CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 170 - 178: The Game Begins
Sasha seemed to have recognized Julie Sampson’s ability in this respect, so later on, she didn’t give Julie any special treatment anymore.
According to the script added at the last minute, after the first round of introductions, there was a warm-up game also added on the spot, consisting of eight honored guests and two audience members drawn from the crowd, making a total of ten people who played a live version of Who is the Undercover.
Ten people, three undercovers, and seven civilians. Mr. Humming dealt the cards, and in order to maintain the game’s brain-burning nature, not even the audience knew what cards each player was holding.
This time the players stood in random order; Jane Sampson stood at position five during the game, with elder brother Hugo Edwards right in front of her and a female audience member from the scene behind her.
William Rivers, who stood in the first position, naturally started the game off.
After Mr. Humming announced the start of the game, William Rivers crossed his hands and thought for a few seconds before speaking, "This is something that can be served as a hot or cold drink."
As the most challenging beginning, after William Rivers spoke, everyone looked at each other with varying expressions.
Second was Alexander SkyShaw who was a bit more direct with a short statement, "This is a type of tea with color."
He straightforwardly exposed what William Rivers had been referring to; indeed, it was a type of tea.
Third was Sophie Young, who blinked playfully and said, "Often seen in advertisements." Then she lifted her card slightly towards the audience, causing a roar of laughter from the crowd.
Following was Hugo Edwards, who stood right before Jane. Big Brother held the microphone and took a good ten seconds before he read a verse with a mysterious tone, "After my flower blooms, I shall slay all the others."
As soon as Hugo Edwards finished, a chorus of "oh’s" emanated from the group. Jane Sampson quietly gauged everyone’s reaction, then glanced down at her own card which read chrysanthemum tea.
"It’s Jane’s turn!" Mr. Humming called Jane Sampson’s name and with a sneaky expression teased, "I noticed that when Mr. Edwards finished reading that verse just now, Jane sneaked a peek at her own card, her expression even more inscrutable than Mr. Edwards’s."
Teased by Mr. Humming, Jane couldn’t help but smile awkwardly and then spoke her clue, "This tea comes both cheap and expensive."
The female audience member behind Jane, clearly excited, took the microphone from Jane and said, "There is a word in this tea that we often use to describe making an embarrassingly big mistake."
Hearing this, Jane Sampson slightly bowed her head, using the gesture to subtly conceal her facial expression. Everyone was focusing on the clue from the seventh person, and nobody noticed Jane’s reaction.
After one round, it was time to vote for the first person to be eliminated. The female audience member behind Jane was exhilarated and pointing towards Mr. Edwards exclaimed, "Mr. Edwards! I choose Mr. Edwards!"
The people in front also directly chose Mr. Edwards, and Jane Sampson followed suit, raising her hand to point at Mr. Edwards as well.
Last to vote was William Chip, observing that everyone had voted for Mr. Edwards, he too pointed in Mr. Edwards’s direction. "In the first round, Mr. Edwards is unanimously eliminated." Mr. Humming couldn’t straighten up from laughter, "This is the first time in the history of playing this game on this stage that someone has been eliminated so uniformly, regardless of whether Mr. Edwards is an undercover or a civilian. Alright, the game continues."
Mr. Edwards shrugged his shoulders with a resigned look and stood next to Mr. Humming. He teased at the few honored guests over there with the microphone, "Young people these days are getting less and less honest."
