Death Guns In Another World-Chapter 1871 - 1653.5: Under the moonlight
As they left the amusement park and walked back to their car, Silveria’s steps slowed, and a faint, almost mischievous smile touched her lips. Alex noticed the glimmer in her eyes and arched an eyebrow.
"You’re up to something," he said, his tone teasing but curious.
"Maybe," she replied cryptically, her voice carrying a hint of playfulness.
Once they reached the car, Silveria slid into the passenger seat and gave him a brief, purposeful glance.
"Coachman, drive to the clearing near the river," she instructed, her tone soft but firm.
Alex tilted his head, intrigued. "And why exactly are we going there?"
"You’ll see," she said, her silver eyes shimmering in the faint light of the dashboard.
He didn’t push further, trusting her as he always did, and steered the car toward the clearing she’d mentioned. It was a quiet spot they had discovered a few weeks ago—a hidden gem surrounded by tall pines with a clear view of the sky and the sound of the river nearby. The drive was peaceful, the hum of the engine accompanied only by the soft melody of the radio.
When they arrived, Silveria stepped out of the car and motioned for him to follow. Alex, still puzzled but intrigued, grabbed his jacket and trailed behind her.
As they emerged from the trees into the clearing, his breath caught.
The entire space had been transformed. Soft fairy lights were strung between the trees, their golden glow casting a warm, magical light over the clearing. A low table sat in the center, adorned with a simple but elegant arrangement of candles and wildflowers. Two plush cushions rested on either side, and a basket filled with food and wine sat nearby. The river’s gentle murmur provided the perfect soundtrack, mingling with the soft rustle of the trees in the night breeze. Above them, the full moon hung in the sky, its silver light spilling over the scene.
"Silveria," Alex began, his voice tinged with awe, "did you… do all this?"
She stepped closer, a small smile playing on her lips. "I thought it might be nice. You’re always planning surprises for me—I wanted to return the favor."
His chest swelled with warmth, and he reached out, gently taking her hands in his.
"This is incredible. You didn’t have to—"
"I wanted to," she interrupted softly, her gaze meeting his. "You’ve given me so much, Alex. You’ve shown me things I never thought I’d experience—joy, freedom, peace… love." She hesitated, her voice catching slightly. "I wanted to give you something in return, something to show you how much you mean to me."
For a moment, Alex was silent, overwhelmed by the sincerity in her words. Then, with a gentle tug, he pulled her into his arms.
"You didn’t have to do this to show me that," he murmured into her hair. "But I love it. And I love you."
Her hands rested against his chest, and for a moment, they simply stood there, holding each other under the moonlight.
After a while, Silveria pulled back, her cheeks faintly flushed.
"The food’s going to get cold if we don’t start soon," she said, her tone lighter now.
Alex chuckled. "All right, let’s see what you’ve got."
They sat down at the table, and Silveria opened the basket, revealing an assortment of dishes she’d clearly put thought and care into preparing. There was a rich, savory stew, freshly baked bread, a selection of cheeses and fruits, and a small chocolate cake for dessert. She poured them each a glass of wine, the deep red liquid catching the candlelight.
As they ate, their conversation flowed easily. They talked about the day, sharing laughter over the haunted house incident and reminiscing about the amusement park. But their words grew softer as the evening wore on, the playful teasing giving way to deeper, more meaningful exchanges.
"You know," Alex said, swirling the wine in his glass as he gazed at her, "I’ve been to a lot of beautiful places in my life. Seen a lot of incredible things. But nothing comes close to this."
Silveria raised an eyebrow, her lips curving into a half-smile. "This? A makeshift dinner in the woods?"
"No," he said, shaking his head. "You. Sitting here, under the moonlight, looking at me like I’m the only person in the world. Nothing could ever top that."
For once, Silveria didn’t deflect his words with a sarcastic comment or an eye roll. Instead, she held his gaze, her expression softening into something unguarded and vulnerable.
"You have a way of saying things that make me feel… like I’m more than I am," she said quietly.
"That’s because you are," Alex replied without hesitation.
They finished their meal slowly, savoring every bite and every moment. When the last of the chocolate cake was gone, Silveria leaned back on her cushion, her eyes drifting toward the sky.
"The stars are beautiful tonight," she murmured.
Alex followed her gaze, then shifted his position, lying back on the soft grass and patting the spot beside him. "Come here."
Silveria hesitated for a moment before joining him, lying close enough that their shoulders touched. The warmth of his presence, combined with the cool night air, was a perfect balance.
They lay there in silence for a while, the stars sprawling above them like a glittering tapestry. Alex reached out, his fingers brushing against hers, and she entwined her hand with his without a word.
"You know," he said softly, "if I could freeze time, I’d do it right now. This moment, with you, under the stars—it’s perfect."
Silveria turned her head to look at him, her silver hair spilling across the grass.
"I don’t think I’ve ever believed in perfect moments," she admitted. "But this… this might change my mind."

Alex smiled, his thumb brushing lightly over the back of her hand. "I’ll take that as a win."
The night stretched on, the world around them fading into quiet stillness. And as the moon cast its glow over the clearing, Alex leaned in, brushing a soft kiss against Silveria’s temple.
"Thank you," he whispered.
"For what?"
"For letting me love you. And for loving me back."
Silveria turned to him fully, her eyes shining with something deep and unspoken.
