Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 127: Taking Medicine Behind Maxim Sinclair’s Back
Maxim Sinclair looked down at Summer Lowell, who was trying hard to mask her shyness, "It’s not our first time, why are you still shy?"
Summer’s face instantly turned cold, she pushed Maxim away and was about to get up, but he pulled her back forcefully: "Didn’t I just tell you? You must fulfill the duties and obligations of being Mrs. Sinclair. Weren’t we quite compatible before? When you were undercover beside me, you used plenty of tricks, have you forgotten them now?"
Summer awkwardly bit her lip, half standing up, tightening the loose bathrobe around her: "Do you find bullying me amusing?"
As Summer spoke, she turned and walked toward the room. After a couple of steps, Maxim chased her down and picked her up horizontally, then kicked open the door, throwing her onto the bed inside the room.
...
Half an hour later, Summer, with her breathing unsteady, held Maxim by the shoulder, shaking her head in panic.
"Don’t do this, you can’t! This could lead to pregn..."
Maxim realized her meaning, gently pushing her, and leaned in close to her ear: "Mrs. Sinclair, I really want a child. So why not give me one now?"
"No..."
Hearing this, Summer knew that once again, she had fallen into Maxim’s trap.
However, does this count as winning against Tina Huxley?
...
The next morning.
Woken by the alarm, Summer opened her eyes, endured the soreness all over her body, got up and looked at the bed, finding that Maxim had already left. She lay down once more, feeling utterly drained.
Yesterday she really got muddled after drinking, agreeing to sign such a contract marriage.
Thinking about it, she really lost her head.
There’s no use regretting now, she can only take it one step at a time.
A while later, she picked up her phone, called Noah to request some leave.
After that, she called Assistant Fletcher to give some work instructions.
Once everything was confirmed as arranged, Summer lingered in bed a while before getting up to wash and get dressed.
Vivian Sullivan, for some unknown reason, didn’t come back in the morning.
Summer called to ask, only to find out that Vivian was asked by a colleague to cover another shift in the morning.
Thinking about Maxim’s madness last night, Summer decided to go downstairs, take the subway to Mercy Hospital, and find Vivian Sullivan.
Seeing her arrival, Vivian was quite surprised: "Are you not feeling well, or did you come specifically to find me?"
Summer removed the sunglasses from her face, letting out a light sigh.
Coming here today, she had deliberately put on makeup, which is why Vivian didn’t see the fatigue and powerlessness beneath her well-crafted appearance.
"Are you feeling unwell?" Vivian grabbed a medical card, "If you’re really unwell, just tell me directly, you don’t need to go through the trouble of making an appointment."
Summer was silent for a few seconds, "I came specifically to find you, help me get some emergency contraceptive pills, the kind that does the least harm to the body."
"Contraceptive pills?" Vivian raised her head in surprise, "Yesterday... who were you with?"
"Don’t ask, just get them for me."
Vivian noticed something off in her expression, quickly holding her hand, "Why are your hands so cold? What’s really happened?"
Summer was actually embarrassed to mention Maxim Sinclair’s name, "Get me the medicine first, I’ll tell you later."
Vivian looked at her worriedly, then picked up the phone nearby, "I have a little situation here, ask Director Langley next door to see the patients first, once my situation here is handled, then I’ll continue with the consultations."
After hanging up the phone, Vivian locked the door, then sat in front of Summer: "I can get the medicine, but you still need to tell me, what’s really happening? Is this about attending the Sinclair Family’s birthday banquet yesterday, and someone bullied you?"
"I blame it on drinking and getting muddled yesterday." Summer held the cup of hot water Vivian poured her, fiercely suppressing the tangled emotions inside before speaking up, "Maxim Sinclair came to me yesterday, saying he knows who my biological parents are, and then didn’t I say before there’s an issue with a leaked document at the company, pinning the blame on me? He found the true culprit of that leak, and with these two things, he set conditions for me to trade, making me be Mrs. Sinclair for a year."
"This Maxim Sinclair is really shameless," Vivian couldn’t help but curse, then holding Summer’s hand with heartache, "So you agreed?"
Summer nodded gently: "I was a bit confused from drinking at the time, and I really care about the matters concerning my parents, so... I lost my head momentarily, and..."
"Darling, how can you be so silly? Though, signing this kind of overbearing contract should be invalid, right?" Vivian said while picking up her phone, planning to consult her lawyer friends, "Let’s not stay in Stellarion, quickly resign or apply for a transfer back to Leonia, I’ll transfer back too, I’ll find some friends in the legal industry to help you out. I don’t believe there’s anyone ruling the world like him."
Summer immediately raised her hand to grasp her wrist: "No need, I’ve already agreed to it, I’ll stick by him for a year."
"Summer!" Vivian shook her head speechless, "Such a man, you still want to stay by his side, do you truly like him then?"
"I don’t."
Summer vehemently denied it.
Seeing her mood was not good, Vivian dared not speak too harshly, putting the phone aside, thinking it over, then reassuredly asking Summer again, "Are you sure Maxim Sinclair really knows the information about your biological parents?"
Summer nodded, then pulled a verification report out of her bag.
Vivian took the report, reading it thoroughly, sighed: "The report is real, though not the original, if you ask me, Maxim Sinclair is definitely despicable enough to use such dirty tricks to deal with you."
"At this point, I can only agree to him for now. It’s just a year, endure it, it’ll pass, if I can truly find out the information about my biological parents, enduring for a year is nothing."
Summer seemingly had figured it out.
"Vivian, help me get the medicine first, I’m afraid if we delay too long it’ll be too late."
"Alright, I’ll get it for you first, take it. But where do you plan to go after taking the medicine? I think with your current state, you’re not fit for work. Why not wait for me, just one more hour and I’ll be off, I’ll go home with you."
Vivian watched over her worriedly.
Afraid she’d worry, Summer forced a smile: "I’m fine, Maxim won’t do anything to me, besides, with his ability, there are countless women in the circle wanting to marry him. Thinking it over, I actually came out ahead."
"You, try to be more clever in the future, see if you can secretly find out about your biological parents’ whereabouts. We’ll take it one step at a time, if it really doesn’t work out, stab Maxim Sinclair in the back, let his plans collapse."
"Alright, I’ll listen to you, I’ll be clever." Summer smiled, stood up and left Vivian, heading to the large hall outside to get her medicine.
Second floor corridor.
Charles Jenson, deliberately came to find Vivian Sullivan, watched Summer come out of the gynecology area, thought it over, and followed her to the first-floor hall.
After Summer got the medicine, she swallowed it down with water right away, then tossed the packaging box into the trash.
Charles watched the entire process, patiently waiting until Summer left, then went to pick up the packaging box she tossed out at the garbage bin.
Looking at the box’s instructions, he dialed Maxim Sinclair’s phone first thing: "Did you know your little darling took medicine?"
On the other end, hearing Charles’s words, Maxim Sinclair forcibly broke the pen in his hand, spoke a long while later: "Let her be, I have things to do, hanging up now."
