CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 2029 - 2037: Injured by an Assassin
Upon waking up in the morning, there was still a low fever, which lasted throughout the day. By the time it was past eight o’clock in the evening, her body temperature had returned to normal.
Because she took a long nap in the afternoon, even her spirit and physical strength were noticeably restored.
The young man had not returned since he went out in the morning. At around ten o’clock, James Black accompanied Jane Sampson to bed, yet there was still no sign of the young man’s return.
James Black speculated that the young man might be going to the pub with other friends after finishing his business, just like yesterday.
However, unexpectedly, after 1 o’clock in the morning, the young man suddenly returned hurriedly.
Moreover, he returned injured.
His return alarmed the mute aunt and James Black. Seeing that Jane Sampson was still asleep, James Black quickly went downstairs.
As soon as he reached downstairs, James Black saw the young man collapsed on the sofa, gasping heavily. He was clutching his waist, with red blood seeping through his fingers.
"What happened?" James Black hastily walked over, repeatedly asking, "Who hurt you? Is the injury serious? With so much blood lost, why didn’t you first go to the hospital to bandage it?"
James Black thought, it couldn’t be that he got into a brawl at the pub with someone and was injured?
"I think someone has their eye on me." The young man, panting and pressing his unbearably painful wound, said, "When I left the pub, a man I’ve never seen before suddenly blocked me. As soon as he appeared, he hit me with a stick. Fortunately, I hadn’t returned the gun to Big Brother yet, and there were still three bullets left in the gun. I don’t know where the bullets hit that person, but he didn’t seem affected and even chased me all the way out. I didn’t have time to look back much. Luckily, my car was parked nearby, and I didn’t dare waste time, so I hurried to escape back here."
James Black understood, so when that man suddenly appeared and hit him with a stick, it must have been aimed at his waist.
The weather was hot, and he was wearing thin clothes. Plus, he had been drinking at the pub that night, so his blood flow was fast. After the strike, he was injured and lost quite a bit of blood.
"You don’t know that person?" James Black tentatively asked, "Could it be a foe you made somewhere? Did you see what that person looked like?"
"I didn’t see clearly." The young man shook his hand, saying, "He suddenly darted out, and it was in a dimly lit area under the street lamp. I only identified him as a man, about the same height as you, but his build seemed a bit thinner. Oh, and he seemed to be wearing a black suit and black leather shoes."
The more the young man thought about it carefully, the more details he recalled.
"He’s not from our school." The young man shook his head, then began to ponder, "Could it be someone I made a feud with at the pub?"
But after muttering, the young man shook his head again, "No way, I only go to pubs under Big Brother’s banner. In the pub, everyone knows me, and even for Big Brother’s sake, no one will dare to trouble me, let alone ambush me from behind late at night."
"Didn’t you fire a few shots at the other person?" James Black casually responded, "By then, won’t you know who it was? Is the injury on your waist manageable? Do you need medicine or should we go to the hospital?"
"Apply medicine first." The young man still felt alarmed, "Once it’s morning and daylight, we’ll see about going to the hospital. Use the external wound medicine you got for Jane Sampson on me, please."
James Black acknowledged, turned around, and went upstairs to fetch the stuff for the young man.
While guessing in his mind, at this time point, who would be taking such a dark hand against the young man?
What deep-seated animosity does that person have with the young man?
In all honesty, in two days they planned to send Jane Sampson away, so James Black was not too keen on any unexpected situations beyond their plan arising.
