Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 120: Pretending to Be Close with Tina Huxley
Maxim Sinclair chuckled mysteriously, "That’s not false. Considering our type of relationship, I really understand her well."
His tone... was enough to provoke baseless speculations.
Justin Huxley seemed alright, having weathered storms before, he didn’t react much.
Tina Huxley was different, her displeasure was visible to the naked eye.
Fortunately, Maxim Sinclair was always walking ahead, not noticing her change of expression.
Taking advantage of Maxim Sinclair being too preoccupied to notice, Justin Huxley put a hand on Tina’s shoulder, giving her a look to signal her to control her expression.
Since Maxim Sinclair was present, Tina could only suppress her discontent.
No problem, even if Summer Lowell was special, that’s all in the past. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
With Justin Huxley around, there was no possibility of continuation between Summer Lowell and Maxim Sinclair.
Halfway through the meal, as it was nearing its end, under Justin Huxley’s hint, Tina asked, "Miss Lowell isn’t done with her work yet? There are many dishes here that are best eaten hot, taking them away would ruin their taste."
Justin Huxley put down the phone he had been fiddling with and, using a tone befitting Summer Lowell’s boyfriend, said to the two opposite, "She said she’s already on her way. Anyway, the restaurant isn’t far from her room, she should be here in less than two minutes."
Soon after saying this, Summer Lowell, truly unwilling to come, succumbed to Justin Huxley’s persistent persuasion and reluctantly sat down at the table that felt like a battlefield.
Mindful of appearances, Tina enthusiastically called over the server, "Miss Lowell, my brother ordered some dishes for you. I’m not sure if they suit your taste, feel free to order some of your own favorites."
Wanting to finish quickly and leave, Summer Lowell glanced at the dining table and immediately closed the menu, handing it back to the server, "The dishes my senior ordered are great, they suit my taste perfectly. There’s no need to order more, these will do."
Justin Huxley laughed heartily and picked up the nearby water bottle, pouring clear water into Summer Lowell’s glass, "I specially requested hot water from the restaurant, I remember your stomach hasn’t been well lately, you don’t feel like drinking alcohol, right?"
Her stomach trouble was initially an excuse, Summer Lowell just wanted to use this excuse to decline Justin Huxley’s drinking invitations these past few days.
But to maintain the facade, she couldn’t, and didn’t dare, say she could drink, so she accepted the glass despite Tina’s teasing laughter.
Keen to know Maxim Sinclair’s current feelings, Justin Huxley intentionally brought him into the conversation, "Maxim, I heard that your company and some businessmen from Porta Azure recently struck a big deal?"
Already half-full, sipping wine leisurely, Maxim Sinclair nodded upon hearing, "You certainly have your ear to the ground."
Justin Huxley laughed, "It’s not that I’m well-informed, it’s just that the Sinclair Group is so famous, every move captures attention, news finds its way to me even without me searching."
With some unspeakable intentions, intending to flaunt a bit in front of Summer Lowell, Tina seized the opportunity to interject, "Was it those businessmen from Porta Azure whom I saw when I visited your office last time, right before they left?"
"Yes, that was them," Maxim Sinclair, rarely patient with Tina, turned to look her in the eye while speaking, "Do you remember, there was a young guy among them, you even complimented his looks?"
Slightly surprised and flattered, Tina froze for a moment, then quickly nodded, "Yes, I remember, you even teased me about only judging by appearances back then."
In truth, what she said wasn’t how it had happened.
That day, Maxim Sinclair’s words were more satirical than teasing.
But Tina, lacking intelligence and looking at Maxim Sinclair through rose-colored glasses, couldn’t grasp his true meaning, which was understandable.
After a while, seeing Summer Lowell put down her chopsticks, Justin Huxley inquired considerately, "What’s wrong? Are the dishes not to your taste?"
Summer Lowell picked up a napkin, gently wiping the corner of her mouth, "No, the food is delicious, but I ate too much this morning and I’m not hungry, eating this much is enough."
"How can that be," Justin Huxley frowned worriedly, "Didn’t you say you were going swimming this afternoon? Swimming takes a lot of energy, so how about you pack some snacks in case you get hungry later?"
Facing him, Tina looked on enviously, "It’s the first time I’ve seen my brother take care of a girl so considerately. It’s really enviable!"
Maxim Sinclair flicked her forehead with his finger, "Your words make it sound like I’ve wronged you."
To outsiders, this banter would certainly look like they were a couple.
At least, that was what Summer Lowell already thought.
Tina covered her forehead with her hand, looking at Maxim Sinclair with playful reproach, "That hurt!"
Maxim Sinclair was unfazed, "Still as delicate as you were as a child. Alright, we’ve finished eating, let’s go. I have a video conference later. You go play first and then come find me when you’re done. I’ll take you back."
Tina seized the opportunity to push further, "Won’t you play with me? It’s rare to come out, don’t bother with the unfinished work."
"Do I look like you, Missy?" Maxim Sinclair grabbed the coat beside him, slinging it over his shoulder, "I have a lot of work to finish, and many employees to support, unlike you who can play at will."
Saying this, he placed his hand on Tina’s shoulder, pushing her towards the exit, while not forgetting to greet the two still seated across the table, "You two, feel free. We’re heading off first."
"Okay, I’ll leave Tina to you, I feel very assured." Justin Huxley watched them leave with a smile.
Summer Lowell nodded politely to Maxim Sinclair, then continued her tussle with the unfinished small cake in front of her.
"Do you like this cake?" Justin Huxley gazed at her intently.
Feeling slightly uncomfortable under his gaze, Summer Lowell pushed the little plate forward, "Eating too much of it becomes cloying."
Seeing her show some impatience, a dark shade flickered in Justin Huxley’s eyes, then he patiently inquired, "What do you want to try next? Swimming or hot springs?"
"I need to work first. A designer is working overtime at the company today, I need to review their drafts later." Summer Lowell smiled apologetically, "Maybe you could go ahead by yourself."
Justin Huxley disapprovingly clicked his tongue, "We agreed to spend the day together, and you didn’t bring your good friend either, and you’re just cooped up inside working. I don’t want to play alone, playing alone is so boring!"
Summer Lowell realized her behavior was somewhat inappropriate and conceded, "Alright, I’ll contact my assistant later to give those designers a day off, and let them leave the drafts on my desk once they’re done. I’ll review them when I go back tonight."
