Contract Marriage: Abusive Love with Mr.CEO-Chapter 560 - 293: Sweetness in My Heart
-----------------------------------------
Rebecca Quentin was startled awake by a nightmare.
Perhaps it was because she had interacted with Chester Robinson tonight, but her dream was unexpectedly about him.
It wasn’t a particularly frightening dream, just that apart from dancing at Chester’s villa, he also kissed her...
Of course, she reached out to push him away...
And it was during her resistance that she suddenly awoke from the dream.
Sitting up and leaning against the headboard, brushing her forehead, Rebecca realized she had broken out in a cold sweat.
Getting up to pour herself a glass of water, Rebecca sighed softly.
For more than a week, she often woke up from dreams in the middle of the night. Without exception, every dream was about her and Howard Geoffrey together, except for tonight, where she dreamed of Chester.
Perhaps it’s because deep down she truly feels guilty towards Chester...
However, she had no choice but to refuse Chester, because no matter what, she could never be with him, even if she could let go of Howard, not that she could anyway.
Since returning to T City for over a week, she has been thinking of Howard all the time...
She really misses him, hoping that he would come to pick her up soon.
Actually, she roughly guessed what he was dealing with in New York... he must be handling his matters with Alice Robinson.
She didn’t know how he would deal with it, but she no longer wanted to care. As he said, leave all the worries to him, she just needed to wait for him in peace.
Thinking of this, Rebecca walked to the window.
Drawing back the curtains, as she had done every night this past week, she quietly gazed downstairs from her suite.
Yes, she missed him very much...
She so wished that one night, when she suddenly opened the curtains, she would see his car parked downstairs, and then he would appear in front of her with surprise...
Unfortunately, fantasies are always beautiful; she didn’t know how long she still had to wait.
Picking up the phone, Rebecca dialed a string of numbers.
The phone on the other end was quickly answered, "Hello..."
"Auntie, it’s me."
"Becca, I know, it’s late over there for you. I didn’t expect you to call so late..."
Rebecca leaned against the window and asked with a gentle smile, "Have you been well recently?"
Mrs. Geoffrey replied, "After taking the supplements you bought me last time, my waist is much better..."
"When I have the chance to go to New York, I’ll bring you more."
"Okay... By the way, why haven’t you gone to sleep so late?"
"No, I just got up to have a glass of water, and I thought since it’s still daytime over there..."
Mrs. Geoffrey interrupted Rebecca, "Are you missing Andrew?"
"Yes."
"That little gremlin, he’s quite the handful right now..."
Rebecca’s eyes brightened, "Really? How is he being mischievous?"
"That little rascal insisted on being with his daddy. At that time, his daddy was busy in the study dealing with work... so I carried the little one to the study. His daddy was on a call, so I placed him on the desk to crawl around. Little did I know, this little guy seemed to have his eyes on the ink pen and managed to knock it over, messing up all the documents on his daddy’s desk... When Howard finished the call and saw the mess his son had made, he was not pleased. Yet, the little one, sitting on the desk, first glanced at his own ink-stained little feet, then looked innocently at his daddy, as if saying he was ’hurt’ too. You should’ve seen your son in that moment, he was exceedingly clever... Howard was initially going to deal with work, but with Andrew stirring things up so much, he ended up taking him to the garden to play..."
Listening to Mrs. Geoffrey’s recount, Rebecca seemed to have already pictured the scene in her mind and laughed whole-heartedly.
Mrs. Geoffrey sighed, "This little devil is much more troublesome than his daddy was at this age, and he’s just over one year old now..."
"Auntie, I really appreciate your effort."
"Not at all... A little mischief is good. Maybe he’ll be more accomplished than his daddy when he grows up... But accompanying this little devil, I think of how wonderful it would be if there could be a well-behaved little granddaughter someday..."
Rebecca smiled, but her eyes gradually darkened.
Mrs. Geoffrey realized the misstep in her words and quickly corrected herself, "Uh, Becca, don’t misunderstand, I’m not implying that Howard should have a daughter with someone else in the future. You should know that no matter what, I hope you and Howard end up together. But when it comes to matters of the heart, as his mother, I..."
