CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 2069 - 2077: It Doesn’t Hurt Anymore
"The matter hasn’t reached a conclusion yet. Don’t scare yourself with overthinking. Maybe, as you and dad suggested, he simply has his reasons for cutting off from the outside world voluntarily?" Father Gingery comforted his wife, "James Black, as a child, was like a natural defender; he was more mature than ordinary people from a young age, and had a better sense of insight and control. He’ll be fine."
Because they had to arrange the farewell ceremony for tomorrow, Brooke Black and Father Gingery got up before daybreak to assist Aunt with organizing and arranging the Black Residence.
After daybreak, Brooke Black went to Jane Sampson’s room to wake her up, and then had her head back to her room to continue resting. Then she called Aunt to tidy up Jane Sampson’s room; changing all the bed sheets, duvet cover, and pillowcases, cleaning the entire room spotlessly, making it so that it didn’t appear as if anyone had recently stayed there.
Probably wanting to see Jane Sampson, the Carter Family, all five of them, arrived at around 6 o’clock in the morning.
No other guests would come this early, so Brooke Black simply went upstairs to wake the just newly fallen asleep Jane Sampson to bring her downstairs. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Jane Sampson came downstairs yawning, rubbing her sleepy eyes as she descended.
"You child, this early in the morning, the weather is chilly, and you come out of the room without knowing to wear a coat." Granny Carter saw Jane Sampson coming downstairs in pajamas and scolded her a bit.
Stepping forward, Granny Carter hurriedly took off her shawl to drape it over Jane Sampson’s shoulders.
"Grandma, you wear it yourself. I’m fine, not cold." Jane Sampson waved her hands repeatedly.
"Just wear it when I tell you to." Seeing Jane Sampson standing well in front of her, Granny Carter felt a pang of heartache, patted Jane Sampson’s back of the hand gently, holding back tears, "You child, you really scared us this time! If anything had happened to you, I’d go down there to accompany you."
"Grandma, aren’t I just fine? So no more saying such things." Jane Sampson lightly hugged Granny Carter, "I’m all good now, see, I can jump and hop, eat well, drink well, and stay at home leisurely, isn’t that something to be happy about?"
"What’s so good about that?" Mother Carter looked at the scars on Jane Sampson’s arm, feeling an ache in her heart. She had long known that Jane Sampson was injured but didn’t anticipate that it would be this serious, with scars covering an entire arm.
"Mother, it doesn’t hurt anymore, really." Jane Sampson quickly went to comfort the almost crying Mother Carter, "I escaped the disaster, and blessings are coming. Compared to life, these are nothing. I have good skin, a good foundation, and am still young. Soon, these scars will fade and be unnoticeable."
These words could only fool someone like Bright Sampton, who lacked social experience.
As experienced people, no one from the Carter Family believed that such severe wounds would not leave scars.
Especially Father Carter and Old Sir Carter, who had been through the battles, carried numerous scars to this day, finding it even harder to believe.
"You child, if it hurts, just yell. In front of family, there’s no need to hide it." Father Carter sighed, wishing he could take the pain himself, wishing those scars were on him instead.
"Daddy, why does it seem like none of you believe me!" Jane Sampson stomped her foot, pretending to be angry, glancing at the four elders, finally noticing that James Carter hadn’t spoken since entering, and hadn’t even called out to her once.
