Contract Marriage: Abusive Love with Mr.CEO-Chapter 478 - 252: Playing the Fool to Outsmart the Tiger 4
The little guy woke up very early, well-rested and full of energy, staring around with big eyes as soon as he opened them.
Rebecca Quentin took Andrew Geoffrey into the bathroom to change his diaper, gave Andrew a quick wash of his butt and face, then put the cheerful Andrew back on the bed to let him play by himself.
As Rebecca sat on the edge of the bed watching Andrew play happily ―
"He usually wakes up this early at home too."
The sudden voice startled Rebecca. She turned and realized Howard Geoffrey was sitting beside her without her noticing. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Rebecca quickly got up, putting some distance between herself and Howard. "I know, he used to wake up early."
Howard sat on the edge of the bed, looking at Rebecca who had pulled far away, his handsome eyebrows slightly furrowed.
Rebecca turned and walked towards the bathroom, "Watch him for a bit, I’m going to freshen up."
Rebecca never expected to see such a scene when she came out of the bathroom.
Howard was crouched down, holding the standing Andrew, speaking gently to him, "You’re a man, you can’t cry later, understand?"
Andrew blinked his innocent eyes, partially understanding, only able to repeat his father’s words, "Dad... cry... cry..."
Rebecca had heard Isabella Joanna and Mrs. Geoffrey mention that Andrew already knew how to call Howard. Hearing Andrew clearly call Howard "Dad," Rebecca found it somewhat unbelievable, yet she was deeply drawn to the warm scene.
Howard lowered his stern face, "Daddy said you can’t cry."
Young Andrew really wanted to agree with his father, but his childish little brain didn’t yet know how to express it, so he continued, "Cry... cry..."
"Andrew Geoffrey!" Someone assumed a more authoritative fatherly demeanor.
"Dad..."
Young Andrew completely ignored his father’s authority, spreading his arms around his father’s neck, clearly acting spoiled.
Rebecca couldn’t help but laugh at the sight. She never imagined that the usually high and mighty, extraordinarily noble "Mr. Geoffrey," had no means at all with Andrew.
Howard glanced over at Rebecca, a noticeably awkward line on his handsome face.
Rebecca hurriedly contained her laughter, pretending she hadn’t seen anything.
At this moment, there was a knocking sound at the door, and Rebecca cleverly went to open it.
The person at the door was exactly whom Rebecca expected, Mrs. Geoffrey...
Mrs. Geoffrey smiled at Rebecca, though her side glance had already taken in the scene in the room, yet the room’s situation was clearly disappointing to her, as there was no sign of disorder.
Even in disappointment, Mrs. Geoffrey remained composed, smiling as she greeted Rebecca, "Morning."
Rebecca politely nodded in return, "Morning."
Mrs. Geoffrey then walked into the room.
Inside, Howard had already picked up Andrew, the little kid showing extra joy at seeing his grandma.
Mrs. Geoffrey took Andrew from Howard’s arms, saying, "The doctor said he needs a blood test later, so he can’t eat anything this morning. You two go have breakfast; I’ll take Andrew to the hospital first."
"Uh, Auntie, it’s fine, I don’t eat breakfast, I’ll go with you to the hospital!"
Rebecca indeed didn’t have a breakfast habit; in T City, Chester Robinson usually bought her breakfast, but if Chester were on duty, she’d skip breakfast.
Even though Rebecca was speaking the truth, in Mrs. Geoffrey’s eyes, it seemed like she was deliberately avoiding someone, and the person in question probably shared this understanding.
Unable to do anything, Mrs. Geoffrey could only agree with Rebecca, "Let’s go!"
Y City Children’s Hospital.
When Rebecca and Mrs. Geoffrey arrived at the hospital, Skyler Jones was already there.
Christine Quinn was in the ward accompanying Marilyn Quinn, trying to keep things light-hearted, so Marilyn wouldn’t feel this was a life-threatening situation.
Mrs. Geoffrey hadn’t seen Skyler the night before, so upon seeing him now, she was filled with things she wanted to say.
Rebecca naturally understood Mrs. Geoffrey’s eagerness, so she took Andrew out of Mrs. Geoffrey’s arms, giving mother and son some private space.
Skyler now treated Mrs. Geoffrey much better than before; at least, he responded when she spoke to him.
Watching them get along from afar, Rebecca felt happy for them, yet after the happiness, she looked down at Andrew in her arms with sadness.
Though Andrew was quiet in her arms, not crying or fussing, his gaze toward her was still unfamiliar. If not for being able to see his grandma’s presence in his line of sight, he would’ve likely been crying and fussing already.
