Contract Marriage: Abusive Love with Mr.CEO-Chapter 472 - 249: Playing Dumb to Outsmart the Wise 1
At this moment, Rebecca Quentin hurriedly said, "Oh no, it’s late, Doctor Robinson, I won’t talk to you anymore. I’m going back to pack up a bit, I need to get to bed early..."
"Go on."
Only Rebecca Quentin knew how much anxiety she carried upon her return.
Closing the door, she leaned against the door panel and took a deep breath. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
She really felt useless; it was just a conversation about this person, what was the big deal.
The next morning at ten, Rebecca Quentin had already landed in Y City.
Rebecca came with two designers, originally thinking that her immature social and design skills needed their support, but unexpectedly, the two designers claimed airsickness discomfort and requested to rest at the hotel.
Rebecca was well aware that even if these two designers accompanied her to "Oversky," they would only stand by idly, maybe even wait to see her fail. Helplessly, she decided to go to "Oversky" on her own.
After putting her luggage in the hotel where she was staying, Rebecca called the relevant person in charge at "Oversky."
It went smoothly; the person in charge said she could come over anytime.
Wanting to finish the talk quickly so she could go find Christine Quinn, Rebecca rushed to "Oversky" without resting at all.
Rebecca used to work at "Oversky," and everyone there was familiar with her. To avoid unnecessary trouble, she deliberately applied heavy makeup and wore sunglasses, a stark difference from her previous neat and fresh appearance alongside Skyler Jones.
Sure enough, the receptionist didn’t recognize her. After she explained her reason, the receptionist called the relevant responsible party and then led her towards the elevator.
After more than a year, standing once again on "Oversky"’s ground, Rebecca felt an inexplicable sense of peace.
Yes, this place actually held many memories for her; she still remembered Skyler Jones’s care for her in the past...
Mr. Eugene’s assistant poured her a glass of water and courteously said, "Miss Quentin, please wait here, Mr. Eugene will be here soon."
"Alright."
After Mr. Eugene’s assistant left, Rebecca put down the cup and glanced around this familiar place once more.
The expansive floor-to-ceiling window made her unknowingly get up...
In the past, when she followed Skyler Jones, she noticed that both Skyler Jones and Howard Geoffrey liked to stand in front of the floor-to-ceiling window to ponder, but she had never paid attention to what the view outside the window was like.
Standing doubtfully before the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the unobstructed view beyond the glass curtain, she unexpectedly felt a sense of isolation, very quiet and serene, as if the whole world was fixed there, allowing her to open her mind and gain clarity, yet there was also a hint of loneliness present.
"Becca."
Suddenly, a rich, low voice sounded behind Rebecca.
That familiar voice made Rebecca’s body stiffen, and she slowly turned around, her gaze locking with the person who had come.
Skyler Jones stood rooted in place, seemingly having not looked at her properly like this in a long time, his eyes surprisingly deep.
Rebecca said plainly, "I thought I had an appointment with Mr. Eugene."
Skyler Jones approached Rebecca, gazing at her, explaining softly, "He recognized your voice and found out your surname is Quentin, so he informed me."
Rebecca frowned, "Wasn’t this your deliberate arrangement?"
"I did know you were at ’QCS,’ and indeed it was because of your connection that ’Oversky’ collaborated with ’QCS,’ but I didn’t expect you to come to Y City as a designer."
Rebecca averted her gaze, her eyelids lowered, calmly saying, "Long time no see."
Skyler’s eyes remained fixed on Rebecca’s beautiful yet slender face, tenderly saying, "Can’t you take care of yourself?"
Facing Skyler’s concern, Rebecca coldly replied, "I think I don’t have the time to reminisce with you. I still want to visit my sister later; can we talk about the design project?"
Skyler simply said, "You’ve already come; do we even need to discuss it?"
Rebecca suddenly lifted her gaze to look at Skyler, "You should handle business affairs professionally."
Skyler swiftly grasped Rebecca’s frail shoulders, "Why does seeing me make you so impatient?"
Rebecca remained silent.
Skyler’s voice was slightly hoarse, "In half a year, I called you countless times, sent you countless messages, yet you never replied to me. Do you hate seeing me that much?"
