Chapter 19: Locked Out!

Creed stood frozen, his breath caught in his throat, his body refusing to move. Before him, chaos itself had been unleashed.

The dark, dense forest beyond the ruins was no longer silent—it was erupting.

An earthquake of bodies surged forward, trees cracking, ground shaking under the weight of an unstoppable stampede.

Hundreds—no, thousands—of Dimensional Beasts were charging straight at him!

And all Creed could think was... Why the hell was his luck so bad?!

A Beast Tide wasn't just a random horde of monsters.

It was a natural disaster, a catastrophic phenomenon where thousands of Dimensional Beasts were driven into a frenzy and trampled everything in their path.

Why did it happen?

No one really knew.

But one thing was certain; Every living thing caught in its way was doomed.

Creed's face was pale as a ghost. His body screamed at him to run. And yet—he was still standing here like an idiot!

No Time to Think—RUN!

"MOVE, DAMN IT!" Creed roared at himself. His legs finally obeyed. He spun on his heels and sprinted toward the Bastion gate.

Survival?

It all depended on reaching that gate in time.

A normal Dimensional Beast was already deadly enough. But a Beast Tide? That was death incarnate.

Among the thousands of rampaging creatures, there were at least hundreds of Stage 3 Beasts and possibly stronger ones hidden inside.

And a single Stage 2 Beast alone could shred Creed apart in a single slash. He didn't stand a chance if they caught him.

His only hope was reaching the Bastion gate before they reached him. Or he was dead.

Creed's lungs burned, his legs ached, his energy was draining fast.

But did that matter?

Hell no.

Because if he stopped for even one second, he'd be trampled into paste. Ignoring the pain, he yanked a vial from his pocket.

It was his last Stamina Serum.

With zero hesitation, he popped the cap and chugged it. A burning sensation shot through his body, then...

BOOM.

His exhaustion vanished gradually.

A rush of strength filled his limbs. His mind cleared. And most importantly, his energy was recovering.

Which meant he could use the Primordial Link again!

"Activate Primordial Link!" Creed commanded mentally.

CRACKLE!

Instantly, purple lightning exploded across his body. His muscles tightened, his speed doubled, his vision sharpened.

In an instant, he was blasting forward like a bolt of lightning.

Boom!

The forest erupted open, spilling forth an ocean of beasts.

It was madness.

Wolves the size of cars, gorilla-like creatures with spiked arms, giant centipedes that slithered with terrifying speed—

All of them were racing toward him, their blood-red eyes locked onto his fleeing figure with hunger.

Sound of their movements alone was deafening. Thousands of creatures were roaring, howling, shrieking all at once.

The very ground trembled under their collective charge.

Creed's heart pounded..He had never—NEVER—felt fear like this before. His eyes frantically darted forward...The Bastion's outer wall was still far away, but the gate...

He could see the faint glimmer of light from it!

He just had to make it there!

A massive black-furred beast suddenly broke ahead of the others, appearing in front of him with a pounce.

A Mid Stage 1 Darkfang Tiger!

Its golden eyes locked onto him. It opened its terrific jaws, and in the next instant—

BOOM!

It leaped!

Creed gritted his teeth. There was no way he could dodge at this speed. And if it tackled him, he'd be ripped apart instantly!

There was only one option left.

Fight!

ZZZZZTTT!

Purple lightning crackled around Creed's body. He thrust his spear forward with all his might, and at the very last moment, he fired a concentrated bolt of lightning straight at the tiger's face!

BOOM!

The air exploded.

The tiger let out a pained roar, its body convulsing mid-air before it crashed into the ground!

Creed didn't stop to check.

He kept running.

Almost There!

His lungs burned as he ran, his legs screaming in protest, but he couldn't stop. Stopping meant dying.

Behind him, the earth trembled beneath the stampede of thousands of beasts, their roars a deafening wall of chaos.

They had reached the ruins and were wreaking havoc on everything.

Countless screams of unfortunate awakeneds resounded as they fought the most brutal fights of their lives!

Creed was also not faring any better.

His body was exhausted, his energy reserves running low, and the Primordial Link ability was wearing off.

Still, he clenched his teeth and kept pushing forward. He had to reach the Bastion in time. Nothing else mattered.

