CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 324: Danger
Before the explosion in the refinery...
Amy’s land was vast and not all of it was barren land, there are some parts that has occasional vegetation, and that is where Ava and Ash chose to park their tiny house on wheels to take advantage of both the shade of the trees on it and the sun in the open space for their solar system.
The location is not that far from the refinery but not too close as well, so they decided to sell Ash’s car and keep Ava’s for they could get more money if they do that. They also bought a gold cart that could help them save them from going back and forth to their house and office.
Their finances were doing well, Ava was very good at bookkeeping and making sure that they will spend money on unnecessary things while they are still not earning from the refinery. Ash had praised himself multiple times for making the right decision in making Ava her partner for the company is doing well.
They have gained clients already who placed advance orders once the refinery is up and running. Almost half of the clients that Ash took to Brighton Industries already gave notice to Lucas that they will no longer renew the contract since they are already planning to switch to another supplier which is Ash.
Ash knows that once the refinery is up and running, they will gain more clients, and this is thanks to Ava’s skill in convincing people. She is just so persuasive that people had a hard time saying no.
Ever since they moved into Amy’s land, it became a habit for Ava to cook for Ash regardless of how busy she is, she will make time to cook for him whether it’s just a simple dish or an extravagant one.
Every day is a busy day at their office. They already have a few essential personnel to help them run the company including a secretary for Ash since Ava has a long of things to do as well.
It was almost lunchtime and Ava decided to just cook a simple seafood pasta and serve some fruit salad for lunch so she can go back to work right away.
"Hon, it’s almost lunchtime, I’ll just cook something quick for us. Call me if you need something ok?" Ava said before leaving Ash in their temporary container office, heading to their tiny house on wheels.
She arrived at the tiny house in no time but realized that she had forgotten her phone on her desk and she would need that if she wants to do the recipe she found on the internet in the right way.
So Ava decided to boil the water for the noodles before she goes back to her office to get her phone.
From afar before reaching the refinery she saw cars and men in business suits that she assumes are personal bodyguards since she was one, herself back then. But her real question was if whose bodyguards are they?
Ava hurriedly went to the office only to hear Lucas and Ash talking inside...
Ava stood by the door and listened to the conversation of the father and son.
"Not so fast, let me see that message before I believe you." She heard Ash said.
Ava heard Lucas cursing and soon heard Ash talk again. "Vanessa here, Dimitri hired men to kill Ash and Henry tomorrow. Please inform them ASAP!" She heard Ash once more and seems like he was reading something from the way he spoke.
’Shit Henry!’ Ava wasted no time in running out of that office to go to Henry.
She came across Ash’s secretary who was carrying a pile of documents and she quickly stop her from going further, "Linda, do me a favor, please go to my house and turn off the stove, I don’t want my house to burn down.
And before the secretary can reply, Ava already stormed off, heading to the wellsite. She knows that today Henry will be at the drilling station as Amy’s replacement in doing her weekly routine of checking if the operations there are doing well.
There are four drill stations and Ava has no idea where Henry is, so she started with the one nearest the main gate thinking that Henry would check that one first. Unfortunately, he was not there and the people there said that he was done with his inspections there an hour ago.
Ava ran to the second drilling station and saw Theo, she pushed the pedal at full speed and honk her golf cart’s horn loudly causing not only Theo but everyone in the area to look at her.
"Theo! Where is Henry?" She quickly asks before even jumping out of the golf cart making Theo frown.
"He is inside just talking to some engineers but he is done wi–"
"He is in danger, call security, NOW!" Ava then runs inside the station to look for Henry.
Theo, seeing the panic on Ava’s face run to the nearest guard booth to alert everyone. He knows how capable Ava is a s bodyguard before and even if she’s no longer one now, he still trusts her judgment making him believe her right away.
"Code Red! Code Red! Lock the gates and inspect everyone! There’s a death threat on–"
***BOOM!!!***
Theo was not able to finish his orders as he lost consciousness before dropping to the ground.
********
Before the explosion in the second drill site...
Ava found Henry talking to someone and with all her might, she called for his name, "Henry!!! Come with me now! Your life is in danger!"
Henry turned around to look at her, "Ava? What did you say?" Henry asked utterly surprised to see her in that place and confused after hearing what she said.
"I will get back to you later," Henry said to the engineer he was talking to before walking towards Ava who was running to him.
She grabbed his arm and dragged him towards the exit, "Run Henry, Dimitri is going to kill you. You need to get to safety first," Ava said loudly making sure Henry’s security heard her loud and clear.
But as soon as they stepped out of the pumping station, the loud sound made them deaf, and a strong force pushed them all to the ground making them lose consciousness.
The next thing Ava knows is that she can hear Ash’s voice calling her name but she’s too tired to even open her eyes. Ash’s voice really sounded worried and in panic. Soon she started to feel pain... every part of her body hurts, she screamed and wailed but still, she did not open her eyes. Her eyelids were too heavy and she suddenly feel sleepy and soon she drifted off to sleep.
