Contract Marriage: Abusive Love with Mr.CEO-Chapter 571 - 298: So Sweet 2_2
Rebecca Quentin nodded absently, "Mm." At that moment, she was still thinking about the little maid just now... Oh god, that little girl must have misunderstood her being like this and still doing something with him, right?
Geoffrey had already gotten up and left.
Rebecca Quentin tugged at the quilt in frustration, feeling like she had lost her dignity in this house.
After Geoffrey left, the little maid timidly came in from outside.
"Miss Quentin."
Faced with the little girl’s shy expression, Rebecca Quentin was so embarrassed she wanted to find a hole to hide in and could only muster a reply, "Hmm?"
The little girl carried a tray with gauze and disinfectant, bowing her head she said, "I’m here to help you change the gauze."
"Okay."
After changing the gauze, Rebecca Quentin leaned idly against the headboard.
The wound on her abdomen no longer seemed so painful, perhaps due to her mood, as long as she didn’t touch it.
Thinking she might have to lie in bed for ten days or so, Rebecca Quentin felt rather annoyed.
How wonderful it would be if she could go to New York with Geoffrey to stay by Andrew’s side!
Just as Rebecca Quentin was sighing, a servant came in carrying a bowl of porridge.
The servant said respectfully, "Miss Quentin, have some porridge."
Rebecca Quentin took the bowl, and glanced at the plain porridge, her eyebrows furrowing slightly.
She had just heard Geoffrey say he had cooked something for her, and she thought it would be something tasty, but it turned out to be a plain bowl of porridge with no condiments.
Oh heavens...
Am I really going to have to eat just porridge starting today?
Noticing her expression, the servant explained, "Miss Quentin, the doctor instructed that you should only eat plain porridge for the next couple of days."
Rebecca Quentin nodded helplessly and took the porridge.
The servant smiled with satisfaction.
Looking at the porridge in her hands, Rebecca Quentin, despite her hunger, found it hard to eat.
"What’s the matter, not hungry?"
Geoffrey, upon entering the room, saw Rebecca Quentin gazing at the porridge absentmindedly.
Rebecca Quentin looked up at Geoffrey, a trace of desolation in her eyes.
Geoffrey sat down on the edge of the bed and took the bowl from Rebecca Quentin’s hands.
The servant wisely stepped aside.
Looking at the unappetizing plain porridge in his hand, Geoffrey spoke softly, "When you were discharged, Doctor Henley told me that for your abdominal wound to heal better, you should only have plain porridge for the next couple of days. Once the wound starts to heal better, you can start eating some meat."
Rebecca Quentin nodded quietly, "I know."
"I’ll feed you."
"Mm."
Geoffrey then blew on the still hot porridge, gently scooped a spoonful, and fed it to Rebecca Quentin.
Eating the porridge Geoffrey fed her, Rebecca Quentin smiled sweetly.
Geoffrey, influenced by Rebecca Quentin’s smile, couldn’t help but frown, "What’s up?"
Rebecca Quentin took back the bowl from Geoffrey, smiling, "I feel like you’re treating me like a kid."
Geoffrey ruffled Rebecca Quentin’s hair, "I’m afraid you’ll think it’s nasty."
Rebecca Quentin admitted, "To be honest, the porridge isn’t bad, I just don’t know when my taste became so picky."
"Oh? Who spoiled your taste?"
At this moment, Rebecca Quentin didn’t say anything.
The person who had spoiled her taste was Chester Robinson.
If not for seeing this bowl of plain porridge now, she wouldn’t have realized it had been so long since she’d eaten something so simple.
Back when she was working at "QCS," aside from having a work meal at noon in the company, breakfast and dinner were almost always taken care of by Chester Robinson.
In the morning before going to work, Chester usually had breakfast ready for her, and in the evening after work, he either took her out for dinner or cooked for her at home...
Chester’s cooking skills were excellent, he rarely needed her to cook, and gradually, her stomach grew accustomed to the high-quality meals he prepared.
Only at this moment did she realize that she had never truly appreciated Chester’s kindness towards her.
Seeing Rebecca Quentin not answering for a long time, Geoffrey smiled and said, "It’s okay to be spoiled, our family will make sure you eat well."
Rebecca Quentin gave a faint smile and remained silent. She didn’t want to talk much about Chester in front of Geoffrey, knowing how petty the man in front of her could be.
As the atmosphere grew slightly silent, Geoffrey’s phone suddenly rang.
Rebecca Quentin looked up at Geoffrey.
Geoffrey took out his phone, glanced at the number displayed on the screen, and frowned.
Curious, Rebecca Quentin put down the bowl and asked, "Who’s calling?"
Geoffrey directly showed Rebecca Quentin the phone screen.
Rebecca Quentin took a look at the screen, and when she saw the words "Alice Robinson" there, her breathing immediately tightened.
Geoffrey wrapped an arm around Rebecca Quentin and directly pressed the speaker button on the phone before answering the call.
From the phone came Alice Robinson’s frantic voice, "Geoffrey, thank heavens you finally answered my call... Where are you? I’ve been looking everywhere for you and couldn’t find you..."
Rebecca Quentin’s face turned pale as she stared wide-eyed at Geoffrey.
Geoffrey’s hand was resting on Rebecca Quentin’s waist, and he replied into the phone calmly, "I’m in T City."
"T City?" Alice Robinson in the phone sounded extremely surprised, "Why did you go to T City?"
Geoffrey replied coolly, "Didn’t Lisa Cecily tell you the reason?"
"No, I haven’t gone to ’Skytop’ yet..."
"Okay, when you go to ’Skytop’ tomorrow, Lisa will explain it to you."
"But you..."
Before Alice could finish, Geoffrey had already ended the call.
Rebecca Quentin stared blankly as Geoffrey ended Alice’s call, a feeling of unpleasantness slowly growing in her heart.
Geoffrey tossed the phone aside and gently asked Rebecca Quentin, "Shall I have the servant bring you more porridge?"
Rebecca Quentin shook her head, "No, I’m full."
Geoffrey signaled the servant to take away the bowl, then adjusted his posture, lifting Rebecca Quentin’s downcast face and gently asked, "What’s wrong? Your mood seems to have turned bad suddenly."
Rebecca Quentin didn’t look at Geoffrey and said flatly, "I thought Alice wouldn’t call you anymore."
She admitted it made her feel uncomfortable to see Alice calling him.
She thought that when he came to pick her up, there would be no one else in their world, but Alice just called asking about his whereabouts, and these intimate gestures suggested they hadn’t cut ties yet.
