Days of Living with My Sister-in-Law-Chapter 38 Shocked Luo Wentian
"O-One million?" Luo Qingcheng’s red lips parted in disbelief, thinking she must have misheard.
"What’s the matter?" Chen Xiaobei said, letting his gaze shamelessly roam over her petite frame. "Luo Qingcheng, if it weren’t for the fact that we’re old acquaintances, I’d say one million is too little."
"Don’t say I didn’t warn you," he continued, crossing his arms with an air of detachment. "Your grandpa’s about to kick the bucket. You can have your money, or you can have his life. You decide!"
"You little brat, you’re courting death!" Jiang Feng snarled, rolling up his sleeves. His muscles rippled, a clear sign of a trained martial artist.
Chen Xiaobei, however, wasn’t fazed in the slightest. Even ten Jiang Fengs wouldn’t be enough to trouble him.
"Enough, Jiang Feng!" Luo Qingcheng waved her hand dismissively. "Fine! One million it is," she conceded, "but remember this: the Luo Family’s money isn’t that easy to take. If anything happens to my grandfather, I swear I’ll never be done with you!"
True to her reputation as a business queen, Luo Qingcheng was remarkably efficient. Chen Xiaobei received the bank transfer in less than a minute. Holding a million yuan in his account, Chen Xiaobei could only think of one word—awesome!
He’d lived for over twenty years and had never seen so much money. It had to be said, that Zhao Caixia was his lucky star. If he hadn’t dealt with her today, he never would have met Luo Qingcheng.
As for Luo Qingcheng, she was beyond furious. She already looked down on Chen Xiaobei, and now he had successfully extorted a million from her. It was the ultimate humiliation.
"Hey!" Luo Qingcheng shouted, her small fists clenched. "You’ve taken the money! Are you going to save my grandfather or not! If you dare to trick me, I’ll have Feng kill you!"
"Who said I wasn’t going to save him?" Gazing at her enormous breasts, Chen Xiaobei squatted down and tapped several points on Luo Wentian’s chest with a few quick, sharp motions.
"Hey, what are you doing? Are you trying to kill my grandfather?" Luo Qingcheng cried, tugging at Chen Xiaobei with all her might. She was now convinced he was a total fraud, just trying to get revenge on her.
But to her surprise, the words had barely left her mouth when Luo Wentian’s tightly shut eyes slowly fluttered open. The purplish hue of his lips faded, returning to a healthy red at a speed visible to the naked eye.
"Grandpa, you... you’re alright?" Luo Qingcheng’s mouth fell slightly open, her heart flooded with shock.
He woke Grandpa up with just a few taps? Was Chen Xiaobei really that skilled? Or was it just a lucky fluke?
Luo Wentian ignored his granddaughter. Instead, he looked at Chen Xiaobei in astonishment and asked eagerly, "Young man, was it you who just saved my life?"
"You’re too kind, Elder Luo. It was nothing," Chen Xiaobei replied with a playful grin. As he spoke, he shot Luo Qingcheng a smug look that seemed to say, ’See how awesome I am? And you dared to look down on me!’
Luo Qingcheng was so angry she felt she might explode, her chest heaving. She became even more convinced that Chen Xiaobei was a fraud. Her grandfather’s recovery had to be a matter of good fortune; this man was just trying to spite her.
Luo Wentian, however, saw things differently. He excitedly grabbed Chen Xiaobei’s hand. "Ah! Truly, a hero from the younger generation. I never imagined there would be a Divine Doctor such as yourself in this tiny Mangniu Town."
"I am Luo Wentian, the Family Head of the Songshan Luo Family. May I ask your name, sir?"
"Uh, just call me Chen Xiaobei." Chen Xiaobei scratched his head, almost embarrassed by Luo Wentian’s effusive praise.
But the old man wasn’t wrong. The Nine Heavens Demon-Vanquishing Technique was one of the most incredible cultivation techniques in all the Three Realms. The medical skills it contained were naturally top-tier as well. Forget a heart attack—as long as a person was still breathing, Chen Xiaobei could bring them back from the brink.
It had to be said, Luo Wentian seemed like a decent guy, at least not as unreasonable as his granddaughter.
