Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband-Chapter 176: Secret Whispers In The Storage Room
Chapter 176: Secret Whispers In The Storage Room
When Brooke woke up to an empty bed and a stretch in her lower back, she nearly had a heart attack, thinking that last night was imagined. She got out of bed and slipped on the bathroom robe neatly placed next to her and dashed for the elevator.
Whilst the elevator went down, her thoughts were far from the filming she had in a couple of hours, but more on last night, more on Thane.
The ding sound stole her thoughts, barefooted, she marched out of the elevator, headed for the parking lot.
"He couldn’t have just left after everything that happened." She assured herself, fighting off the anxiety she was feeling.
Fortunately, she was intercepted by Hannah, who had a confused look on her face.
"Mrs Grayson? What on earth are you doing?" She called out to her, holding a gardening hat and a pair of weeding scissors.
Brooke sharply went over to her, "Have you seen Mr Grayson? I can’t find him anywhere." She announced, her fingers running wildly through her locks of hair.
Hannah rolled her tongue around her mouth for some seconds, before responding, "I think he left about three hours ago, it was barely even morning then."
"What?" her voice quieted, "He just left?" Her vision hazed out from the tears gathering at her eyes.
Hannah’s features softened, staring at the love bites peeking out of Brooke’s robe, she could tell what had Brooke so distraught. However, she had memorized her schedule and knew that there was no time to be wasted sulking.
"Mrs-" Hannah was saying, but got cut off when two maids scurried past them towards the car park.
Managing to hold one back Hannah interrogated, "Who is that?" She asked.
The maid replied, "Master Grayson is back..." barely had the maid finished speaking than Brooke excused herself from the conversation and rushed outside to see him. The maid sharply followed, helping Brooke with her balance so she wouldn’t fall.
Hannah couldn’t help but smile at the excited look on Brooke’s face to see the young master. In turn, she turned to leave, wanting to put away the gardening tools, but was stopped by a sudden phone call.
She took her phone out of her pocket, the moments her eyes zoned in on the caller her face turned pale. Immediately, she dashed for the closest storage room and closed the door behind her.
Inside, she answered the call and spoke in a low whisper, "I told you to only call me at night-" she was saying until she got cut off.
The person on the other line said something that made her frown, she rolled her eyes and said, "If I do anything right now they’ll suspect me. It’s too risky too..." her words were cut short by the turning of the door knob followed swiftly by a knock on the door.
"Hey whose in there? I need to take out a vacuum cleaner!" a maid yelled over her knocking.
Hannah hissed, "Just a second!"
She turned her attention to the call. "I understand, but just please, give me some more time, I swear I won’t disappoint you." She said, then ended the call.
Opening the door, the maid was shocked to see Hannah, whom they all presumed to be the head maid step out of the storage room.
"Madam Hannah, I didn’t know you were in there, I’m sorry for yelling-" she was saying, but Hannah cut her off.
"Did you hear anything I said?" Hannah snapped.
She furiously shook her head, "No, I swear I didn’t!"
Hannah narrowed her eyes, sizing the girl up, imprinting her face to memory right before she walked away to begin the prep for Brooke’s leaving.
"What the hell did you just say?" Susan yelled over the sounds of maids scurrying around, moving boxes into the awaiting car outside.
"I’m leaving, and I’m taking Kayden with me. We’re both going to find his sister." Julian said, not mincing words.
Susan pinched her temples, her eyes ladened with heavy disbelief, "You cannot be serious! You’re not going anywhere! Not with my nephew!" She raised her voice.
Julian could understand that his sister loved Kayden, even maybe more than anyone ever could. But, he didn’t want to miss out being with his son, and he didn’t want to do that at the expense of his daughter.
"I know it sounds greedy, but I just want to be a father to them both, I want to be in their lives." He reached for Susan’s hands and held them tightly in his. He looked his sister in the eye, he could see the tears she was holding back, and knew she wanted to see her too.
She wanted to meet her niece, but the pain that Kayden must’ve gone through wasn’t something she was willing to let go.
"You can hate me, because it is all my fault this happened. But don’t take it out on the innocent girl who doesn’t have a father to take care of her. Kayden deserves to meet his sister, and she needs to see him too. Please, Susan, come with us, let’s meet her." He pleaded.
Susan shook her head, "This is wrong, Kayden deserves so much better, he just woke up, he...he doesn’t even-" her words were cut off when her eyes met with Kayden’s.
She quickly withdrew her hands and covered her gasp, "Kayden!" She cried out.
Julian looked over his shoulder, to see Kayden out of bed, resting against the hallway, confusion ladened in his eyes. "Kayden, you’re supposed to be resting-"
"Aunt Susan, I...I don’t understand. What does he mean by I have a sister? And why are they packing all our bags?" Kayden asked, resting his fingertips at the side of his head.
She closed her eyes, letting her tears fall. "Kayden, it isn’t-"
Julian answered firmly, "It’s true Kayden. You have a sister, and we’re all going abroad to go meet her.". He announced, ripping off the band-aid.
Kayden furrowed his brows, "What?"
