Chapter 160: The Identity Of His Daughter

Brooke was the first one to notice her husband walk into the room, and the only one whom he cared to see. Unfortunately, when he heard his uncle accusing his wife, he couldn’t control his temper.

Edward reflexively reached into his back pocket for his cigarette, but immediately decided against it. The last thing he wanted to do was to provoke his father.

"Son!" Rosalind rushed over to Thane and tried to hug him, but he resisted her touch.

"Come on Brooke, we’re leaving." Thane announced.

His grandfather frowned, "Thane, I raised you better. Come here-"

He cut his grandfather off. "I heard about what you did to my wife when I wasn’t around. My lawyer will take it up with you."

Zachiel’s jaw lowered, "You’re suing your grandfather?" he looked to Brooke, "Over this vegetable?!"

Julian hissed, "Hey, watch your words you old fart. Just because you have some money sitting somewhere doesn’t give you the right to speak like a fool." ƒгeewёbnovel.com

Brooke could feel her heart racing with every second. She just wanted to drag Scott away, not all this extra drama happening.

What’s worse, Thane had arrived, and he had to witness her looking so pathetic.

Maverick inserted, "You’re leaving the country already?" he asked, feigning ignorance.

Malcom and his wife exchanged shocked glances. "What?!" they chorused in sync.

His father snapped at him. "Didn’t we agree you and your wife will stay here for a few years? With the family?"

Thane ignored his father’s words, he pushed Brooke away towards the exit, but Zachiel raised his voice at his grandson, stunning everyone in the room.

Rarely, had they seen him shout at Thane, it would hurt the old man too much to do that.

"If you dare walk out that door, I will disown you Thane! Not only will you not get the inheritance, but you won’t get a single dime of my wealth." He threatened.

Malcolm and Rosalind could feel years taken off their lives.

First, the thing with Matthew had to go and happen, with their son running away to heaven knows where.

And now, Thane was practically throwing the inheritance away over some woman who he barely knew.

"Father, calm down, he’s young and being hard headed. He just got mad because Edward couldn’t hold back with his sick fantasies." Malcolm explained, trying to diffuse the situation.

Sloane seconded, "Thane is just protecting his wife, if Edward had been wiser with his words, Thane wouldn’t have gotten provoked like this."

In her head she figured, ’It is foolish to make an enemy out of Thane. Even if he does loses the inheritance, I’ll make sure the old man hates Edward’s faction enough to will it to my Maverick.’

Proud of himself, Zachiel went on, "This woman embarrassed us by having this fool come here and demand money from us. I’m in a good mood, so I’ll forgive her if she gets on both knees and apologizes."

Julian couldn’t believe what he had heard. He tried to say something, but Maverick shook his head, and gestured him not to interfere anymore.

Brooke turned to her husband and held his hand tightly, "It’s alright, Scott is my responsibility. If that’s what he wants I’ll do it quickly and get it over with."

Hearing what she had to say, Julian got even angrier. "That’s enough-"

Thane replied calmly, "It seems your sons are too busy with all this drama that no one has come into work this past few days."

William frowned, "And what are you trying to say here?"

He ignored William and turned to his grandfather. "Since no one has told you anything, my company is no longer affiliated with the Grayson group."

Malcolm snapped at him, "What the hell did you just say?"

In clearer words he said, "All of my work, my research, my technology and my resources have been pulled out of anything concerning Grayson group. I’ve paid the compensation fee into the main account and pulled out all my shares." He narrowed his eyes at Zachiel.

"I’ve disowned you, grandfather."

Brooke who had just heard this for the first time felt sick to her stomach. What was he talking about?

Edward raised his voice. "You stupid brat! We have important clients using that technology! Shipments to be carried out, mergers and deals-"

Thane cut him off. "All of you should’ve thought of that before raising a hand to my wife."

Hearing the way Thane spoke about Brooke made Julian feel that maybe not all of the Graysons were such insufferable people.

He relaxed his shoulders and said to Thane, "I think you should take your wife and leave. Cutting off a family like this isn’t considered to be a loss."

Thane wasn’t sure who this old man was, but he nodded and wheeled Brooke out of the house, ignoring the calls from his father and mother.

Zachiel sat drenched in stun. His eyes watered when his beloved grandson turned his back to him and left without a second thought. He turned to Edward, his eyes now laced with anger, he raised his voice to him.

"How could this happen under your nose?! I thought I left my business in good hands?!" He raised his voice.

Sloane grinned from ear to ear when she said, "My Rowan has always been blocked by Edward and William at work, if only he wasn’t such a hog, someone else would’ve managed this situation properly."

Zachiel hissed, "Is there anything you and your stupid son can do right?!"

Edward spoke up. "Grandfather, I was busy with the foreign clients and William-"

"Can it! I don’t want to hear another word! Because of both your foolishness we’ve just let billions of dollars walk out that door!" He raged against them, still reeling in the shock of getting disowned by his grandson.

Julian chimed, "If it makes you feel any better, I’ll wire you the dowry, help cushion the blow you just took." He teased, right before turning to leave.

Maverick tried to escort him out, but he had Scott leave with him instead. Once they were outside, he took to interrogating him.

"Scott! Why the hell were you here demanding a dowry? How do you know Brooke? What is your relationship with her?" He demanded.

Scott knitted his brows. ’From the way he’s asking, he hasn’t figured it out yet. But, how did he and her meet? Was it really a coincidence?’

"I asked you a question!" Julian raised his voice, pulling Scott out of his inward panic.

He answered swiftly, "She is my daughter."

Julian raised a brow, "What daughter? You never mentioned having a daughter. Why have I never seen her before? And how is your daughter married to a Grayson?" The story didn’t add up.

"Her mother and I separated, we only recently got together because she was in town with her husband and wanted to introduce us." He lied.

Julian didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "You had the guts to pull this stunt when you haven’t found your sister or my daughter yet?! I think it’s time I put you in your place, properly."

Hearing his money tree about to abandon him, Scott grew desperate. He knew that if he didn’t take control over things now, it would be just a matter of time before they found the truth out for themselves.

Hence, he decided to throw a bone at Julian.

"That’s not true boss. You see, I...I have found my sister, and your daughter! I was able to trace them finally. And I was going to let you know."

Julian’s heart skipped a beat. "You’re not lying are you?"

Scott grinned, "I have pictures to prove it. Your daughter is alive and well. And she’s with her mother." He reached into his phone and searched a social media profile. It didn’t take long for the search result to show, he passed his phone to Julian, letting him see his daughter.

Julian read the name on the screen, "Cassie Crane?"

Scott twisted his lips into a wicked smile. "Yes. Your daughter is Cassie Crane."
