Instead of going home and packing up, Tom went to a nearby pub to grab a few drinks just enough to make him sleep tonight. He is sure that taking a bath won’t cool off the heat that his body is having for Amy, he needs something stronger. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

He was enjoying his own company sitting alone in far most corner of the bar thinking about his next move when Theo’s bodyguard sat beside him.

"Hey, you here too? I apologize in advance for prying but you’ve got some nasty scars there. It reminds me of the day of the explosion in your boss’ wellsite. What happened to you, if you don’t mind." the bodyguard said as he invited himself to sit beside Tom.

"You know about it? Something similar happened to me. Got it from trying to save some people in my previous job," Tom replied.

"Oh, you are brave, proud of you man. Well, I was just a newly hired bodyguard at that time, when the explosion happened. A lot died, including Mr. Welsh. Some survived but died years after, they got sick because of the fumes. You will know more about it, I heard Mr. Brighton will arrive tomorrow, right?" The bodyguard then signaled the bartender for his order.

"You sure know a lot, huh?" Tom sarcastically said but the bodyguard did not catch it.

"People talk and I can’t help it, I am always there when they do. Wait a minute, I heard Mrs. Brighton fired you earlier, is that why you are here by yourself?"

"No, I am still employed. I just moved here so I don’t know anyone yet. I have been busy sorting my things from Brookegrove," Tom said.

"Oh! Mr. Brighton will be coming from there tomorrow. I like that man, he is really nice to everyone. He even brought his fiance to Brookegrove to find a good doctor who could cure her but the terrible lady still broke up with him after all that he had done. But good thing he got married to the former Mrs. Welsh. It happened so fast, all we knew was that they already had a son.

We never saw her pregnant though, but perhaps they hid it that’s why she stayed in Brookegrove for some time. Have you seen the boy? So cute and looks nothing like his mom, he got his hair from his dad though," The bodyguard continued blabbering but Tom was already lost in his thought and not listening to him anymore.

’Why didn’t I check it when I was there? So why Amy? Why did you marry Ash when you still utter Henry’s name when you’re drunk? How can you sleep with another man while still in love with another?’ Tom was consumed by his thoughts and unknowingly drank more than he planned.

He got so drunk that he didn’t even know how he got home. All he knew was that he woke up with a terrible headache and was already late for work. He was way, way late but fortunately, his boss was still sleeping when he arrived at the mansion the next day.

"Thank goodness you are here. I thought you were not coming anymore. Tony and Dave are on a day off and no one else is eligible to drive here," Charles effused before gesturing for Tom to follow him.

"Tony and Dave?" Tom asked, urging Charles to give more details.

"Oh yes, Tony is the Walker sister’s driver while Dave is the driver of the kids. You will meet them on Monday. Your room is next to theirs," Charles said as he showed him his room. "Once you settle in go to the maid’s quarter so you can have an early lunch, the Madam is still sleeping but I will wake her up at noon so she can eat with the kids before you go to the airport," Charles stated before leaving Tom.

"Tony, Dave, I am looking forward to meeting you," Tom murmured to himself as he unpacked his things.

Amy covered the red marks on her neck and chest with thick makeup hoping that no one will ever notice them. She can’t remember how she got it but it look like kiss marks, but then she is not with someone so she believes it was the bed bugs.

On her way to the dining room, she saw Tom reading something on his phone while sitting on one of the benches in the hallway waiting for him. He quickly stood up and greeted her as soon as he heard her footsteps.

"Wait for me in the car, I will just eat lunch then we will be going. Look for Mitch, she will be going with us. And oh, tell Charles to have someone check my bed and room, I think there are bed bugs in there. I woke up with red marks, they definitely feasted on me last night," Amy instructed before leaving Tom.

Tom tried so hard to stop himself from smirking, knowing how she got those red marks, ’Did she really not remember anything last night? Or she’s just pretending?’ Tom asked himself before looking for Mitch and Charles.

"Mommy!" Tommy exclaimed after she entered the dining room where everybody was except for her.

"Good morning, handsome! I heard you were a good boy, you helped Grandpa with the tents," Amy said hugging her son.

"Yes, I did. But Lia doesn’t want to help at all!" Tommy exclaimed while glaring at his twin sister.

"It’s ok darling, Lia will help Grandpa with cooking later, right Lia?" Amy asked and Lia happily nodded while smiling wide and chewing her food.

"Mommy, can I go with you?" Tommy asked as he cutely pouted his lips and fluttered his eyes at Amy, hoping to get a yes.

"I’m sorry darling, but we won’t fit in the car, plus you and Grandpa Robert need to finish the tents remember? But I promise to bring something back for everyone, alright?" Tommy nodded and went back to his seat.

Amy took the seat at the very end where Henry used to sit as the master of the house, ’Everybody is here, my love, something that you will like to see,’ she thought as she gazed at her children, cousins, and friends before digging in.

Mary and Anton have been staying in the mansion since Anton sold his penthouse a year after the explosion. Theo is still constructing their mansion and will be moving there very soon. Something that Amy wishes not to happen so her best friend could stay with her forever, only if she could.

Mary has never left her after Henry died, who moved back to the mansion the same day and has helped her stand on her feet again. She couldn’t thank her enough and promised herself to do the same if ever Mary would need her someday.
