"You have an impressive recommendation from Mr. Wilson, Mr. White," Rei praised while reading the employment recommendation letter that Jonathan wrote for Tom.

Tom scratched the back of his head and smiled awkwardly, "I think Mr. Wilson exaggerated the letter a bit, hehe," Tom said causing Rei to smirk at how Tom laughed at himself.

"I have to warn you though, the person you will work with is a bit challenging. A huge amount of patience is needed. Would you be up for the task?" Rei asked.

Tom frowned not understanding what Rei meant, he knew that he would be driving for the owner of Welsh Holdings, Inc., and she was a grown woman so why would he need a huge amount of patience for that?

But of course, Tom badly wanted and needed the job, "Yes, Sir, I am up for it. As Mr. Wilson said, I am a very patient and hard-working man, something that both of us can agree with."

"Very well, let us go to Mrs. Brighton so I can introduce you," Rei then stood up and closed the button of his suit.

"Mrs. Brighton? I think there was a misunderstanding sir, I applied as a driver bodyguard of Mrs. Amelia Welsh," Tom said in confusion.

"Yes, I know. She remarried and is now known as Mrs. Amelia Brighton. Follow me," Rei headed towards Amy’s office, which was the former office of Henry, and Tom silently followed him.

When they reached Amy’s office they saw Mitch talking to Amy’s security team with an angry voice.

"Oh no, it’s Friday... tsk, tsk, tsk," Rei uttered, puzzling Tom.

"Sir? Is there something wrong?" Tom asked while watching Mitch scold Amy’s bodyguards.

Rei sighed heavily before answering, "Brace yourself," he said, before approaching Mitch. "Mitch, this is Tom, the new driver-bodyguard of Amy. Shall I send him home or start misery?" Ash jested, causing Mitch to glare at him.

"He can start today. She’s with Maya fortunately, so we have her location but she sneaked out and texted Maya where they will meet. Theo will pick them up but your new hire can pick up Amy later after I brief him," Mitch before extending her hand to Tom. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

"Thomas White Ma’am," Tom greeted while shaking hands with Mitch.

"Drop the formality, call me Mitch and I will call you Tom, how’s that?" Mitch gave him a wide smile trying to be nice but Tom saw the curiosity behind her gaze.

"Forgive me if I look scary, I try to mellow it down by wearing these," Tom said referring to his sunglasses and black face mask.

Mitch smiled awkwardly and waved her hands while scolding herself inwardly for being too obvious with her thoughts, "No, no, not scary at all, but do you mind me asking what happened? Why do you have so many scars? Did you fight a gang or something?" Mitch joked to lighten up the mood.

Tom chuckled, "Not really. The factory I was working for before burned down and a lot of people got trapped. I helped some and ended with these burn scars. Now I wear them proudly but decided to cover them a bit to avoid scaring people and to not get too much attention."

"I understand, now please follow me, let me orient you a bit before you go to Amy. I don’t want to send you to war without any weapon," Mitch said before bidding farewell to Rei and taking Tom with her.

"Mitch, can I ask you a question?" Tom uttered, and Mitch quickly nodded.

"Is Mrs. Brighton a terror boss?" Tom mumbled which Mitch found funny.

"Don’t listen to Rei, he was just exaggerating. Amy is a good person. I have been working for her for six years now. It’s just that she’s going through something and I am sure she will be back to normal once she overcomes it," Mitch said before opening the door beside Amy’s office.

"You can stay here when Amy is working so you can do your reports and check Amy’s schedule. You will also have access to the security cameras here so this computer is your best friend while you are in the building. As her main bodyguard, you also have access to the profile of people that she comes in contact with. These have been compiled over the years by Rei and me," Mitch stated.

"Wow, this is too much for a security measure for a businesswoman," Tom voiced out while checking out the files that Mitch was showing him.

"Rei is very protective of Amy and her kids. We all are, she is like family to us. And we don’t want any harm to befall her or her children."

"Children? I thought she had no kids. That’s what I heard from Mr. Wilson. Although he said he is not sure as well since he lost contact with Mrs. Welsh after Mr. Welsh died," Tom asked.

"Yes, she has kids, you will see that in her profile which is your homework. And she goes by Mrs. Brighton now. She is married to Mr. Asher Brighton of Brighton Industries, so don’t make a mistake. She gets angry when someone calls her Mrs. Welsh, don’t get in trouble on your first day," Mitch warned.

"That is noted, Mitch. How many kids does she have? I mean I need to know these things right?" Tom hesitated to ask at first but he did anyway.

"Yes, you must know all the basic information about them. To answer your question, she has five kids. Well, three legally, the two are her nephew and niece, but she treats them as her kids, so don’t be mistaken on that.

They are Jayson who is fifteen and Jena who is eleven. Then there’s Tommy and Lia, they are four, and little Avery is two years old. Oh! Before I forget let me just get the key of the car that you will use, stay here, and find this location in the GPS, that’s where you will pick her up later," Mitch said before leaving Tom.

Tom clenched his fist after opening one of the image files in the folder that Mitch asked him to read. It is the picture of Amy and Ash together with the five children that Mitch had mentioned.

He stared at it for quite some time while feeling the pain in his heart. It was as if his chest is being stabbed by blunt knives over and over as he look at Amy’s smile, looking happy with her family.