Then...

A deep growl.

Creed's heart skipped a beat.

From his right, a blur of movement—and then suddenly, a massive, shaggy-furred wolf leaped out of the ruins, its red eyes glowing with bloodlust.

Creed barely had time to react before...

BANG!

The wolf lunged at him like a cannonball, jaws wide open, aiming for his throat!

NO CHOICE!

Creed twisted his body mid-air, bringing his spear up just in time.

CLANG!

His spear smashed against the wolf's head, sending it crashing into the ground, but the impact sent Creed flying backward too!

He rolled across the cracked pavement, barely managing to keep his grip on his weapon.

His chest ached, his arms tingled, but before he could even catch his breath...

HOWL!

The wolf recovered instantly, its claws scraping against the stone, and its muscles tensed as it prepared to strike again.

Creed cursed under his breath. This thing was fast!

And worst of all, it was too stubborn!

The wolf lunged forward again, its massive claws slashing down. Creed's instincts screamed at him.

He ducked at the last second, feeling the air slice above his head as the claws barely missed.

He countered immediately with a precise thrust!

His spear tip flashed, aiming for the wolf's exposed ribs, but...

CLANG!

The wolf twisted its body unnaturally, avoiding the attack, then whipped its tail at Creed's side!

BANG!

The hit sent Creed flying, his body slamming into a broken pillar.

A sharp pain exploded in his ribs, but he forced himself to move before the wolf could pounce again.

Lilith, his ferocious little summon, wasn't idle either.

CRACKLE!

Purple lightning exploded from her body as she leaped onto the wolf's back, sinking a metal shard deep into its fur.

The wolf howled in fury, thrashing wildly, trying to shake Lilith off!

Creed gritted his teeth.

NOW!

This was his chance! He pushed past the pain, charging forward with every ounce of strength he had left.

"DIE!!"

Creed thrust his spear forward, aiming right for the beast's throat!

The wolf saw the attack coming, but Lilith bit down harder, forcing its head to tilt just enough for the strike to land!

SHHK!

The spear pierced through flesh. A spray of hot blood splattered across Creed's face.

The wolf let out a final, gurgling whimper before its massive body collapsed.

For a moment there was silence.

Then—

BOOM!

The ground shook violently. Creed turned his head and his face went pale.

More beasts were rushing toward him!

Dozens of them. More wolves, shadow panthers, and nightmarish creatures he didn't even have a name for.

They had seen the battle. They had smelled the blood. And now they wanted him.

Creed didn't hesitate. He turned and ran. His leg burned, his body screamed in protest, but he ignored it.

Survival was all that mattered!

Then—

PAIN!

Creed stumbled, his vision blurring for a split second. Something warm was running down his thigh. His hand reached down and he felt it.

Blood.

A lot of it.

During the fight, the wolf's claws must have clipped his leg, and now, every step he took felt like a knife twisting in his muscle.

But then he saw it. The Bastion's towering walls. The gate was right ahead!

His heart leapt with hope. Just a little more! Just a few more steps and he would make it!

The Bastion gate was finally in reach! He could see Adventurers and DMA Officials standing at the top.

Their faces were horrified as they saw what was behind him.

"OPEN THE DAMN GATE!" Creed bellowed. Then his eyes abruptly widened. Something was wrong. The Bastion gate wasn't open. That was understandable.

But the small emergency entrance was locked as well?

Instead a glowing blue dome of energy had already formed around the whole bastion.

Creed's entire body went cold. His breath caught in his throat.

The Bastion was in Lockdown Mode. Which meant no one was allowed inside.

Creed was locked out!

His stomach twisted with dread. This wasn't happening. This couldn't be happening!

He stumbled forward, almost collapsing, his hand pressing against the energy barrier.

It hummed softly—unbreakable, untouchable.

From the other side, he could see soldiers on the walls, looking down at him with horrified expressions.

They couldn't open the gate even if they wanted to. Creed was trapped outside.

And the Beasts Were Right Behind Him!

The thunderous sound of the Beast Tide roared closer.

He could almost feel their hot breath, hear their snarling teeth, sense their bloodlust closing in.

His legs shook.

His mind screamed.

Was this how he was going to die?!
