Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!-Chapter 242: Taking Exams
The Aethelgard University is very large, with a traditional symmetrical architecture centered around the library, and everything else is built symmetrically.
Mia Sutton had been wandering for a long time and still couldn’t find the administration office. It was the first time she realized she was directionally challenged.
If she weren’t wearing a mask now, she would definitely feel a slight embarrassment.
Then she said, "I’m going to the administration office."
The two girls, upon hearing this, happily offered to guide Mia Sutton.
Quickly, they reached the place, and the two girls happily bid farewell to Mia Sutton and then left.
Mia Sutton first contacted a counselor and briefly explained her intent. The counselor hesitated for a moment. Attending exams without going to class... such a matter was beyond his decision-making power.
He finally took Mia Sutton directly to the principal’s office.
......
After listening to Mia Sutton, the principal was silent for a moment, then spoke, "Mia, now that you’re an artist, I understand your approach. But you know, only attending exams without going to classes is against the rules."
"Moreover, if you don’t attend classes, your grades are bound to be affected. If by then you don’t meet our school’s requirements, you will be expelled."
Mia Sutton stood there properly, dressed very ordinarily, yet one could feel she was different just by standing there.
She didn’t feel any displeasure from the principal’s words; instead, she maintained a courteous smile on her face.
Besides the principal, the dean of their Chinese Language and Literature department was also in the office.
After the principal finished his words, he looked at the girl standing before him, with a kind smile, and slowly said, "You’re Mia Sutton, right? I know of you."
"I’ve watched your performances. You blend Han elements with modern ones very well on stage, and I quite enjoyed watching it."
He also talked about some of the elements she portrayed on stage, slowly speaking with a pace neither fast nor slow. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Perhaps because the old dean worked in the field of Chinese Language and Literature, his tone was very gentle, giving people a comfortable feeling.
A slight surprise flashed in Mia Sutton’s eyes. She hadn’t expected the old dean would know of her and had seen her performance.
"I’m also glad to know you’re a student from our department. You’re letting others understand and love Han elements in your own way, but not coming back to attend classes is somewhat inappropriate."
Mia Sutton quietly listened to what the principal and the dean said, and then smiled, speaking calmly, "That’s true, sir. I know not attending classes and only taking exams is somewhat inappropriate. But what if I guarantee my exam results are in the top five of my major?"
"My work doesn’t allow me to attend classes like other students, but I will use my spare time at work to study and won’t fall behind in my courses."
"In that case, can I only participate in the final exams? Of course, if my grades fall out of the top five of the major, I will return to the school to study. If I don’t meet the school’s requirements for students, you can expel me. Is that acceptable?"
After listening to Mia Sutton, the principal and the dean were silent for a moment, then heard the dean say, "Mia, I’ve seen your record. Your grades aren’t very promising. Are you sure you can?"
Mia Sutton nodded, "I can. If the teachers don’t believe it, I can do each subject’s test paper on the spot."
The dean lowered his eyes, pondered for a moment, then opened his mouth slowly, "Well then, let’s have a look at the test papers for now."
The dean agreed, nodding after hearing her words.
Soon after, teachers were contacted, and test papers were brought – some from the freshman and sophomore years, including all exam subjects, professional courses, and some basic courses.
"These are backup test papers compiled by our school’s teachers last year, not publicly released. Since you took a break in your sophomore year, you can choose to do only the freshman ones."
Looking at the test papers on the table, Mia Sutton smiled slightly and said, "Can I do the sophomore ones as well?"
The two elderly gentlemen raised their eyes in surprise and then said, "If your ability permits, you may."
The dean, in particular, had reviewed Mia Sutton’s grades. Her entrance scores were decent, but those in her freshman year were rather... unbearable. She directly took a break in her sophomore year.
But since she said so, the dean suddenly felt she might actually be capable.
Both from the girl’s demeanor and her tone, they could feel she wasn’t just talking big.
They hoped she wouldn’t disappoint them.
After Mia Sutton said ok, she sat down on one of the seats. The table was filled with various test papers, separately placed for freshman and sophomore years.
Mia Sutton looked at those things on the desk, exhaled lightly, took out a pen, and began writing.
She first tackled the professional course papers, various literary histories, and literary analyses, among many others.
As Aethelgard is a top university in the country, their exam papers are of a very high standard. They require students’ independent thinking and understanding of some literary works, cover a very broad range, not just what’s in books, but also involve other fields, making it quite difficult.
Mia Sutton felt it while doing the papers, but for her, it was okay. After all, her knowledge reserves in this area were sufficient, completing the process seamlessly and swiftly.
Until the last few questions, her speed finally slowed down, thinking over them slightly, but not for long periods.
One by one, the papers passed through her hands. Two hours and more went by, and the papers on her table grew fewer and fewer.
Finally, only the physics, advanced mathematics, and calculus ones were left.
Mia Sutton lightly shook her hand that had gone slightly sore due to lengthy writing, then quickly started on those.
Upon seeing the papers, Mia Sutton gently chuckled. She had practiced these types of questions over the past few days, and many questions were those Jensen Sterling had helped her predict.
That’s right, predict. Jensen Sterling had reviewed the past years’ exams from Aethelgard and compiled some key questions, which he printed out. The following days, Mia Sutton worked on the papers Jensen compiled.
Seeing the familiar question types, Mia Sutton did them quickly and smoothly. She didn’t even notice how much time passed before she finished the papers.
There were some questions she didn’t know but not many, and they shouldn’t have a significant impact.
Sitting for too long, she slightly straightened her waist, then stood up, carrying the papers over.
"Teachers, I’m done writing."
Since Mia Sutton had been working on the papers for a long time, the two elderly men had started playing chess. When Mia Sutton spoke, they realized she had finished writing.
The principal put down his teacup and stood up from his chair.
"Come, Mr. Zhang, let’s take a look at Mia’s papers together."
