slayer: Rise of The First Werewolf-Chapter 46: Full Moon Curse (3)
The scent had disappeared as soon as Adrain caught it, he got out of the car and went in the direction it came from.
The track led him deep into the woods, he sniffed the air again and caught the scent and followed it.
Deeper and deeper he went until he found himself in front of a waterfall that was 50 metres tall.
The water fell like a white curtain, the scent was stronger now, while still faint it was stronger than before, he was able to catch it with his high sense of smell.
It was coming from behind the waterfall, his eyes focused and turned silver. He saw a cave behind the waterfall.
He used one of his ocular abilities that allows him to see through solid walls, the ability worked similar to heat vision.
The cave was cold, there were no signs of life inside. Adrain kicked the ground and jumped over 20 metres.
He crosses the small lake and went through the waterfall into the cave. He walked a few metres inside then came out to a larger cavern.
" Shit." He cursed, inside the cave were dark grey cocoons hanging from the roof with some littering the floor.
These cocoons were large enough to encompass a fully grown cow. They were pulsing like hearts.
Without a second thought he turned around and ran out. He ran back to the car as fast as the wind.
" Drive." He told Sam who looked confused by his actions. Sam started the car and drove off.
After Adrain had left, inside the cave, black fog appeared and it turned into a pitch black cat with grass green eyes.
The house sized cat looked around the cave then disappeared into a puff of black smoke like it had never been there.
After both of them left, one of the cocoons cracked slightly.
In the car, Adrain dialed Meggie’s number but it sent him straight to voicemail. " Is everything okay?" Sam asked.
Adrain nodded, " Probably, yeah." They drove in silence all the way to Lagos.
" This is where you’ll be living from now on." Adrain showed Sam around the house, the entire building belonged to Meggie.
There were a lot of spare rooms so they didn’t lack space. He gave Sam one of those rooms then left.
" Stay here, I’ll be back before sundown." He went out. Adrain went north of the city, this was the territory of the witches.
He looked for an enchanter shop and it didn’t take long to find one. The shop looked more like a jewellery store.
Which made sense, after all, witches couldn’t publicly sell magical items since by law, they were supposed to be unknown to the public.
" What can I help you with?" The young witch standing behind the counter asked with a smile.
Currently there were other people inside the store browsing through the jewellery, most were normal people.
" I’m looking for something a bit more specific." He answered and displayed his esper energy.
Meggie had told him this was he secret signal, a simple display of ones power. He was confused at first.
Since they can already tell he was a Fayera, why did he need to rouse his energy but her explanation made sense.
Sometimes, Fayera and Espara come to buy normal jewellery either with friends or partners who are ordinary.
Rousing ones power is a signal that they want magical items. The witch smiled at him, " Follow me."
She led him towards the back and another witch took her place attending to the other customers.
" What are you looking for specifically?" The witch asked.
" Enchanted silver, preferably chains or handcuffs and something sharp."
The witch nodded, " You’re hunting for something?" She asked then stopped herself.
She turned and bowed to him, " I’m sorry sir, you don’t need to answer that." It was a rule that they do not ask customers why they’re buying.
Adrian just nodded, he didn’t mind, of course he wasn’t going to tell her since this was a secret.
She led him to a basement through a spiraling staircase. The basement was significantly larger than one would expect.
It was an enchanted space that was larger on the inside. Adrian saw rows of enchanted items.
Most were made of crystals, some of enchanted gold and silver. Gold was the best normal metal for enchantment followed by silver.
Of course best meant it could create the strongest items but enchanting gold was not easy.
Behind it followed silver, not only was it cheaper but it was easier than gold to enchant while also creating strong effects.
That’s why most enchanted weapons were made of silver and not gold. It took some time but he found what he was looking for.
Two pairs of silver handcuffs that had a thick chain, runes were drawn all over the handcuffs.
Adrian felt his power being drained the moment he touched them, the effect was even worse on him.
The handcuffs were designed to suppress Esper energy and he was weak to silver making the effect double.
The other item was a short sword about 40 cm long. It was even stronger than the handcuffs.
Fortunately it was not designed to suppress anything but it was able to hurt even spirits which are intangible.
He paid a single black coin for the items, the coin was made from the roots of a black elk tree found only in the magical world beyond the veil.
Those roots were one of the few items that can be used as a shortcut to power, they can increase the esper energy of anybody regardless of their method of training.
To him, they had the same effect as consuming the hearts of magical beings, unfortunately the black elk tree was very rare.
He took the items and went back home, he set them up in one of the prison rooms in the basement.
Then he waited until night came without Meggie coming back. He took Sam to the basement.
Sam was nervous, " What are we doing here?" He asked.
" The moon is about to rise." Adrian answered but didn’t continue. Sam was still confused.
Before he could react, his body hit the wall and thick handcuffs bound his arms to the wall.
Sam was terrified then Adrian did the same to himself and waited. The moon rose and he felt himself losing his mind.
Then using telekinesis he stabbed the short sword into his heart. He roared from the mind numbing pain.
He felt himself losing strength then suddenly sensed a surge of power north of the city. " Is a witch leveling up." He asked but nobody answered.
The only other person in the room was screaming as his body started changing.
