Dark Magus Returns-Chapter 1231: The Last Sword
Elsewhere on the battlefield, one of the core battles was taking place, and it was between Beatrix and Impress. Using the item that Ricar had given her, Beatrix had changed the area around them slightly, making half-step almost stairs around the two.
Those that were fighting nearby thought of it as a wall so they didn't get close, not that they wanted to. With all of the major fights, the Qi, the attacks, the weapons and artifacts were so strong that there was a chance for the strays to be hit.
Unlike wars between two kingdoms, fights between warriors were quite different. Due to the various skills, Qi and movement, those fighting were further apart than in a typical fight. So the area of fighting was spread out much further than many would expect.
"That item you got from Ricar, the one that he stole, it won't be much use to you!" Impress claimed.
Beatrix knew she was right, so she placed it around her waist, hanging as a large ball by her side. She never planned to use it in a fight so close like this one. The energy used in the fight would be too much in the first place to have a large effect.
"I guess it's the same, the person you look up to is scum, just like you!" Impress said, charging forward with her glowing golden sword.
She swung it above and below, and in turn, Beatrix blocked each of the attacks. Each time the swords clashed, a pulse of Qi would blast out in the air, and a pleasant resounding sound would be heard like that of a bell.
The two continued to clash their swords, perfectly blocking each one. Neither one of them appeared to be besting the other, and if one was to watch the fight take place, it was almost a beautiful performance was happening.
The swordsmanship was as if they were in sync, and both of them were almost mirroring each other's moves.
Finally, both of them clashed from the top, and the Qi pushed both of them back until they were in their starting positions again.
"Tch!" Impress grunted.
"What's wrong, did you think you could best me with the Dawnblade Clan skills?" Beatrix commented. "Out of all of the Elders, Ricar was the best at the Dawnblade Clan techniques. If you hadn't attacked him by surprise, you would have never beaten him.
"So if it comes to the Dawnblade Clan skills, I can't afford to lose in a battle like that against you."
The two jumped in the center, and a Qi ball nearly surrounded the two of them. The Qi balls were overlapping, and it meant their swordsmanship was as well. Several thrusts of the sword came from both sides.
The tip of both of the weapons were hitting each other one on one, and there also seemed to be no winner of Qi.
'She is just a new Elder, she didn't come in long ago, and she was forced in due to the pressure we had from the other Light Factions.' Impress thought.
"I can tell what you're thinking." Beatrix said as she continued up the maneuver and continued to match Impress for every one of her attacks. "But you're wrong, I didn't earn my place in this clan like you, by sleeping around with the others. I earned it all through my own skill, and I'll show you that!"
The Qi orb broke, and as it did, Impress darted forward and struck from the side. Impress was able to block in time, but she was pushed back.
It was the first move from the two of them that wasn't mirrored and hadn't completely been blocked by the other.
"Sometimes we can't just stick to traditions." Impress said. "We have to break the mold of what we are taught. Otherwise, we will never surpass the old."
"You're calling me old, you little child!" Impress shouted. "I guess in the eyes of a kid like you, anyone would be considered old. You should know once you get to this stage, age is experience—experience that can be used to take one down!"

Impress had been hoping that with her stronger weapon, that she would be able to break the other sword, and win the fight with ease. However, it was quite clear that the sword that Beatrix was using was just as good in quality as the one she had received from Alter.
"I thought it would be best to beat you with the Dawnblade Clan skills as it would be the ultimate punishment for you, but I have no time to play games with you."
Beatrix was on the back foot as she jumped a few times. This was it, one of the top swords that Alter had managed to gather throughout the time they had existed. It was sure to have a sort of special power, but it was the same for Beatrix with her weapon as well, she just needed to know when the right time to use it would be.
"Let's see you deal with this!" Impress said, as she dashed forward.
It was strange, nothing seemed to have changed in the eyes of Beatrix. There was no difference in the power or Qi, so it made her wonder what did the weapon do.
Careful, Beatrix was ready to strike, and she did just that, as she sliced from the side at Impress. Seeing this, Impress didn't even try to stop it, the blade cut through her skin, stopping partly in the center.
As it stopped, the hardened body of a warrior was making it hard for her to slice the weapon completely through.
Impress, right next to Beatrix, smiled as she had the sword in her hand.
"As long as I have this sword… I can't die!" Impress claimed as she thrust it toward Beatrix's head.
So close, Beatrix was able to only move out of the way and avoid it, but a powerful kick had hit Beatrix in the stomach and sent her back crashing into the own wall she had made prior.
When Beatrix looked up at Impress, she could see the wound that she had made—it was completely gone.
"She… can't die?"
