Date a Witch: Reborn as the Witch of Lust! (GL)-Chapter 87: Pain over Emptiness; Betrayal Impending!
Chapter 87: Pain over Emptiness; Betrayal Impending!
Mel watched as Lila glared up at the smirking Rosana, emerald eyes squinting as her lips pressed tight together, as if to hold back every swear she could imagine.
Chatters flowed idly around them, the Holy Knights shifting their glances at Mel before darting back at the Royal Knights.
Last night’s order from the Saintess was clear: No interruption to Mel and her companions, especially Lila.
"Oh. Forgive my manners." The Heiress’s eyes smiled. "I’m merely too amused by how you seemed to have grown more vigilant for your Master."
"You just refused to put it kindly, huh?"
"Have you ever seen a hunter regard her prize kindly?"
Rosana stared back at Mel, possessiveness stirring in her chest. "Same thing. I’m never generous with my time, manners, or efforts."
Mel’s expression gleamed a little, keenly aware of the playful implication behind the Heiress’s words.
"Oh..." Lila’s gaze strung back, a disgust creeping up her expression. "Well, that goes for me as well. Try not to think as if the World revolves around you."
"I’ll kindly heed that advice." Rosana bowed her head. "Try not to revolve your World around Mel alone, too, little puppy."
Lila’s brow shot up, her judgmental stare meeting Rosana’s relaxed gaze. "Yeah... I’ll kindly refuse that advice."
Every inch of her, from head to toe, belonged to Mel; as if no one else could stake a claim. Not even Rosana’s sharp mockery could sway her.
Rosana shrugged, her ’kind advice’ expectantly refused. "So be it."
Mel watched as the two took light jabs at each other, an enlightenment settling quietly.
In the original game’s timeline, although they were collectively known as Witches, most of them never got along with each other.
When Wrath started her hunting spree, the rift between Witches only widened, much to Pride’s sorrowful dismay.
Mel chuckled to herself, her thumb brushing against her Lila’s hand idly.
"Alright, you two." She petted Lila’s head. "Don’t be so childish. The others are still watching."
"Of course." Rosana cast a smirky gaze at Lila, now nuzzling against Mel’s touch. "Even I wouldn’t draw attention to myself by boldly tongue-kissing my prey."
"Wel-well... leave me alone..." Lila’s voice trailed, her cheeks blushing. "Even I know that is shameless and brought awkwardness to everyone... I do care about others, a little."
"Oh? Our puppy here is growing."
"Gr-" Lila held back a snarl, her hand tightening around Mel’s as she glared at Rosana. "Seriously, has anyone ever told you how annoying you are?"
"There was. The Adults, for example." Rosana crossed her arms. "They stopped their insults when I challenged them to duels, then beat them till they humbled themselves and cried."
"Wow." Mel’s lips curved. "Must have been like a chore for you, Miss Rosana."
"I wouldn’t normally disrespect others, but yes. Those fools who disrespect me first were a chore to deal with."
Rosana sighed before glancing over to the Royal Knights.
She could see some among them; one-two...four used to watch over the Northern Borders against the Wild Dragons.
Then <Rite of Inheritance> came, her existence as the Half-Dragoness was announced, and some power-hungry fools wished to climb the ladder by defeating the ’fraud Dragoness’.
"Though the chores were swift to sweep away." She waved as those Knights avoided her ’kind’ gaze. "I treat them as good warm-ups."
"Oh-hoh!" Mel nodded approvingly. "Still, tough work out there. The pressure must still be there."
"I’m not an Heiress to live up to anyone’s expectations, Mel," Rosana chortled. "So when I say no pressure, I genuinely mean it."
Mel caught a flicker of sorrow in the Heiress’s eyes; not dishonest, but more like grief.
Then it was swiftly washed over by a mischievous glint, as Rosana’s eyes locked with Mel’s.
"I was never close enough to anyone to learn the feelings of betrayal." Rosana licked her lips. "Though I always welcome change, pain over emptiness, anytime."
The Heiress had grown tired of Knights who sought glory without sacrifice, fame without effort.
She would rather prey for her price; at least then it meant something to her, and her alone.

"Well," Mel’s expression grew tender. "Don’t say such things as betrayal. It only hurts me."
"Then I must apologise." Rosana covered her trembling lips before eying beside Mel. "Though I could sense someone is more unhappy with my claim than you are."
After Lila shot Rosana a warning glare, Mel nuzzled her cheek against Lila’s.
Lila’s smooth, milky skin gave way under her squeeze, heavenly to the touch, as her stuttering grumbles played in the background.
"Mel-Mel..." Lila moaned out. "That blonde dare suggest you’d betray her... be a little madder..."
Even as she enjoyed Mel’s cheek-squeezing, Lila didn’t forget to launch another scowl at Rosana.
Somewhere in her heart, the daring suggestion of ’betrayal’ stung the worst.
"Aw, Lila..." Mel’s murmur was muffled as she squished their cheeks harder. "You experience it every day, don’t you? Rosana’s right about me in a way..."
"Then don’t flirt with...mmm...every girl you see, you... lustful demon! Mmm..."
"Mmm... sorry, your cheek was just so comfy right now..."
Rosana held back a laugh as the two clung to each other so dearly, a jealousy almost sprouting from within her-
But she quickly reminded herself; she could enjoy Mel’s body in a way Lila couldn’t. So, she simply watched in silence.
But perhaps she was too engrossed in their little spectacle; that’s why she jolted when a new voice broke the moment.
"Hello, you three! We’ve officially arrived!"
The Heiress frowned at the brown-haired girl, now standing between the Mel-Lila duo and Rosana.
No footsteps, no sounds, not even smells. It was as if this elf were not human.
Rosana eyed ’Aria’ with suspicion, before Mel’s breath hitched in her throat.
She pulled away from the confused Lila, her thoughts flickering between last night and the present moment.
With a slight blush, she met Maria’s hazel eyes, now under disguise while acting in her ’masked’ manner.
But as her gaze slid over Maria’s curves, Mel remembered the devilish idea she’d prepared to turn up the intimacy between them.
One... that she prepared this very morning.
And so, with a flush that reached ear-to-ear, she clasped her thighs tightly together in shame.
Pain over emptiness, how fitting.
Mel hiccuped, her impulsive idea now leaving only an aching emptiness beneath her skirt.
