Demon Hunter and His Cabin-Chapter 1033 - 743: Choice_2
Chapter 1033: Chapter 743: Choice_2
"Or give it to someone else."
Roger suddenly spoke up, picked up the water cup in front of him, and then handed it to Olivia.
"You want to give it to me?"
Olivia looked surprised, "Listen to me, Roger, what’s in this cup..."
Before Olivia could finish her sentence, a flash of light passed by, and Olivia vanished into thin air right before Roger’s eyes.
Roger slowly turned his head and looked at Tristramy, who still maintained a kind smile, "Respected lady, you seem to enjoy making people choose?"
"Fate is fair to everyone, it gives you the chance to choose early on when you are unaware."
She didn’t directly answer Roger’s question but instead uttered a peculiar statement.
"Fate Coin..."
Roger seemed to understand something.
"Fate may have given hints and chances for choice, but there are only two sides to the coin."
He didn’t feel the aura of a Fifth Tier Transcendent from this strange woman, but the soul and blood powers are different, and he was uncertain about his judgment.
Deep within the soul, the Hunter’s Cabin loomed indistinctly. It was precisely because of its existence that Roger had the confidence to enter this bizarre Soul Realm and directly contact an Immortal.
He himself was a Fifth Tier Transcendent, and as an Immortal of the same stage, there might be differences in power and distinct development directions causing systemic barriers.
But Roger did not believe there would be a significant difference in power at the same stage.
So even though he entered the Fifth Tier, compared to the mysterious Hunter’s Cabin, his achievements were insignificant. Naturally, even though he had researched the soul considerably, the Hunter’s Cabin was not something an Immortal could comprehend.
On the surface, he was a seemingly ordinary Transcendent, just stepping into the Third Tier, only due to a different research direction and abilities showing some uniqueness.
"Haha, truly a perceptive little fellow." Tristramy chuckled, wrinkles at the corners of her eyes stretching sideways. Her voice was warm, but for some reason, seeing her smile, Roger felt a vague malice.
"Being able to make two choices... don’t you think fate’s favor is sometimes a bit too much?"
"After all, many times, we often have no choice."
"Good and evil, beauty and ugliness, life and death."
"Different choices lead to different results, different results point to divergent destinies."
"You see, life is a process of continuous choices."
"Alright, since you’ve made your choice, the remaining time is yours."
She raised her hand, and when it descended, a copper bell had appeared on the table.
"If you want to read the books on the shelf, then I suggest you start from the third column from the left side, which records most of the common languages and can save you a lot of time."
Roger shrugged, "Given the situation, the last thing I lack is time."
"I am only giving advice, the choice is yours."
Tristramy smiled, her body slowly disappearing into the air.
Everyone left the room, leaving him alone, but Roger didn’t feel any relaxation. The sense of being watched remained, and it even intensified.
That was not just the sensation of eyes; it was as if from all directions, from the ground to the walls, from the walls to the ceiling, every inch of space and every corner in the room had eyes silently observing him.
A comprehensive observation without blind spots.
Honestly, Roger would prefer not to feel this sense of watchfulness.
Calming himself, he still walked to the bookshelf, cast a few random glances, and the directory of books on the shelf imprinted into his mind.
Just as Tristramy said, more than half of the texts were in languages he had never encountered. He casually pulled out a book, flipped it open, and a strange light blue soul emerged from the book.
The next second, the face printed on the book’s page suddenly expanded and then detached from the book.
"It is an honor for you to choose this book, esteemed sir, what do you wish to learn from me?"
A gentle voice came, and Roger moved back half a step, distancing himself a bit from the light blue face.
"Truly unusual books."
He murmured softly.
"Every book has a soul, esteemed sir, even knowledge has dignity."
The light blue Soul Body declared righteously.
"Alright, let me see what you can offer me?"
...
"This cup of water contains essence extracted from a special soul..."
Olivia’s voice suddenly rose, then she quickly realized she had left the previous room.
No elaborate decorations or soft carpets, beneath her feet was soft soil, and around her were interwoven vines and branches.
"Teacher, you didn’t tell me you’d choose this method for the trial!"
She shouted loudly.
"Had I known earlier, I would have certainly advised him to drink that cup of water!"
"He’s just entered the Third Tier stage and lacks the experience of staying in the Soul Realm for long periods. Without proper guidance, a normal person would go insane if they stayed too long in the Soul Realm for the first time!"
"This is the best way to test."
"In such an environment, it’s easier to probe his limits and reveal hidden dangers within the soul."
"I didn’t deceive you, staying here does indeed isolate unknown influences, but it’s not a short-term process."
Tristramy’s voice came from behind Olivia.
"The more extreme the environment, the closer the final result is to reality."
"A mad Transcendent is not feared, but the cause of his madness is what you need to focus on."
"After all, what you’re about to do is crucial, any slight mistake can lead you into the Abyss."
The underground soil surged, countless branches and vines spread out, intertwining to form a vague humanoid shape. As Olivia turned around completely, the figure woven from branches had already become indistinguishable from a real person.
"But we should at least tell him the truth, so he can prepare for what’s to come."
Olivia argued.
"Kindness is a wonderful trait, but for a leader, it should be the first thing discarded."
"Your well-intentioned reminder would not help him at all, only cause him to fall into anxiety too early, and then go mad little by little in the long wait."
"Besides, as you saw, from the beginning, I gave him different choices, two opportunities, both times he chose to give up."
"Fate has already arranged everything."
"Leave the rest to time."
Olivia bit her lip, her mind in chaos, death is not terrifying, but the wait for death is.
Just as Tristramy said, if she told Roger in advance what was going to happen, would he become like a prisoner waiting to die, falling into long-pending doubt?
"You can go see him and choose to tell him the truth, or find another way to help him."
"The choice is yours."
"Think carefully."
As the words fell, the entangled branches retracted into the soil, and Tristramy’s figure once again disappeared.
Olivia walked forward, the surrounding branches naturally parted, and when she cleared away the obstructive branches, she appeared at the edge of the cliff at the mountain top.
The sea and sky merged into one.
Olivia stood dumbfounded at the edge of the cliff, until a long time later did she let out a deep breath, a decision forming in her heart.
And just at this moment, without any warning, the sky suddenly dimmed, as if a switch had been pressed, completing the transition from day to night in an instant.
"Wasn’t there supposed to be no day-night alternation?"
Roger raised his head, looking at the pitch-black outside.
"Is it no cyclical alternation?"
"Day and night, all based on whim?"
Roger was muttering to pass the time, a faint light flashed not far away, Olivia’s figure appeared out of thin air.
"Listen to me, Roger, what I’m about to say is important, I don’t know if telling you is right or wrong, but I feel as the party concerned, you should have the right to know."
Olivia said with a serious face.
"Snap!"
Closing the book in hand and returning it to its original place, Roger stood up with a smile, "What are you intending to say?"
The expression on his face was relaxed, but inside, Roger already had some judgment.
This suspicion partly stemmed from the words of the unknown old woman, but mostly from the changes within his own soul.
