Chapter 562: Water Fight. (Part Two)

Another thing about Catalyst was that the amount of power it granted varied greatly. Two people could take the same pill, receive the same ability to breathe fire, yet one of them would burn a building with a cough while another would struggle to light a tire.

It might have earned the miracle drug name, but the randomness of the granted power and its potency made it too risky for individuals to use. However, that changed when it was used by groups.

A large organization with a lot of members could have a select group try it out. They would then pick those who obtained useful powers and make them regular users of the drug. Of course, with how expensive each blue capsule was, they were forced to limit themselves to desperate situations, but that alone granted the organization powerful weapons they could deploy when their regular forces failed.

A man who could command the powers of the wind, compressing it into blades that could cut through the toughest of alloys. A blue demon capable of ripping machines apart using only his hands, and a meathead who can take on jets of water and still move afterward.

Volcan did a quick evaluation, revealing that all of them were on the higher end of Level 3. Their attack patterns weren’t exactly coordinated, but they gave each other openings, taking turns to attack, while attempting to prevent Dante from countering.

There were others besides the three charging him, then there were the sailors. Those bastards had Sorcerers among them, and they were preparing for something bad. Their captain was bad news. With how easily he was able to stop his earlier attack, Dante guessed that the old man was at least a Level 4.

Done observing the enemy, Dante went on the offensive. The water soaking the ground suddenly rose, creating a sphere around the blue demon. When he swung the robot arm, it bounced off the inner wall as if it had struck a hard surface.

’Aqua Prison.’ Dante turned to a second enemy, holding his hand up to activate another ability. ’Aqua Pulse!’

His palm was coated in a thin film of water, and as soon as he gave the command, it exploded forward, the shock striking the muscular man in the chest and blasting him away once more. As he evaded more attacks, a veil of mist descended on the dock, taking away what little vision they had. The air bender was quick to react, creating a whirlwind around him than expanded it to banish the mist. His mistake was letting it move sideways, ignoring the air above the battlefield.

Bubbles fell from above, looking like translucent balloons released in a festival. Their harmless form bypassed the enemy’s alertness, and by the time they realized what they were, it was already too late. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

BOBOBOBOBOBOBOBOBOOOOM!!!

A series of detonations shook the dock, no different from the result of a continuous artillery strike. Each bubble exploded like a tank shell, and the once even dock turned into a land of craters. Most of the Black Skulls and the sailors were blown apart, shredded by the explosions themselves or the scattering debris. The vehicles were blown away as well, and the semi-trucks suffered the same fate.

Peeking his head from behind Ahab, he looked around and went so pale that the ink covering his face turned gray.

"This is bad..." With the pipe still in his mouth, the captain released a jet of white smoke from his nostrils. "At this rate, I might have to do something..."

Dante looked around him, counting those still standing. He tilted his head to the left, evading a pink beam. The glowing pink man whose leg he tore off earlier still had a fight in him, but not for long. Making a finger gun with his right hand, Dante compressed a drop of water at the tip of his finger, then launched it using Aqua Pulse. The drop blasted a hole through the man’s chest, and the ground behind him exploded, creating a grave for him to fall into.

Creating a blade using Aqua Edge, Dante turned to the blue demon and released Aqua Prison. Then, before the bastard could attack, Dante hacked at him several times until he managed to split him open. He was about to move on to his next target when Absolute Awareness picked up on something, accelerating his perception.

Shifting around, Dante found himself standing in front of a giant maw lined with jagged teeth. Feeling like he was looking into the mouth of a massive shark, he quickly moved out of the way. Or he tried, at least. Because of how distracting it was, Dante failed to notice the smaller fish that dug their fangs into his legs. 2-4 wasn’t easily damaged, but the creatures managed to pierce its outer shell, even if it was only a shallow cut.

Failing to dodge in time, Dante grabbed the shark’s arms and prevented them from snapping around him. The force pressing down on him took him by surprise, and he panicked for just an instant. As he noticed that the shark was entirely made from a strange white material, a blow landed on his left flank, and he was sent flying.

The muscular pseudo-Genome was back, and this time, he managed to land a hit. Dante actually felt it, forcing him to realize that endurance wasn’t the only thing that bastard had. Just when he thought he was free from the shark, something came swinging down at him like a giant whip. He rolled out of the way then tossed himself into the air to evade another swing, but a shock ran through his body as a third whip smacked him midair, slamming him into the ground.

Giant tentacles swung down at him one after the other, and Dante had to put up an Aqua Prison around himself to guard against them, lying on his back as the blows drove him deeper and deeper into the concrete. An opening showed itself, and he quickly moved to take advantage of it, but before he could, something came shooting down at him, piercing the water shield he had intended to dismiss and almost impaling him. The thing was a long metal rod with a jagged blade at the end. Though it was his first time seeing one, Dante immediately recognized it as a harpoon.
