Cheat Cultivator's Ascension-Chapter 498: Meeting a Familiar Figure (2)
After quite a while of talking about the advancement that his younger self just achieved, the adult Su Xiaotian then points out the sole possible major flaw of having a pedestal larger than the physical body itself.
"... So like I said, now that your pedestal extends beyond your body, the chances of it being damaged is raised quite a bit, so I suggest you start being more careful fighting from now on" the adult Su Xiaotian reminded, his words being considered by the younger one given that he has greater amount of experience, yet with the next word from the Su Xiaotian of the current timeline, the experienced old-timer couldn’t help but feel quite baffled once again.
"If that’s the only problem, then I guess there’s no problem..." the younger Su Xiaotian replies as he manifested the expanded pedestal once again, the corporeal form turning into a complete materialized form, expanding from himself and forming its own meridians, the Primordial Nihility Transcendent Qi circulating all around it causing the pedestal to turn nigh invulnerable to any sort of attack as everything coming towards it can only be absorbed and turned into its own.
"Not to mention this, I can pretty much control when it can interact with anything else and when it is just there, well, it’s pretty much rendered useless in that state, but it won’t come into contact with anything else..." he continued, waiting for the response of his older self.
"How did you even know about this when you just acquired it?" the adult Su Xiaotian asked with quite an intrigued voice, despite already having an idea of what could possibly be the reason for such a case.
’Since it’s his body, it’s not really impossible for enlightenment regarding this new ability to appear...’ he thought to himself, the reply from his younger self pretty much confirming this speculation of his.
"Well, now that I think about it... I just know... Like it’s been a part of me for a long time..." Su Xiaotian replied, quite puzzled by his own words for a while before the fact that he just said points him to one reason, the same one his older self is talking about, an enlightenment.
"Well, forget about it, if that’s the case, then I see no reason for you to worry too much about this since overall, it’s a great progress..." the adult Su Xiaotian pauses before he continues his words.
"Listen well, the pedestal is part of the most important foundation for a cultivator, and well, given that it is a foundation, there’s just no way to improve it once you’ve set everything into stone, that is unless you decide to start from a clean slate and wipe all your progress..." the older Su Xiaotian pointed out, reminding his younger self of this fact, something that due to the surprise of the current situation, forget about this simple yet extremely important fact.
"... what you did, well, is beyond even me, so you have to walk this path on your own from now on... this is completely outside the range of my, our previous speculations..." he paused for a while before he continued with a single reminder that made the Su Xiaotian of the current timeline turn serious as well.
"More than likely, it isn’t a one off thing that finished once you entered the Soul Formation Realm... there’s a great chance of your pedestal growing in size and strength in the future, and there’s also a chance that not only your pedestal, but also your source and soul grows further as well... or it might also be possible that all of them progress..."
"... either way, no matter what happens, make sure to keep it for yourself now, not even our, your mother can know about this, especially since it is a way too dangerous thing to know..."
The older Su Xiaotian’s voice grows heavy as he moves to the latter part of his reminder, the one born in the current timeline sensing this weight, allowing him to figure out the reason for such seriousness.
"It must be something that will pique the interest of those people, right?" Su Xiaotian asked his older self, receiving no confirmation, yet the serious expression remaining on the older figure’s face pretty much confirms his suspicion.
"Don’t worry..." seeing such seriousness, the Su Xiaotian of the current timeline reveals an assuring smile as he moves forward, reaching his hand out to tap the shoulder of his older self, this figure, desolate from the loss of most of his loved ones, aged by the erosion of time, standing quite taller than his figure, yet appears to be all too small in front of him right now.
"... We, I mean you, and even Xiaoyao work so hard to return and give me this chance, so all you have to do now is sit back and watch everything unfold. I’ve worked hard, and will continue to work hard to make the greatest use of this opportunity..."
The younger Su Xiaotian paused for a while as he saw the face that the adult version of him is making gradually turning into the normal, unfettered smile once more, a look of appreciation flashing from his eyes.
All while starting with appreciation, the older Su Xiaotian also couldn’t help but think that this younger version of himself, way less powerful, way less experienced, and way less knowledgeable than him, seems to possess something that even right now, already transcends his own.
Aside from the overwhelming talent, the thing that the older Su Xiaotian is talking about is the heart, the will of the young man in front of him, something that bears the same intent and wishes as himself, and yet, possesses far greater drive to push oneself to enact such intent, to grant oneself such a wish.
’Looking at it like this, it’s like we’re completely different people...’ the adult Su Xiaotian thought to himself with a small laugh of defeat, wondering if it could be one of the biggest reasons as to why he is able to progress like this now.
’He doesn’t lose the heart to cultivate hard for his goals even when presented with all the cheat and shortcut he can take’ he praised in his mind before he opens his mouth, assured that this young man in front of him, his younger self born from this timeline that replaced the destroyed previous one, will achieve the things he never did in his life.
"That is a bold claim, even for myself..." That is the only word that comes out of his mouth as he opens it, the words of gratitude failing to escape inside him, yet given that they are one and the same person, it wasn’t all too hard for the younger Su Xiaotian to know what he truly wants to say.
"That’s a given, there’s no meaning to our title if I’m not capable of doing that at the very least..." Su Xiaotian replied to his adult self, the older figure breaking into a smile as he started looking forward to what the future has in store, feeling extremely relieved as somewhere inside him, the idea of his younger self being able to protect what he failed to turn into nothing but certainty.