Since he’d already taken a million from the man’s granddaughter, Chen Xiaobei decided to be direct. "Elder Luo, from my observation just now, your heart attack was caused by blocked Qi and blood, leading to fractured meridians. If I’m not mistaken, you were a practitioner of martial arts in your youth, weren’t you? But you were later injured by someone and didn’t receive timely treatment, which is the root cause of your current ailment!"
"You damn liar!" Luo Qingcheng completely lost her temper. "My grandfather is a businessman! He’s run an honest business his entire life. He has never practiced martial arts! How dare you keep trying to swindle us! I’ll kill you!" She lunged at Chen Xiaobei, her hands like claws.
"Qingcheng, stop!" Luo Wentian boomed. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
His aged face was a mask of utter shock and amazement. He stared at Chen Xiaobei as if he had seen a ghost, because Chen Xiaobei was absolutely right.
In his youth, he had indeed practiced martial arts, learning from a very powerful sect. But when his sect met with calamity, he was wounded by enemies, and his martial arts were completely crippled. Only after that did Luo Wentian come to Songshan and marry his wife. You could say that even his late wife never knew this secret.
For Chen Xiaobei to mention it now meant one of two things: either he somehow knew his past, or he was genuinely, unbelievably skilled. He was inclined to believe the latter.
For some reason, after Chen Xiaobei’s tapping, his heart, which had felt so sluggish before, was now beating with a strength it hadn’t had in years. As a former martial artist, he understood his own body better than anyone.
At this thought, Luo Wentian’s mind reeled. He clasped his hands and bowed deeply. "Mr. Chen is truly a peerless Divine Doctor. It is the great fortune of my life to have met you here today. Please, accept this old man’s bow of respect!"
The sheer reverence in his posture stunned Luo Qingcheng and Jiang Feng into silence. Luo Qingcheng, in particular, stood frozen, her pretty face a stone mask, her eyes wide with bewilderment. She wasn’t an idiot. It was obvious that Chen Xiaobei had hit the mark.
Logically, she knew she should apologize to such an incredible doctor, especially since he had just saved her grandfather. However, the moment she remembered how this bastard had not only extorted a million from her but had also forcibly kissed her *there*, her anger flared. Since you’re a Divine Doctor, can’t you show a little compassion? A little of that famous healer’s benevolence, and just save my grandfather? You violated me and you still demand money from me? That’s going too far!
"Grandfather, why are you bowing to him?" Luo Qingcheng pouted, helping the old man straighten up. "He took my money, so of course he should cure you."
Her 36D breasts trembled, a sight that made Chen Xiaobei’s heart skip a beat.
"Qingcheng, don’t talk such nonsense! Doctor Chen is a talent seen once in a generation. It is my good fortune that he was willing to save me!" Luo Wentian was so angry he was practically hopping. "Now, hurry up and apologize!"
"Grandfather!" Luo Qingcheng stomped her foot in frustration but finally turned to Chen Xiaobei. "Hey. Sorry, alright?"
My, aren’t we the proud princess, Chen Xiaobei thought with a cold laugh.
Still, he couldn’t be bothered to bicker with Luo Qingcheng. He had gotten his money, and the grudge he held was settled. "Elder Luo," he said, "since you’re fine now, I’ll be on my way. Until we meet again!"
"Doctor Chen, please wait," Luo Wentian said. "You saved my life, and I haven’t even had a chance to thank you properly. Since you are leaving, please allow me to give you a ride."
"That works for me." Chen Xiaobei didn’t refuse. He’d never ridden in a Bentley before and figured he might as well enjoy the experience.
Once they were down the mountain, Luo Wentian opened the rear door for Chen Xiaobei. "Qingcheng, you accompany Doctor Chen in the back and keep him company. Grandpa is going to rest his eyes in the front for a while."
"Grandfather!" Luo Qingcheng whined pitifully. But she didn’t dare disobey him, so she reluctantly slid into the seat next to Chen Xiaobei.
"I’m warning you, stay away from me," she muttered under her breath. The smell of sweat coming from Chen Xiaobei nauseated her.
Just then, Chen Xiaobei spoke, looking at Luo Qingcheng’s icy, beautiful face with a smirk. "Miss Luo, I see a darkness gathering between your eyebrows. I’m afraid you’re about to have some bad luck."
"Are you cursing me?" Luo Qingcheng snapped, instantly losing her patience.
