Cultivation towards immortality, starting from being a fisherman-Chapter 697 - 377 - Rivers of Blood (Part 2)
Chapter 697: Chapter 377 - Rivers of Blood (Part 2)
Although the disappearance of Major General Lucas, a member of the noble Kain family, warranted a second of sorrow from everyone,
the mission had to continue nonetheless.
They refused to believe that the enemy could pull off so many tricks without paying a price.
Otherwise, why would they consistently carry out sneak attacks in civilian areas?
Admiral Siskan of the Kain household, also direct kin and a charming middle-aged man considered an uncle to Major General Lucas, took over the heavy responsibility of overall command.
Upon the shuttle’s arrival at the Underground City, he ordered the original command post to be bombarded without hesitation.
There wasn’t a trace of consideration that his nephew might still be inside.
After all, the higher-ups, meaning the Kain family, wouldn’t allow anyone but them to continue commanding such important operations.
Moreover, using the new batch of weapons and equipment he brought with him, he launched high-pressure incendiary bombs capable of generating extreme heat.
The intense heat melted the command post’s steel reinforcements into molten iron. The scorching temperatures could be felt by soldiers ten miles away. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel-com
There were indeed, at least audibly, results from the battle.
As flames reached for the sky and floors of buildings crumbled from the inferno,
earth-shaking, sky-blistering roars emanated from the flames.
The sound chilled one’s heart on listening,
striking straight to the soul, evoking fear as though facing a natural predator.
Admiral Siskan, the newly appointed, heard this sound from the plane.
After two seconds of silence, he decided to conduct remote command from his own aircraft.
Meanwhile, he moved as far away from the combat zone as possible.
He also had his most trusted personal soldiers pilot the aircraft, flying randomly to avoid any mishaps.
After all, considering the command center had been ambushed,
even without a message from Major General Lucas, he too couldn’t shake the suspicion that someone might be relaying information in an attempt to wipe out the Kain Group.
Looking at the scorched earth displayed on the drone screen,
the Admiral mourned for his nephew in silence for a few seconds.
Then, he reviewed some of the previously suggested strategies from his nephew.
He nodded slightly in agreement.
The current dire straits of the Karlo Federation’s regular forces were partly due to their weaponry being designed to combat equally matched opponents,
targeting normal mobile units or armored targets, immovable fortresses and the like.
They were not suited for combat against agile, immensely strong, but miniature targets such as special individuals.
Against such humanoid monsters, the amount of ammunition was everything.
Major General Lucas felt that outdated air gunboats and ground-attack airships, retrofitted with the best aiming devices, would be quite suitable.
They could adapt by carrying various types of ammunition to deal with different forms of hostile targets.
"Air gunboats, huh?"
"Large gunboats would have difficulty maneuvering in the Underground City’s space."
The height of the Underground City’s space was around five hundred meters, and all flying vehicles were specially modified for low-altitude flying.
If not for this, air support wouldn’t have been so ineffective.
"For smaller craft, making a request to the Academy of Science should be no problem,"
"Moreover, the offensive must continue!"
"The strategy of ’capture the king first’ isn’t bad."
"Unfortunately, times have changed; the king is but a replaceable part now."
Admiral Siskan had a clear understanding of himself, and began to issue orders to press forward from the aircraft.
In the region where Su Ping was located, after a brief period of calm following the command center’s fall, the sky was once again ablaze with artillery fire.
However, Su Ping was now sitting cross-legged in a dimly lit basement,
watching as Major General Lucas was forcibly delivered through the sewers and various pipes by the Shadow Giant Snake.
Rapidly carried away by the surging water through those pipes,
the Major General was no longer recognizably human, his limbs twisted unnaturally and caught in various parts of his body.
Only his right eye could still move somewhat, and upon sensing that he had stopped, he forced it open to see his calm and composed target,
observing with a slight, unruffled smile, as if there was no panic or worry, Kalosis.
