Chaos In The Darkness; Salvatores's Salvation-Chapter 278: The missing wife - I
Evelyn felt the shove before she could even open her eyes. Time and again, she felt shoved into different directions, front and back, and her head hit something each time she moved.
What was happening? The sharp pain in the back of her head indicated that it was not just the shoes that were pushing her but something that had hit her there.
When The vehicle that was constantly moving stopped again and her head hit a hard surface, Evelyn winced.
Trying to find out what it was, Evelyn moved her hand only to find out that they were bound together before she opened her eyes only to look around blindly in the dark.
Where was she?
The last thing she remembered was... Maria? Maria was there, she followed her into the washroom, didn’t she?
Her memory seemed to be a little hazy and disoriented but Evelyn remembered through blurred eyesight that she had seen Maria before fainting.
Why was Maria here? She was just a nanny. Nannies were something that remained in one organisation for one baby or another. Usually they would carry on with their duties until the child was of age to get married and Evelyn was married.
The entire bianchi organisation was no longer there and as far as she remembered, all of the high-ranking members who could afford to have a full time Nanny like Maria had no young children.
Which only led to one more assumption that ever and dreadfully made. Maria was involved who ever was on the other side of the full length wall mirror, the person who had attacked her and knocked her into unconsciousness.
But why would Maria do that? She had been there since the moment Evelyn had arrived into this world and had been there with her throughout her life even when her mother passed away and not to mention, there had been countless times when Maria could have exploited the trust of her father and kidnapped her just like she did today.
So why not do it before when she had the chance of doing it multiple times?
Also, who would involve a nanny into their plans? Nannies had no idea of what was going on in the business. All she was concerned with was the life of the child and those who stepped out of the limit decided for them, often ended up with a bullet inside their head and in a ditch.
With the tight space that she was crammed into, Evelyn knew that it was the back trunk of a car. That was where they had put her in.
After various conclusions that were drawn wildly in her head and some prayers that she sent to God just so she could be found in time, Evelyn felt the car stop.
Shit.
While drawing up every conclusion in her head, she had forgotten to conclude what to do when the car stopped.
So the moment the trunk opened, she did the next best thing. She played dead.
Hauled out of the trunk like nothing but a bag of potatoes and unwanted grocery items, Evelyn was thrown over someone’s shoulder that was very uncomfortable. She felt his bone digging into her stomach and a groan of uncomfort was almost on the verge of slipping out of her lips.
Swinging like how her dead body would, Evelyn kept her lips clamped together. She heard shouts, murmurs and the language that she was highly familiar with, Italian. The guy talked to someone but he talked in a low voice that Evelyn was unable to comprehend anything from.
Then when he was finished he started to move again, making Evelyn hiss in her mind. He was going up the stairs and the jumps made his bone take into her stomach even more.
She had no idea who was watching her or if someone was trailing behind them which was the main reason why Evelyn did not open her eyes.
Otherwise she would have tried to figure out where he was taking her in case she needed an escape plan.
She heard creaking. No idea but that was because she could not open her eyes but she paid close attention to what was happening. Another creek was heard and his footsteps grew louder somehow.
The next thing happened in a second that she could not even comprehend what to do. She felt his hands on her waist and before she knew it, Evelyn was lifted, making her press her lips tightly against one another before she was thrown down on the floor.
Shit, that hurt more than anything and the worst part about it? She could not even say a word. Instead, she rolled her head side to side just to pretend like she was actually unconscious.
But the person did not wait around to see because the moment she was thrown on the floor, his footsteps resumed and a loud bang was heard.
He was gone already? He did not even check if she was awake or not?
For a few seconds, Evelyn kept quiet and kept her eyes closed just to make sure that no one was in the room. Because if they were, they would have surely made a movement by now.
Opening her eyes, she sat up quickly and looked around the room. She was in some kind of cell. Small, dark and damp cell. Something, looking by it, made her feel like this was the place where they would be business only to be forgotten.
"Oh my god," She whispered in horror before palming her entire face in her hands.
How had her life gone from attending a gala in the best dress to being thrown in a prison cell with the same diamonds and dress that she wore?
Feeling the urge to cry, Evelyn crawled to the wall and leaned her back against it before bringing her knees up to her chest.
What was going to happen now? She sniffed. Because by the looks of this room, Evelyn was going to die here.
