Contract Marriage: Abusive Love with Mr.CEO-Chapter 412 - 219: He Let Her Go (1)
Howard Geoffrey struggled to remain calm. "Where is it?"
"In Miss Quentin’s hands."
At this moment, Rebecca Quentin also temporarily forgot her estrangement with Howard Geoffrey. She walked up to him and handed him the letter. "The servant said it was left by the old lady for you and me. I haven’t read it yet."
Howard Geoffrey took the letter, glanced at it, then angrily crumpled the paper into a ball, standing with hands on hips in the hall, his entire body exuding an aura of rage.
It was the first time Rebecca Quentin saw Howard Geoffrey explode with such fury in front of others, leaving her stunned.
The servant told Rebecca Quentin that Andrew had woken up, so she returned to the room.
When Rebecca Quentin comforted Andrew and carried him downstairs, Howard Geoffrey was nowhere to be seen in the villa’s lobby, but his secretary Lisa Cecily was still there.
Rebecca Quentin couldn’t help but ask Lisa Cecily, "Where’s Howard Geoffrey?"
Lisa Cecily said, "The president went to the police station personally."
Rebecca Quentin furrowed her brows with worry, "How did this happen?"
Lisa Cecily shook her head, "The president just returned from Italy, and as soon as he got off the plane, he received a call from the servant. He already rushed back as fast as he could..."
"Lisa, can you help look after Andrew for me?"
"Are you going to the police station?"
"Yes, I want to understand the situation clearly."
"Miss Quentin, since you’re pregnant, it’s better not to go. Be patient and wait for the president to come back!"
Rebecca Quentin pondered for a few seconds and finally nodded.
Well, considering her current relationship with Howard Geoffrey, what identity should she assume to appear at the police station? Besides, even if she went, she couldn’t be of any help.
"Alright."
Lisa Cecily suddenly asked, "Miss Quentin, may I overstep and ask, have you and the president been having a rough time recently?"
Rebecca Quentin remained silent and did not answer.
Lisa Cecily sighed softly, "I knew it, there’s definitely something wrong between you two, otherwise the president wouldn’t have stayed in Italy for two extra days..."
Rebecca Quentin looked up, "He went to Italy?"
"Yes, there was a problem with the project in Italy, but the president has already resolved it..."
"Oh."
"Miss Quentin, did something happen between you and the president?"
Rebecca Quentin said flatly, "Nothing."
Feeling that Rebecca Quentin was masking her sadness, Lisa Cecily couldn’t help but say, "Miss Quentin, I don’t know what caused the dispute between you and the president, but I really believe it hasn’t been easy for both of you to reach this point. Please be a bit more understanding of each other... I must say, the president really cares about you. In Italy, I often saw him take out his phone intending to call you, but he must have known you wouldn’t answer, so he never dialed... Also, he bought you a gift in Italy, personally picking it out in the store. I even teased him, asking if he was trying to please you, and he told me he just hoped he could please you..."
Listening to Lisa Cecily talk about so many trivial things he did in Italy, Rebecca Quentin couldn’t help but feel a twinge in her nose, but thinking about her father’s death, she still couldn’t let it go.
"Miss Quentin, there are so many women outside who want even the slightest connection with the president, yet for so many years, you’re the only one he’s ever cared about. You should be able to feel that."
"But if two people were doomed from the beginning not to have a good ending, then whether he cares or not becomes irrelevant."
Lisa Cecily couldn’t understand what Rebecca Quentin was saying and only sighed that the path of love between Howard Geoffrey and Rebecca Quentin was too convoluted.
On the way back from the police station, Jason Wood was on edge.
He had just spoken with the chief of police at the station...
Of course, the police chief wanted to flatter his boss, and since the old lady surrendered, the chief said that as long as the old lady claimed illness and said it was nonsense, the police could release her...
But who knew that the old lady refused to see the boss or claim illness, and had already handed over evidence of her crime to the police...
In this situation, even if the boss had extraordinary abilities, he probably couldn’t help the old lady. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
And he couldn’t figure out why the old lady surrendered, let alone why she refused to see the boss.
The car was eerily silent, as if the temperature had dropped to freezing point with the chilly atmosphere Howard Geoffrey emanated.
Jason Wood didn’t dare make a sound, driving cautiously back to the villa.
Once back at the villa, Howard Geoffrey went straight into his study.
Sitting in the chair behind his desk, he took out the letter his mother left for him and read it again.
