Chapter 324: An Upcoming Press Conference

Brooke and Aaron stayed back with the director for about three hours, a team for damage control were invited, where they orientated them both on what they would say at their press conference tomorrow.

However, Aaron out rightly refused to comply.

"What?! You want us to apologize to the bastard?!" He raised his voice, "Hell no."

He turned to Brooke, whose attention was strictly on her phone.

"He attacked her first, we will not be succumbing to that man." He placed his foot down on the matter.

Director Lee pinched his temples. "There’s no video to prove that statement!" He yelled. "The only thing circulating on the Internet is you punching the face of the richest man in the city."

Aaron rolled his eyes. "So this is about money? Isn’t it?"

"Of course it is!" Director Lee replied. "His legal team reached out to me. Ethan is fully planning on suing. If we don’t make a move first, this drama won’t push through."

At the mention of the show being cancelled, Brooke raised her head. "Director, you can’t tell me you’re scared of Ethan? There should’ve been surveillance at the location-" she stopped herself from speaking, upon realizing something.

’But then again, he didn’t hit me. If they did check the surveillance, it’d just show Thane hitting Ethan with his car door.’ she reminded herself.

"That’s no use. The camera was taken down for maintenance. Just our bad luck." He hissed, reaching into his jacket for a lighter.

"And what will everyone think? If we apologize, it’ll be the same as admitting we were wrong." Aaron pointed out.

Brooke seconded, "We need to be tactical about this. He was the one who came to our filming location, our word should hold more weight."

The director laughed. "And just what was he out here for? You should know better than anyone." He lit the butt of his cigarette, "Everyone in the city must be thinking the same thing. First the pictures at the hotel, and now this. Brooke, don’t tell me you’re really involved with a married man." He cracked a grin.

"Please sir, don’t make crude jokes like that. Do you know how detrimental that could be? We need to let the public know, that without a silver of doubt, that Brooke has nothing to do with him, at least romantically." The head publicist, turned to Brooke.

"Tomorrow, you’ll tell everyone that you were speaking about a sponsorship for the movie. You’ll also say that you were discussing the movie as well at the hotel."

He turned to a pissed off Aaron, "And as for why you attacked him, we’ll say it was a misunderstanding. Since you’ve stayed abroad for over a decade, I’m sure we can convince the public you have no idea how Ethan looked right. We’ll say you mistook him for a stalker or something along those lines. Make sure you properly apologize, if we cover up for him, it’s likely Mr Halton will let this matter slip under the rug."

Aaron tried to protest, but the director sent him a strict warning. "You might be a talented actor, but influential business men like Ethan Halton can ruin your career in seconds. If you still want to survive in this industry, you’ll take the smart choice."

Cassie pulled her fur coat closer, draping it over her bulging stomach. She passed her bag to her driver, and gave him orders, "Come back in an hour," she told him.

"Yes, ma’am." he replied, then left with the car, driving out of the hotel’s parking lot.

Cassie tipped her dark shades up the bridge of her nose, and combed her ginger haired wig with her fingers, straightening it.

She approached the desolate area. Not a lot of cars were parked outside, and there weren’t up to five people at the lobby. She used the elevator, all the way to the top floor, which was even much more scarce.

Not everyone knew about this secluded area, and the people who knew about this place wouldn’t dare breathe a word of it.

She waited at the waiting room for about ten minutes, before a staff member came for her. They led her to a bar, which had some older men and younger women like herself seated together in segregated seats.

Placing aside the scandalous frivolities that happened at the hotel, there were rumors of all sorts of illegal dealings. The sort that would make headlines in less than an hour.

Generally, the hotel had a bad reputation, and Cassie’s career would take a terrible nose dive if she were ever caught in such a place.

Especially at night.

She took off her shades, "I told the old geezer I hate this place!" She grumbled, staring at the chat between her and her beneficiary.

She balled her fists, "This really is the last time I’ll let him or Ethan have their way with me. Once I get rid of the pain in my side, I’ll take of these two." She thought to herself, as she approached the counter. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"I have a reservation." Cassie said in a fake deep voice.

The bartender had her head down, as though she were instructed to.

"Please, may I see it?" She stretched her hands out.

Cassie turned on her phone to fetch the reservation details, only to be cut short by a call from her mother.

She declined the call at first, but Serena called again, disrupting her.

"Son of a..." she cursed, accepting the incoming call.

She placed the phone to her ear, "Why the hell are you calling me now?!" She snapped at her.

"Cassie, where are you?!" Serena panicked.

Cassie frowned, "Why are you calling me?! Don’t you see I’m busy!"

But her mother did not back down. "Cassie! Someone just took a video of your car driving out of a hotel and posted it online!"

Cassie’s heart dropped.

Her vision blurred.

"W-What?" She swallowed, unsure of what she had heard.

"I just saw it! It’s spreading fast online! People are trying to find out just where you are!" her mother informed her.

Cassie rested a hand on her beating heart.

How could this happen?

No one could’ve known she was here!

She even took one of the cars Julian gifted her, her fans shouldn’t even know about it!

Just who was it?!

Who took that video?!

"Miss, are you alright?" The bartender’s voice sounded from across the counter.

But Cassie was short of breath, she used the counter for support, but her grip was shit. Her phone fell miserably to the floor, the screen cracking.

"Hello?! Cassie?! Cassie?!"

The last thing she heard, before losing consciousness was her mother’s panicked voice desperately calling out to her...
