Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 128: Maxim Sinclair Decides to Hold an Engagement Ceremony
The call ended before Maxim Sinclair could finish speaking.
"You just hung up? Didn’t you ask me this morning to pick a good day so you two could get your marriage license? What’s going on now?"
Charles Jenson looked at his phone, puzzled. "What’s the situation? Was it all just a game? But from his attitude, he seemed very serious."
With doubts in his mind, Charles unconsciously flicked the pillbox in his hand a couple of times. After pondering for a moment, he clenched it in his hand and set out to find Vivian Sullivan.
Sinclair Group.
The company executives, who came for a work report, took a glance at the gloomy face of Maxim Sinclair, and secretly turned to seek assurance from Assistant Collins.
Assistant Collins could only return a look of good luck, stepping forward to pick up the broken pen from Maxim’s desk.
Seeing the person before him standing silently, Maxim grabbed a wet wipe from the side, wiped the ink off his hands, and looked up at the trembling executive. "Did you come to me to act as a statue?"
"No, not at all. I’ll report immediately."
As Assistant Collins went out to throw trash, he hesitated at the door and decided against going back in, instead returning to his desk.
Even though he didn’t know who the call was from or what was said, based on his abundant experience as an assistant, Maxim Sinclair currently resembled an erupting volcano; whoever got close would be cannon fodder.
At this point, Director Nash from the design department came by.
Assistant Collins reached out to stop the person with the files from entering the office. "Don’t go in. Someone’s already reporting inside. If it’s not urgent, it’s best to come back another time."
Assistant Collins had a good rapport with Director Nash. His reminder was immediately understood.
She placed her files aside, pulled a chair over, and whispered to him, "Give me the scoop, who made President Sinclair angry again? The files I have are quite important, and I need to report them by tomorrow, at the latest. Give me a heads-up so I can be prepared."
Assistant Collins looked at her helplessly. "I’m afraid I can’t help you with that, as I’m uncertain myself. I only know the boss got angry after a phone call, but not the specifics."
"Alright then," Director Nash held her files back in her arms, "just let me know when the boss is in a good mood today, and I’ll come to report."
"Looks like what you need to report isn’t good news, huh?" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
"Exactly, what I need to report would get me reprimanded even on normal days," Director Nash was utterly troubled, "and since you said the boss is upset today, if I rush to report, I’ll probably have to head to HR for resignation tomorrow."
As Director Nash was about to leave with her files, she saw the office door open, the executive who had been reporting inside walked out carrying a pile of torn documents, his wide, round face pale and flushed, clearly having been harshly reprimanded by Maxim Sinclair.
Seeing this scene, Director Nash didn’t dare stay a minute longer and quickly slipped away in her high heels after reminding Assistant Collins again.
The executive stopped by Assistant Collins. "President Sinclair asked you to bring a cup of coffee inside."
Assistant Collins didn’t delay; he quickly made a cup of coffee and brought it in. "President Sinclair, here’s your coffee."
"Just leave it there." Maxim Sinclair stood by his desk, tugging off his tie, picked up the coffee, and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window.
Assistant Collins discreetly checked his expression, pulled out the schedule, and after comparing the time, cautiously walked over. "President Sinclair, in ten minutes, you have a video meeting with leaders from several foreign branches, discussing next quarter’s activities."
"Postpone the meeting." Maxim Sinclair took a sip of coffee, turned around with a stern face, and set the coffee cup aside.
Seeing this, Assistant Collins quickly ran through his coffee-making process in his mind, reassured there were no differences, he just attributed it to Maxim Sinclair being in a bad mood.
"Alright, President Sinclair, when do you want to reschedule?"
Maxim Sinclair went over to the wine cabinet in the inner room, brought out a bottle of red wine, and instructed Assistant Collins who was following him, "This meeting isn’t particularly important, postpone it to tomorrow morning."
"Understood, President Sinclair." Assistant Collins made a light mark on the scheduler, "Is there anything else you need changed?"
"Within a week, I need to organize an engagement ceremony with Summer Lowell. You handle all the arrangements."
Surprise and astonishment flashed across Assistant Collins’s face for a moment. "Understood, are there any specific requirements from you or Miss Lowell regarding the style of the engagement ceremony?"
"In a couple of days, I’ll bring Summer over to discuss with you. Follow her preferences." Maxim Sinclair lifted his wine glass, glanced at the focused Assistant Collins taking notes, and instructed once again, "As soon as possible."
"Alright."
Assistant Collins put away his pen and, before leaving, carefully asked Maxim Sinclair, "Should this matter be kept a secret? Considering that Miss Lowell’s company is our competitor, the news of this engagement might complicate her situation at Stellart."
"No need to hide it. I want everyone of significance in Stellarion to attend the engagement ceremony between me and Summer, including their company’s executives. Stellart would be dreaming to have a connection with the Sinclair Family!"
Assistant Collins quietly chuckled to himself.
[I never imagined President Sinclair would win her over so quickly. Impressive!]
After asking all the questions needed, Assistant Collins left the office quietly.
The busy secretary outside inadvertently looked up, seeing Assistant Collins staring off into space, and slid over behind him on a swivel chair. "Did the boss scold you too? I didn’t think someone as understanding as you would ever get reprimanded."
Assistant Collins looked at her with a mysterious expression and, after a while, waved her over with a secretive look. "I have a mind-blowing piece of news. Do you want to hear it?"
The secretary got interested and leaned in to listen. "Tell me, I’m all ears."
"Our President Sinclair is getting engaged. He said the engagement ceremony will be held within a week, a grand event, and asked me to start preparations now."
The expression on the secretary’s face clearly showed disbelief. "Are you messing with me? There’s not a single woman close to our boss besides Director Nash. Who is he getting engaged to? Could it be Miss Huxley, who frequently visits our boss? It doesn’t seem likely, although you can’t be too sure. The Huxley Family and Sinclair Family are well-matched, but it’s a pity for our boss. Although Miss Huxley is considered pretty, she doesn’t quite match our boss."
The conversation caught the attention of those working around.
"Who’s getting engaged? Did I hear correctly? Did you say our boss is getting engaged?"
The secretary pointed at Assistant Collins. "I didn’t say it. He did. If you have questions, ask him. I’m curious too."
