Demon Hunter and His Cabin-Chapter 145 - Veronica’s Diary
Chapter 145: Chapter 145 Veronica’s Diary
“Gwent Card, what is that?”
Hathaway looked at Roger with a puzzled face.
“Divination is divination, everyone’s method might differ slightly, but the principles are more or less the same. Are you saying Gwent Cards are a special way of divination?”
Hathaway furrowed her brows and pondered for a moment.
“I’m sorry, I have never heard of it.”
Roger laughed it off, but he made up his mind to seize the opportunity to popularize Gwent Cards.
One might forgo staking or sword training, but how could one qualify as a Demon Hunter without playing cards?
Having just completed a divination session, Hathaway was somewhat exhausted. She rested briefly while Henrik and Roger took the initiative to carry out a second inspection of the entire villa.
“Come over here and look at this, what is this?”
Approaching midnight, Henrik’s voice suddenly came from Veronica’s room.
When Roger and his companion arrived, Henrik was holding a pink-covered diary, flipping through it.
“Where did you find it?”
Roger asked curiously.
Henrik casually pointed, and Roger saw a stack of lingerie sticking out from a half-open drawer.
His cheeks twitched for a moment.
Is this guy to be commended for his thoroughness… or?
Was he really looking through a diary, or something else?
They placed the diary on a table outside, and the three of them began to flip through it.
Veronica was clearly not diligent; she didn’t write in her diary every day, but due to recent events, she had recorded more frequently than before.
The earliest entry could be traced back to a month ago.
That must have been the first time she had the nightmare.
“Last night I had a nightmare, it was so real, I woke up in an empty room, there was nobody around, and I wandered through the house like a bystander.”
When I woke up the next day, there was some dust on the soles of my feet, which is really scary. Do I have a habit of somnambulism?
The whole villa has floors, which are cleaned regularly. If I were just wandering around my room, there’s no way my feet would get so much dirt and dust on them.
I found my own footprints on the lawn, no, I must see a doctor.
The diary was blank for the next day.
It seems like Veronica must have gone to see a doctor.
The diary continued after a day’s gap.
“That filthy old lecher, even tried to hypnotize me, I should have gouged out his eyes!”
“Son of a whore!!”
A whole string of curses followed, but then the same nightmare continued to descend.
“The same room, the same place, I’m half-asleep and half-awake in the dream, it’s too frightening, I can even clearly remember the number of crystal pendants on the chandelier, and touch the wooden grain of the floor.”
“Is this really just a dream?”
“Or is there something wrong with my mind?!”
Panic filled the lines.
I told my father about the recent situation, but he said nothing, just reminded me to rest well and not to go out and mess around at those pointless parties anymore.
I’m sure that I’m very sober, haven’t taken any drugs, but every midnight, I naturally fall asleep, and then wake up in the dream.
My mental condition has been deteriorating, this nightmare has tormented me almost to the point of madness, and I have tried everything to no avail.
If this continues, I’m afraid I might end up committing suicide from depression!
At this point in the diary, the paper had several holes poked through it; Veronica’s mental stability must have been very disturbed then.
Several days passed with no new entries in the diary.
Yet soon afterwards, the content of Veronica’s records started to change.
“I woke up from a dream again, but this time, I was wearing a pristine white wedding dress. Was I getting married?”
“There was still no one in the room. I left the villa barefoot, then opened the wine cellar below and pushed open a hidden secret door, revealing narrow stairs leading downwards.”
“If I was getting married, what was I doing here?”
The place was too dark to see anything, but my body wandered uncontrollably inside.
So cold.
I pushed something open. What was it?
A coffin?
Thank God, the dream finally ended!
I can’t go on like this. Better to die than suffer this torture.
I’ll make one last call to my father. If he doesn’t care, then I might as well die here.
“This Jofu is such a bastard!”
Hathaway couldn’t help but curse softly to herself, for although she was raised by her mother, her father had always been a tall and reliable man in her memory.
“We met, and besides giving money, he finally realized the problem’s nature.”
“He asked about what had happened, and a day later, introduced me to a strange woman.”
Ingmar.

A Demon Hunter, what is that?
This woman didn’t look old, but she was exceptionally strong and seemed very dependable. She moved into my villa. After some brief questioning, she thought the problem lay with the house itself.
An evil spirit was residing within.
She suggested that I temporarily move out. What other choice did I have? Honestly, I didn’t believe her because I had never encountered any ghosts here.
It was just an endless nightmare.
Turning to the next page, the diary entry was dated one day later.
“My God!”
“This is amazing. For the first time in a month, I didn’t have that awful nightmare!”
“It seems what she said was true.”
“Indeed, that house must be haunted, and it’s not livable anymore. I should sell it. No, that won’t do. I’m not short of money. There’s no need to harm others.”
At the end of the diary, Veronica even had the mood to draw a smiley face, indicating the nightmare that had tormented her for nearly a month was finally coming to an end.
Ingmar told me that the problem wasn’t completely solved. If we couldn’t find the root cause, the peace would only be temporary.
The evil spirit might continue to haunt me, and then, no matter where I went, I would not be able to escape it.
If we wanted to solve this once and for all, we had to return to that house and find the cause of all this.
“I was scared. After hesitating for a day, I seemed to have another dream that night. When I woke up the next day, I agreed to Ingmar’s plan, and tonight, we will go back there to resolve this issue once and for all!”
There, Veronica’s diary came to an abrupt end. It seemed that something happened to Ingmar the very night they returned to the house.
After such an incident, Jofu lied about Ingmar leaving to avoid taking responsibility. From the perspective of Roger and the others, this was a Transcendent event.
But if seen through legal proceedings, it would be a case of disappearance, and Jofu could potentially be in a lot of trouble. For a capitalist like him, negative news could impact the stock market.
Causing him to lose a lot of money.
“It seems the problem originated here.”
Henrik came up with a possibility and brought the two men down to the wine cellar, but there, they didn’t find any so-called secret passage.
After a brief discussion, the three decided to stay overnight to see what would happen.
At midnight, a chill ran down their neck, and Roger, startled, sat up with a jolt!
