Chapter 128: What I would’ve done?

The dance ended rather pleasanly. Max and Valerie got to dance, something they never had the chance to do in their high school days.

The reason Valerie wore blue was so that she wouldn’t steal the show from the young ones but with her and Max on the dance floor, that effort proved abortive.

They caught the eye of everyone with the waltz they had only ever practiced in the bathroom. Literally.

It was blissful and at the end of it, they walked to the back of the school where there was a glowing waterfall. There, they found a boy confessing to a girl and watched the start of a new relationship.

They stood in a position that was difficult to spot in the darkness, chatting about life and how it would’ve been if they had come to Cambridgeshire together.

They would’ve probably been the most popular students and couples since they would definitely date each other. Or so they said.

They watched another set of students walk towards the glowing fountain. A girl confessed to a boy but unfortunately, she was rejected.

She apologized for any inconvenience and ran off in tears. The boy simply stared at the fountain and shook his head, tucked his hands in his pocket, and walked away.

It was definitely a painful experience but the two simply watched as though they were in a cinema.

"Wow, young love rejection hits hard." Max exclaimed and that reminded Valerie of something.

"Say, if I had rejected you after you proposed to be my boyfriend back then, what would you have done?" She asked him.

"What I would’ve done?" Max looked up at the dark sky, thinking. Then, he dropped his head and laughed. "Haha, given my character, isn’t it obvious what I would’ve done?" He asked.

Yeah, Valerie knew but she wanted to hear it come from him. She needed it in her recording, you see.

"Tell me." She said softly.

Max gazed into her eyes. Then, he took her hand and led her out of the darkness and under the stars.

He pulled her to himself as if trying to continue from where they stopped inside the hall.

"You know, that habit of recording makes you ask a lot of questions, even if you know the answer to it." He said and smiled. "And I like it. I like it when you ask me about the feelings I already told you about." He took a step sideways and she followed. "I like it when you wish to hear my affirmation of affection. I like it, Valerie. So keep asking me these questions."

Valerie stared into his eyes. He was sincere. She only wished to get his words and voice into recording, but she never knew it would make him so happy.

Him being happy made her happy as well.

He held her hand and she swirled, crashing into his arms in a back hug.

"How did you even know I was recording this time? My phone isn’t with me." She said and he chuckled, leaning in to say,

"I just know it."

He turned her around and held her to himself, smiling brightly and looking into her eyes, the stars reflecting beautifully on her ruby-red eyes. It was really beautiful.

"As for the answer to your question," he said. "I hope you’re getting this down."

"I am." She said.

"If you had rejected me back then, I would’ve tried again. There was no amount of time that you would reject me and that I would stay away. I was determined to be your one and only back then and even now. You can’t run from me, Valerie."

"Gosh, are you trying to be romantic right now?"

"Is it working?" He asked.

His soft and warm gaze on her was honestly melting her heart. Of course it was working, but she wasn’t going to say that.

"How about trying harder," She said, averting her eyes. "...Mr Knight in shining armor?"

"That, I can do, princess." He took her hand and kissed it.

And then, the soft gaze changed into something sinister, gazing at her.

"You know," He pulled her to himself and grabbed her butt, causing her to flinch. What did he think he was doing? "...this is another location we haven’t tried ’that’ in yet."

As soon as he said this, Valerie’s eyes widened. Was he crazy? Here?

"Come on." He took her into the darkness and sat on the ground, dropping her to sit on top of him. "It’ll be fun."

"There’s nothing fun about having sex in the back of your sister’s school." Valerie rang in his ear but it went right out the other.

"Does it matter?" He asked and took her hand to touch the bulge in his pants and her eyes widened. This crazy... "See, just the thought of doing it here with you already turns me on." He said and hugged her. "Come on, doesn’t it excite you?"

Valerie gulped. This was dangerous. The students could see them. They... She gulped again. It was a bad idea, yet, she grew greedy. The succubus I’m her found it exciting and her face heated up.

Her nipples perked up, itching to be touched and her hips moved on their own.

"Haha, you feel it too, wifey." Max said, grinning with the excitement in his face. "Don’t worry, I’ll make it quick so they don’t notice we’re gone for too long."

"Don’t ruin my dress, okay?"

"Don’t worry." He tucked his hand in his pocket, smirking. "I brought condoms."

Valerie shivered in excitement. Ah, they both needed help. How could the husband and wife both be sex maniacs? This wasn’t healthy.

Mariam and Tiana went to the car, ready to leave but they couldn’t find Valerie and Max.

Mariam definitely didn’t want to volunteer to be the one to find them when she knew clearly what those two might be up to. They just couldn’t get their hands off each other for one day.

Well, she was glad Valerie wasn’t feeling suffocated by her brother’s persistence.

"Did you say goodbye to that friend of yours?" Tiana asked and Mariam nodded.

"Yeah, I won’t be seeing her from now on so I needed to make it count." She said, smiling softly.

Tiana nodded her head and patted her daughter’s head.

"It’s okay. Love comes to a person more than once. First love never works out." She said, aiming to console her.

"But Brother and Sister Valerie seemed to work out."

"Well, there are exceptions in life." Tiana said, smiling nervously. "And also, if your first love doesn’t love you back, it’s not the end of the world. It only means that person wasn’t the right one for you. If you force it, you might live to regret it so that’s why it’s easier to let go than leave regrets."