The Major General, instead, began to panic, feeling an ominous premonition.
This whole affair had been a mistake from the beginning.
In this game of life and death... they would lose!
Suddenly, Major General Lucas felt a burst of spiritual power emanating from the other person, piercing straight into his forehead.
Following that, Major General Lucas heard the voice of Kalosis echoing in his mind.
"You..."
Upon hearing the voice in his mind, Major General Lucas heard the other party plan to expose all the sins related to the detection of the Otherworldly Space.
He initially wanted to retort just how ignorant and arrogant the other party was,
but then he thought of the other party’s methods, and felt a chill in his heart while responding helplessly:
"It’s useless, not to mention that no department will help you expose it."
"Even if it does become known to the world."
"It won’t make any difference..."
Major General Lucas paused before continuing:
"Those in the upper echelons of the Kain Federation are basically aware of it."
"Your exposing it would at most make those families who stirred up trouble pay a small price, their children would just be scolded and superficially punished."
"I believe you’re right,"
"but I must still do it, for nothing else but to let the remaining ripples of this body calm down."
Su Ping had expended some effort to have the Shadow Giant Snake bring this major over.
It wasn’t just to learn information.
But also because after knowing the tragic fate of this body and its relationship to the betting games of the upper echelon,
the lingering consciousness of Kalosis in the body showed intense fluctuations.
Su Ping could feel the anger and unwillingness, as well as the impulse to expose the injustice suffered.
Su Ping could also understand why the last emotional ripples of the other party were like this.
Because Kalosis was merely an Underground City civilian, all the artistic 1 works he grew up with proclaimed that evil would vanish under the sunlight.
Su Ping didn’t need to care about this emotional fluctuation.
However, since he was free anyway and had sensed this impulse, Su Ping decided to satisfy his last request.
After all, the success of his Possession indicated that there was a connection between them!
So, Su Ping simply used a method of suggestive hypnosis to have the Major General reveal the information.
Then, with a glaring look, Su Ping knocked out the Major General, sat back down on the ground, crossing his legs, and activated the Array drawn on the ground using the little Mana he had slowly accumulated.
Next, a new secret technique developed from the Netherworld Immortal Body combined with non-righteous skills, which consumed less Mana and was suitable for use in the mortal world, was cast—the Ghost Skill.
A deep green light flashed, on a battlefield already laden with death.
In virtually the blink of an eye, hundreds of ghostly figures stood around Su Ping.
Su Ping was somewhat surprised; he hadn’t expected the soul strength of those from the Kain Federation to be quite decent.
In this environment devoid of Spiritual Energy.
Even though the time of death wasn’t long, the Formation was able to attract hundreds of souls.
Su Ping looked around and waved his hand.
A large number of the ghostly figures dissipated.
Only about a hundred of the strongest remained.
There was no helping it, Su Ping’s accumulation of Mana was not easy; he could only opt for quality over quantity now.
After a few breaths,
The hundred ghostly figures turned into semi-transparent dark green Ghosts.
With a commanding shout, as if invoking a spell,
The Ghosts turned into streaks of dark green light and surged out of the basement.
Above ground, two-legged Mechas and armored vehicles fitted with large-caliber cannons slowly advanced together.
They would blast any shadows they came across along the way.
Any larger pieces of rubble would be met with incendiary rounds to ensure everything on the surface was burned.
However, as the army pressed forward,
The Ghosts also charged in at this moment.
A driver of a two-legged Mecha suddenly felt an intense pain in his head.
After screaming for a few seconds, he ceased his cries, his eyes flashing green light as he aimed the Mecha’s cannon at his nearby comrades.
Then... bang, bang, bang!
The cannon fired.
Another two-legged Mecha close by was hit and burst into flames.
At the same time, gunfire resounded elsewhere.
This alarming change immediately made the commanding Admiral jump and look at the projected image of the battlefield.
He couldn’t help but inhale sharply:
"What’s going on, why are so many units under attack at the same time!"
