Craved by the Wrong Volkov-Chapter 132: An invitation
Braelyn’s POV
He wasn’t the only one who could play this Twisted game.
"You need to get punished, viper." He said hoarsely. The dark feeling got more ominous enough to terrify me. I wasn’t scared per se, maybe because my gut feeling knew yes, he was going to wreck me, but not necessarily hurt me.
I gulped then licked my lips. "So... what punishment were you thinking of?" My voice didn’t tremble; it held certainty that I wasn’t playing around.
For the first time, his control slipped. Just a fraction. His breath hitched. He wasn’t expecting me to play into his game. He wanted to scare me but wasn’t achieving what he wanted.
A dark chuckle spilt from him, irritation lacing his words. "You’re enjoying this."
I was enjoying it. More than I should, but who cares? My father was probably rolling in his grave at how much his precious Brae had fallen.
’ I am sorry, Daddy, because your baby is gone. What is left is a woman who has lost her way in the world.’ I prayed inwardly.
He finally smiled. "You look oddly excited to get punished." He drawled then backed away a bit. Our heart beats in unison as we just stare into each other’s eyes. In those hazel eyes, I was the only thing there. Like he was staring at his world
I knew that wasn’t the case; he probably saw me as his favourite prey, but what was wrong with being delusional? Everyone was delusional once in a while. At this moment I decided to go down hell with this demon.
"Will you prefer it if I tremble with fear instead?" I wrapped my hand around his shoulders, then raised my butt up pressing myself shamelessly against his taut muscles. I was now hovering over him and he liked seeing the subtle dominance in my movement
Lucien grinned looking more devious under the dim lights. His lashes fluttered slightly casting a shadow on that face that was a crime. "That is something a sinner would say but you are worse than a sinner, Viper."
I chuckled and something sparkled in my eyes. Maybe amusement or rather desire. "You are a temptation wrapped in silk." He admitted
His voice was charming, seducing but his anger remained. I leaned down deliberately brushing my lips on his ears, noticing the way his muscles tensed for a moment.
"Everyone’s a sinner," I whispered to the shell of his ear. "Some of us just don’t pretend otherwise."
His hand slid from my chin to my throat. His grip held a light pressure, enough to feel. Enough to frighten me and remind me I was playing with fire. Enough to steal air and sense from me.
"Don’t flatter yourself," he said softly. "You’re worse than I am." says my greatest temptations and personal devil. His existence was the definition of sin.
My pulse fluttered wildly beneath his fingers. Desire and dread tangled, inseparable. I should’ve pulled away.
Instead, I stared back at his eyes. My lips tangled between my teeth as I asked, "Then tell me what you were going to do."
Lucien pulled me down, his mouth just beside my ear.
"If you want to know," he murmured, "you’ll come home with me." It was an invitation. He was giving me the choice.
My heart stuttered. I blinked slowly trying to process what he meant. He wanted me to follow him home.
The word echoed, heavy and suggestive, sliding straight under my skin. Nervousness sparked through me like electricity but it didn’t drown out the excitement humming beneath it.
I forced a slow smile. "Is there something I should be scared of?" I foolishly said when he was literally going to punish me.
He laughed quietly, dark amusement flashing across his face. "That depends," he said. "Are you scared?" he said, releasing his grip on my neck.
I gasped as air rushed into my lungs. My hands pressed to his chest, meeting his gaze without flinching. "Maybe," I replied. "Or maybe I just want to see how scary the big bad black sheep really is."
His eyes lit up but the glint quickly disappeared. "That’s a yes," he decided.
And God help me it was. I had no idea what I just agreed to walk into.
******
I straightened up my clothes, then grabbed my bag before walking through the door with Lucien’s presence looming behind me. I could feel his steady gaze on my back.
My head was spinning, questioning myself about what I just did. The adrenaline was still there but reality was slowly crashing in. Fear and nervousness fully kicked in.
Was it too late to run now?
He laughed, causing me to flinch. My head snapped back to him. "What is so funny?" I hissed at him. He raised a brow at me.
"Your eyes are darting around looking for an escape route." He said and my stomach dropped.
"You look like you want to run." He said as a matter of fact tucking his hand in his pocket. "You can run and I would not stop you or chase you. Not tonight because if I do, we would both hate the outcome, but..." His voice dropped with his gaze
"That will only make things hard for you." I shuddered. The tension was so thick it sliced through the air. A startled voice rang, slicing through the tension. My head immediately snapped in that direction.
A corner down the hallway I couldn’t see beyond. My stomach churned. It sounded like trouble. Then a male voice followed laced with aggression.
My steps slowed and I found myself approaching the direction. Lucien’s hand snuck around my wrist.
Lucien’s jaw tightened with a single word warning."Don’t." he wasn’t the type to concern himself with others’ affairs. He was no saint, nor was I.
Another woman’s voice cut through the noise, she sounded scared and breathless. My protective instinct kicked in with the little empathy I had in me. I just couldn’t walk away..
That wasn’t me.
"Please..stop..." The voice wasn’t clear, but it was enough for me to understand.
My stomach twisted violently.
"I can’t ignore her," I said, already pulling free. Lucien cursed under his breath. "Braelyn..fuck."
But he followed anyway.
The dim corridor opened up, shadows swallowing the space. At first, I couldn’t see her, only a man’s broad back pinning someone against the wall.
"Hey!" My voice rang out sharper than I felt. "Get away from her or I’m calling the police."
The man turned, eyes glazed, mouth curling cruelly. "Walk away," he sneered. "Unless you want to join the fun." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
My blood ran cold.
Then I heard her voice again. Trembling with fear
"Lynn...?"
My chest constricted painfully in dread, crashing into recognition as I stepped closer enough to finally see her face under the shadows.
"Genny."
