Craved by the Wrong Volkov-Chapter 221: You are not the father
Genny’s heart skipped a traitorous beat once she heard that voice. Her hand instinctively wrapped tighter around Alora
She should have gone home once she saw him earlier. It was already a bad sign, and now how was she going to get out of this situation?
"What are you doing here?" She asked his name remained heavy on her tongue as she reluctantly added. "Joey .."
Joey laughed. "I was the one who rescued her." he stopped, his gaze flickering to Genny.
"How is this possible? I have never dated you, and we hate each other’s guts, or is this a misunderstanding..." he shook his head.
That couldn’t be possible. The resemblance was too obvious. Alora literally looked like him as a child just with long hair. Joey always had his mother’s feminine beauty..
Genny’s heart squeezed..she had realised this a long time ago. Since that night, her one-night stand had disappeared without a word and just ghosted her ...
The next time she saw him was at the mall that day she went out to shop with Braelyn at first glance. How could she forget his face? Even when she wanted to.
Alora was a painful reminder of that face. She had deliberately approached; she was nervous at first, but there was no need. Joey had no idea who she was. There wasn’t even the faintest sign of familiarity in his gaze and that twisted something in her. ..
Of course, a man like that couldn’t remember something as fleeting as a one-night stand.
Before she could even find the words to reply to him. Alora broke out of her hand and matched Joey, pointing her finger at him. The little soldier remembered what her mother told her..
Alora forced a glare at Joey then asked. "Is your name Joey?" She demanded leaving all the onlookers dumbfounded.
"Yes my name is Joey..." he admitted. Alora’s face turned angry all of a sudden, it looked comical. Alora grabbed a handful of sand from the ground so fast Joey couldn’t react then tossed it at him.
Some of the sand got into Joey’s eyes. She immediately started her assault. "Bad man...mummy said anyone with the name Joey is a jerk ..." Alora, being a girl’s girl, completely forgot that Joey was her saviour and was punching his leg without mercy.
Everyone froze. Joey was confused as to why the little soldier was punching him. Braelyn’s face went pale remembering Genny had given Alora that very instruction earlier today.
Genny was dumbfounded at how much guts her daughter had, while Joey’s blind date was confused if she should laugh or separate the one-sided assault.
In the end, she couldn’t hold it in anymore and burst into laughter. Laughing her heart out.
"Your daughter is so feisty and cute. If I didn’t know better, I would have thought Joey’s daughter was pouring her grievances on him because of how cute they look together..." she laughed deliberately saying those words to test Genny’s expression.
She saw it, the way Genny’s face stiffened before forcing out a laugh. Her stomach dropped. Her fingers twitched; this couldn’t be real. She and Joey had been on a few blind dates and things had been working out for them at least they didn’t stop on the last date
Things were far from official but she had to get married into the Alvarez family. She couldn’t afford a bastard daughter spawning out of nowhere...
Her gaze darkened, she still remembered the first day she saw Genny drunk in that bar. That was their very first blind date. Joey had ended it immediately because of her.
Joey went on a second date because he bailed on her, and to apologise, they arranged today’s date, and this just had to happen. Joey had claimed she was just an acquaintance but things weren’t that simple
Alora’s face turned ugly on hearing Amira’s words. Amira was Joey’s blind date. "Who is his daughter?!" Alora screamed.
"Alora’s daddy’s name can never be Joey. People called Joey are bad people..." Alora declared and Joey’s gaze darkened as his eyes snapped towards Genny.
Genny shuddered, it was the first time she had seen Joey angry. "Bad Joey...bad Joey..." Alora repeated stomping on the floor. She was very angry.
"Alora won’t allow you to look like her..." she huffed. Genny sprang up and clamped a hand on Alora’s mouth.
She was struggling in her mother’s hands. Genny laughed..
"I apologise for her behaviour. It is a misunderstanding," she chimed, then added. "Thank you for helping us. One day we would repay you," she thanked Joey and dragged Alora away after giving Braelyn a fast glance. Her best friend understood immediately.
Joey wasn’t going to let her go that easily after all, Genny had always had a grudge against him, he never understood. Was it because he accidentally got her pregnant and forgot?
But he really couldn’t understand. He didn’t remember having any past with her.
"Who is her father Genny?" He asked, stopping her. Alora calmed down as if she understood the conversation.
"There is no need to worry. It isn’t you." Genny clearly said. "How can I have your baby when we never got together?" She asked, leaving Joey stunned. That was right but it didn’t make any sense.
"But..." he pushed, sighing as he rubbed his temples.
Genny gave him a smile. "It is just a coincidence, Joey. Her father was a guy I knew back in uni. You guys just look alike..." Genny lied smoothly and escaped the scene with Braelyn leaving a confused Joey.
Amira approached him, "Are you alright?" She asked, Joey didn’t reply. She gulped, her palms were growing sweaty. She was secretly anxious.
She grabbed his arm." There is no need to overthink it. It might just be a coincidence, and besides, doppelgangers also exist, "Amira said carefully.
The possibility of it being a doppelganger was more possible to Joey because he really couldn’t believe that he probably had sex with Genny and forgot.
Yet his gut feeling told him otherwise.
As Genny and Alora got further away from the area he felt a hole in his chest that wasn’t there before.
