Death League 101: I'm Dead In 10 Minutes!-Chapter 57: “Midnight Hunting Spree (31): Manhunt”
Leinster felt as if he was already right in front of a door that could save his life, but the door refused to open, not even opening a crack for him to peek.
[Ahhhh! What do I do now? Can I discard the other emotions and fill up the Fear Gauge?]
Leinster asked his manifested ability and the OmO system immediately helped,
[Master, master, just buy skills, use them on your enemies and then fill up the Fear Gauge!]
There was so much fear condensing in the air. It would be easy to suck 300 Emo in one go.
[Okay, okay! Recommend me what to buy— ]
Leinster’s thought was suddenly cut off as an ominous purple mist suddenly wafted towards him and Otomen Lover, even slowly filling up a part of the store.
He had a bad feeling about this strange mist.
"Don’t inhale it!"
Leinster reminded Otomen Lover while he himself held his breath, but apparently, the thing worked just by touching the skin, no need for inhalation.
In just a split second, Leinster suddenly felt his body growing weak and his stomach churning, his mind became so dizzy that even his hallucination paled in comparison.
"What...is this?"
Poison? Is someone using poison?
Is it the customer or the challenger?
If it was the customer...
So far, he had never seen any of the ghosts using abilities aside from their physical bodies.
Unlike Leinster who was kept in the dark— literally, audiences who could switch between livestreams immediately found the source of the purple mist.
[Ah? Is this challenger crazy? Does he want to drag everyone to hell with him?]
[Damn it. He wants to immobilize the ghosts that block his path, but he doesn’t care whether the other challengers will be implicated or not!]
[Hey, he’s a veteran challenger! How could he do this?? Isn’t he afraid that the audience won’t give him Life Votes??]
But the person with a poison ability clearly had a group of loyal fans who would still give him votes, no matter what he did.
After releasing the poison, the person gave an antidote to a woman with a face 100% similar to his own.
The woman swallowed the antidote and then a few knives of all sizes flew in the air, slashing at the immobilized ghosts around them.
"Brother, let’s go!"
"Okay! Good job!"
The two veterans, who were clearly twins, immediately rushed out of the encirclement, not caring about the fate of other trapped challengers.
If Leinster was here, he would have recognized the knives that were flying around the woman because there was a tiny pocket knife among them.
She’s the assassin who attacked him in the dark!
Leinster felt that his body was growing stiff, much like the corpses around him and before he could curse whoever released the poison, the OmO system came out with a bang.
[Trapped in a poison mist? Buy a Teardrop Barrier for only 20 Emo, OmO]
[All kinds of poisons, attacks and other dangerous things will be blocked as long as they’re of the same level as your barrier, OmO~ ]
[Valid for 1 minute]
[Upgrade your barrier by one level to last by another minute~ just add 10 more Sorrow Emo!]
Leinster immediately waved his hand.
Buy it!
The upgrade version!
DING! [Thank you for purchasing a level 2 "Teardrop Barrier"!]
[-30 Sorrow Emo]
A blue mist swirled on Leinster’s palm and soon, it formed a tiny, tiny drop of...tear.
Under Leinster’s gaze, the tear slowly expanded, forming a 360° enclosed shield, protecting him and Otomen Lover.
The poison mist inside the barrier was quickly expelled and the air they inhaled became pure again— albeit it still smelled rotten.
Seeing this formidable barrier that only cost him 30 Sorrow Emo, Leinster almost kissed his own ability— if it had an entity.
[Ahhhh! Emo Market, you’re the best!]
This market kept producing skills that he needed the most.
If not for the penalties, this ability would have been so good.
Leinster’s whole body was "floating" with every step as he rammed towards the crowd of ghosts, treating his barrier as a bulldozer.
Bang!
"Hahahaha! Make way! Make way!"
The barrier shook, even showing signs of cracking, but Leinster didn’t mind and quickly cut a path through the sea of ghosts.
Before the two-minute duration ended, both he and Otomen Lover successfully left the clothing store, standing in the corridor.
Once they escaped from the encirclement, Leinster found a dark corner and squatted with Otomen Lover, who was still bewildered.
When did Leinster create a barrier?
Just how many abilities does he have? Or maybe those abilities are just a part of his one ability?
But isn’t his ability the "Father of Monster", rumored to be able to create monsters, ruling over all those strange beings from the ruins?
Leinster didn’t know Otomen Lover’s suspicion and just took a deep breath, calming down his weak heart before he spoke with all seriousness.
"Is it just my feelings, or are the challengers affected by something? They all seem to be obsessed with hunting me."
If only ordinary people were affected, that’s fine, but so far, it was actually the challengers who were so obsessed with killing him.
Something just felt wrong.
Otomen Lover felt a flash of enlightenment in her mind and she immediately slapped her thigh with excitement.
"The Hunting Spree! This mall is encouraging the customers and all of us to hunt..."
Those challengers must have been affected by the ruin, but they didn’t even realize that.
"A hunting spree...it is almost an hour since we entered the ruin, but we haven’t even found any clues about the target of our mission, " Leinster added while rubbing his chin.
Who is the guardian spirit of this mall?
How do they find this entity?
All this time, they were driven to enter the stores to secure oil lamps but those stores tried every trick to turn them into products.
Then, there was the sudden "Bounty Event" and the entire ruin descended into madness.
Is this the guardian spirit’s doing?
