Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 78: Preparing to Cooperate with Julian Huxley
Seeing his tone was about what he had speculated, a dark glint briefly flashed in Maxim Sinclair’s eyes. He then casually remarked, "I noticed Old Master Huxley really enjoys seeing the younger generation celebrating his birthday. Now that Justin Huxley, who grew up abroad, has returned to the country, there’s no one stopping you from going back too!"
Julian Huxley, unaware of Justin Huxley’s whereabouts, was taken aback and looked at Maxim Sinclair in surprise, "Justin Huxley has returned to the country? When did that happen?"
"You didn’t know?" Maxim Sinclair replied, and then asked his assistant in the front seat, "How long has Justin Huxley been back?"
The prepared assistant turned his head and replied, "Mr. Justin came back over a month ago, but I don’t remember the exact time."
Seeing the expression on Julian Huxley’s face constantly changing, Maxim Sinclair suppressed a sneer in his eyes and continued, "Justin has a pretty good relationship with Tina’s father. Omni Industries has several projects that need to collaborate with The Sinclair Group during this period. I’ve seen Justin teaching Tina how to manage the business a few times."
Julian Huxley tightly gripped the glass water bottle in his hand, and after a while, changed the subject: "Maxim, how long will you be abroad this time?"
"I’m not sure yet," Maxim Sinclair shook his head, "It depends on my client’s needs. If things are resolved quickly, I can return fast."
Just as he finished speaking, the car stopped in the hotel parking lot.
Julian Huxley swallowed the words he was about to say and replaced them with something else: "Then shall we meet tomorrow?"
"Sure, I’m staying on the top floor. You can just come find me directly. I happen to have a winery nearby, and I’ll prepare some good wine for you tomorrow. We won’t leave until we’re drunk!"
"Alright."
After watching Julian Huxley leave, Maxim Sinclair’s smile faded, and he turned to instruct his assistant, "Just as planned, let the other four branches of the family abroad hear about Justin Huxley working hard for the Huxley Family."
"It’s already underway," the assistant nodded, "The feedback we have now is that members of the fourth and fifth branches of the Huxley family have already cut short their vacations and booked flights back to the country. Based on the timing, they should have already left their vacation villa."
"Nicely done," Maxim Sinclair stepped into the elevator, tugging his tie loose around his neck, "Old Master Huxley’s birthday is a rare event, it’s supposed to be lively with all his children gathered!"
Who told you to mess with me?
The assistant, Ian Langley, touched his nose and quietly reminded Maxim Sinclair, "But hadn’t Old Master Huxley explicitly said earlier that there would be no birthday banquet this year? Doesn’t rushing over like this without his approval make it seem they want to seize power?"
"Old Master Huxley isn’t stupid," Maxim Sinclair sneered twice, "Besides, these people were never satisfied with Tina’s father inheriting the Huxley Family anyway. They were bound to cause trouble eventually; I’m just bringing things forward a bit."
Noticing the hint of malevolence in his eyes, Ian Langley obediently fell silent and stood quietly in the corner of the elevator.
In a blink, it was the following evening.
Julian Huxley arrived as planned. Maxim Sinclair, waiting for a long time, personally went to open the door for him, "I’ve been waiting for you all this time, why are you only just arriving?"
"The meeting got extended by over half an hour, and then there was a bit of car trouble on the way over, which is why I’m so late."
Julian Huxley offered an apologetic smile and took out a bottle of wine from the paper bag he brought with him, "I just remembered this morning that I also have a bottle of wine stored at a winery nearby. This bottle has quite a few years on it, perfect for us to open today and drink together."
"So, you’re determined not to leave until we’re drunk today!" Maxim Sinclair laughed and gestured for someone to come and open the wine.
After downing half a bottle, Julian Huxley, slightly intoxicated, grabbed a cushion, propping his head up with his arm while his eyes were half-open and half-closed, "Maxim Sinclair, I remember we’ve spent more time together than you have with Justin Huxley, right?"
"Of course," Maxim Sinclair readily admitted, "We truly grew up together, whereas Justin grew up abroad. Naturally, we share a deeper bond."
"Hearing that puts me at ease!" Julian Huxley spoke without rhyme or reason, then boldly downed the red wine in his glass, "We’ve drunk, so let’s talk business now! Surely you didn’t come to me just for a drink?"
Seeing him finally get to the point, Maxim Sinclair laughed heartily, "We still sync up so well!"
Julian Huxley chuckled, "To be honest, I realized as soon as I saw you yesterday, your trip abroad this time had to be for something more."
"Indeed, there is something I want to discuss, but I’m also helping you out." Maxim Sinclair smiled, stood up, and fetched a folder from the side, placing it in front of Julian Huxley, "Take a look at this first."
"What is it?"
Julian Huxley patted his cheeks, picked up the document, and squinted at it while suppressing a hiccup.
A minute later, Julian Huxley’s expression grew serious. He put the document down and walked over to the restroom, turned on the tap, and splashed his face with a handful of cool water.
Regaining some composure, Julian Huxley returned to his seat, picked up the document again, and carefully read it line by line.
Maxim Sinclair got up and poured two cups of sobering tea from a thermos prepared by his assistant, placing one beside Julian Huxley, "I prepared this sobering tea for you in advance, have some, the clearer your head, the better."
Julian Huxley grabbed the cup, drank the sobering tea in one go, closed the document at hand, and looked up at Maxim Sinclair, "Is this document real?"
Maxim Sinclair smiled and asked back, "Do I need to show you a fake document?"
"You certainly don’t need to," Julian Huxley muttered and then, still suspicious, opened the document again, "But I don’t understand why you’d show me something this important."
"Didn’t you just say? We share a deeper bond than I do with Justin Huxley. That’s why I’m showing you this," Maxim Sinclair replied with a half-smile.
Julian Huxley’s face clearly showed disbelief, "That’s what you say, but isn’t there something else you want me to do?"
"Of course, there is," Maxim Sinclair’s smile remained unchanged, "So, will you do it? After seeing a document this significant, what do you think I’ll ask you to do?"
"Whatever it is," Julian Huxley closed the document, stood up, and approached Maxim Sinclair, "I preemptively wish us a pleasant collaboration. So, am I upfront or what?"
