Chapter 274: Chapter 273: I Ate the Chapter Title

Jensen Sterling pushed open the private room door first, then led Mia Sutton inside. The few people inside, probably bored from waiting, had already started drinking. Clark Jacobs was just about to take a sip when he saw Jensen come in.

He immediately bounced up from his chair: "Hi Jensen, hi sis-in-law."

His stance was impeccable, but his eyes darted around, refusing to meet Jensen’s gaze, especially since he’d been talking behind Jensen’s back just moments before.

Jensen glanced at his fidgety demeanor, then turned to Mia and said, "Let me introduce you, this is Brian Rhodes, and this is Jonah Quinn, they’re both my friends."

Then he glanced sideways and said lightly, "This is Clark Jacobs, you’ve met him, he’s the one who was speaking to you earlier."

Clark: "..." That last part was really unnecessary.

After a brief introduction, Jensen held Mia’s hand and addressed the others, "This is my wife, Mia Sutton."

He said it so naturally, without a hint of pause.

Mia sneaked a glance at Jensen, who appeared to have said it offhandedly.

She withdrew her gaze, removed her mask, and greeted them with a smile, "Hello everyone, I’m Mia Sutton."

"Hello, sis-in-law." The others warmly returned Mia’s greeting.

Although Jonah had just returned recently, he’d heard quite a bit about her from Clark.

The way he’d described her was so vivid, and now seeing her in person, the most immediate impression was that she was truly beautiful.

It was Brian’s first time meeting her as well, though he had seen her online occasionally. In person, she was indeed quite pretty, albeit different from the style he thought Jensen would fancy. He’d always pictured Jensen with someone his own age, mature, the type of strong woman.

But then again, considering Jensen’s own calm demeanor and strong desire for control, finding someone like that as a partner might indeed lead to disaster.

Marriage would become a cold partnership if two overly strong personalities were involved. That would be too depressing.

With a young girl, it’s different. She’s full of energy, quirky, and matches well with Jensen.

No one had ordered food yet, but since Jensen and Mia were here, they called for the waiter to start ordering.

As the food was being prepared, they chatted. Initially, Clark was worried Jensen would hold him accountable, but seeing no change in Jensen’s demeanor, he finally relaxed.

Soon, his chatty nature resurfaced, bringing a harmonious atmosphere to the gathering.

The dishes were served quickly.

Mia, truly hungry, focused on her meal. Whenever someone spoke to her, she responded naturally, confident and at ease.

When work-related topics arose, Mia didn’t interrupt and continued to enjoy her meal.

To Mia’s left was Jensen, and to her right was Clark, who was perhaps the most familiar face to her, hence his seat beside her.

While they discussed business, Clark, uninterested, leaned over and whispered to Mia, "Sis-in-law, don’t mind them. They always talk shop, so boring."

"Is Jensen always like this at home too, just focused on work? Do you find him boring?"

Mia raised her eyes to respond, only to see Clark suddenly looking terrified, his eyes wide.

Following his gaze, she found Jensen looking at Clark with an indifferent expression.

Mia: "..."

Clark: "..." Please, someone shoot me.

Jensen gave Clark a cold glance and then calmly removed the disposable gloves from his hands, placing a small plate of peeled shrimp in front of Mia: "Here, eat."

Mia paused, then lowered her eyes to the neatly peeled shrimp in front of her.

She picked one up with chopsticks, the taste bursting with shrimp’s fresh flavor.

After eating two, she sensed the gaze from next to her. Slowly, she lifted her head, her beautiful lips curling into a smile, her almond eyes sparkling as she shot Jensen a sweet smile.

The others exchanged looks, all appearing as if they’d seen a ghost.

How could they not be shocked? When had they ever seen Jensen like this, peeling shrimp for someone else, was a rare sight indeed.

They finished dinner quickly. Clark initially wanted to invite them to karaoke, but having messed up twice today, he didn’t dare suggest it. Now, he just wished to lower his presence.

Brian and the others were tactful enough that throughout the dinner, Mia never felt uncomfortable.

On the contrary, they discussed a wide range of topics, and Mia learned quite a bit from the conversation.

As they were leaving, Mia took Jensen’s arm, paused, and turned back to Clark, smiling as she said, "Jensen isn’t that boring at home."

Clark: "..." Enduring Jensen’s glares was one thing, now he had to watch this lovey-dovey exchange too. Exhausting.

As soon as Mia finished speaking, Jensen glanced down at the girl beside him who was smiling sweetly, and a hint of a smile appeared in his own eyes.

Once everyone parted ways, it was already late, with only a few scattered pedestrians on the street.

Jensen stopped and asked Mia, "Want to take a walk to digest?"

Mia, hearing this, looked up at him and blinked.

They had indeed eaten late, and she accidentally overindulged, so a walk might aid digestion and prevent her stomach from feeling uncomfortable.

Then Jensen watched as she nodded her head like a chicken pecking at rice, looking adorably obedient.

He reached over and adjusted her scarf upwards: "Alright, let’s go."

With just her eyes visible, Mia followed Jensen.

Occasionally, other pedestrians passed by, but none recognized them. Who’d expect such high-profile individuals to be strolling down the street like this?

Mia sometimes worried about being recognized, but seeing Jensen remain unfazed, acting like it was no big deal, she gradually relaxed too. After all, if they were discovered, Jensen would likely face more trouble.
