Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!-Chapter 362 - 361: Feels Like an Online Romance
Jensen Sterling’s mind conjured up that image, then his lips slowly curled up.
The little girl often lies like that when she’s at home.
"Mr. Sterling, did you see the message I sent you?"
Mia Sutton took her phone back and faced it towards herself. She sat up, straightened her slightly messy hair with a hand, and smacked her lips as she spoke.
"Yeah, I saw it."
Mia Sutton: "They mentioned the concert before, but since it wasn’t confirmed, I didn’t tell you."
"How long are you going for?" Jensen Sterling asked as he adjusted his sitting position, leaning back for more comfort.
Mia Sutton thought for a moment and said, "It should be about a month. We’re not on the level of superstars; we’re just doing three shows in three cities, so it won’t take long."
Jensen Sterling nodded: "I should wrap up my shoot in a bit over a month."
After Mia Sutton roughly went over her schedule with him, they started chatting aimlessly.
Mia Sutton could chat while glancing at her computer screen, catching some TV shows.
After a while, Mia Sutton suddenly stopped, looked at Jensen Sterling, blinked, and said seriously: "Mr. Sterling..." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Jensen Sterling met her gaze, seeing her serious expression: "What’s up?"
Mia Sutton licked her slightly dry lips and said, "Don’t you think we look like we’re in a certain kind of situation right now?"
Jensen Sterling, hearing this, followed her lead and asked: "What kind of situation?"
Mia Sutton paused for two seconds and then said, word by word: "An internet romance."
At the film set, Jensen Sterling was momentarily stunned by her words and then lowered his eyes with a slight chuckle.
After saying it, the more Mia Sutton thought about it, the more it felt accurate.
"Look at us now, we’re miles apart, and the only way we connect is through phones, sending messages and making calls. Isn’t this the definition of internet dating?"
Jensen Sterling, rarely joking with her: "So, are you satisfied with your internet date?"
On the other side, Mia Sutton seemed to be genuinely pondering this question, tilting her head for a few seconds: "Pretty satisfied, as long as he’s not using fake photos."
"You know, fake photos — like those really unattractive uncles who put on makeup, use beauty filters, wear wigs, oh, and some even use voice changers."
Jensen Sterling: "..."
Mia Sutton, seeing this, laughed twice: "Just teasing you."
She then heard Jensen Sterling’s gentle voice: "Mia..."
Mia Sutton: "Hmm?"
"You seem to know a lot about makeup? Wigs? Voice changers? Have you had an internet romance before?"
Mia Sutton: "..."
The next second, the little girl’s eyes shifted left and right, and after clearing her throat twice, she sat up straight: "Not before... but now, there’s this thing going on. Just unsure if I’ve been tricked with fake photos."
Jensen Sterling: "..." He got played by the little girl.
"You’ll know once you see me."
Mia Sutton, looking at his expression, smiled with crescent eyes: "Alright~"
...
Jensen Sterling was just about to speak with the little girl when the director walked over. However, upon seeing him in a video call, the director halted.
Jensen Sterling’s eyes flickered, then spoke into the video: "Something came up on my end, I’ll call you tomorrow. Get some rest."
Hearing that he had matters to attend to, Mia Sutton nodded, indicating she understood: "Then... my internet boyfriend, you get some rest too, goodbye."
She waved her hand at him.
In Jensen Sterling’s eyes, she looked like an adorable beckoning cat.
The words "internet boyfriend" seemed to echo in his ears, carrying a hint of sweetness.
His eyes twinkled with humor, and he hummed in acknowledgment as Mia Sutton, on the other side, hung up the call willingly.
Jensen Sterling only stored away his phone after Mia Sutton ended the video call.
He stood up from the chair, raising his eyes to look at the director beside him.
Upon seeing him finish the call, the director finally approached.
"Mr. Sterling, were you just... on the phone with a friend?" The director hesitated before landing on a safe term.
Jensen Sterling hadn’t been using headphones, yet the phone volume wasn’t too loud; the director wasn’t standing close either and had taken a couple of steps back upon seeing him make a call.
But given the space, he still caught bits and pieces.
Like: boyfriend, for instance.
The director’s first thought was that Jensen Sterling was dating someone, which would be major news, likely causing a stir in the industry once leaked.
Jensen Sterling had already slipped his phone into the pocket of a coat hanging nearby.
Thinking of the little girl’s address from earlier, he casually answered: "Yeah, girlfriend."
Internet girlfriend.
The director’s mouth opened: Ah, this...
He wanted to pretend he knew nothing, yet it seemed the involved party had spilled the beans.
Seeking advice online, it’s quite urgent.
This being their first collaboration, the director wasn’t quite sure of Jensen’s temperament. Hearing him say this, he could only chuckle awkwardly.
"So it was your girlfriend, huh? Looks like you have a great relationship with her, Mr. Sterling."
The director expected Jensen to brush it off, as industry insiders usually kept relationships under wraps.
Who knew that Mr. Sterling would take the road less traveled: "Yeah, it’s pretty good."
Director: "..."
This man doesn’t just take the road less traveled, it seems he walks no road at all.
Was that comment just a shameless PDA?
Feeding him dog food?
The director had never heard any rumors about Jensen Sterling being involved with anyone, maintaining a distance from actresses, assuming he steered clear of romance.
Turns out he’s a hidden master?!!
However...
The director took another look at Jensen Sterling’s expression now, feeling it was much improved compared to right after the scene.
Back then, after filming, the director sensed Jensen might just throw the script on the ground and walk away at any moment.
Of course, our Jensen Sterling would never be that crude, at most he’d just turn to leave.
But now the mood had shifted.
Earlier, if it was akin to three feet of ice, now it was a definite thaw of spring.
Director: "Mr. Sterling, I apologize for earlier. That actor is inexperienced, a plant by the investors. Please don’t take offense."
Jensen Sterling responded blandly: "Hmm."
He wasn’t one to hold grudges against others, merely got irritated after shooting a dozen takes.
Hearing this, the director felt relieved and hesitantly asked: "So... should we continue filming that scene now or wait until tomorrow?"
