CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 285: Not Yet Over You
Prior to everyone leaving the office and ending their week in anticipation of the upcoming weekend, Amy ensured she will not miss Ava and talk with her before she heads towards her husband’s office.
Having carefully considered her decision and being confident that Henry would place trust in her intentions, Amy used the intercom to request Mitch to send Ava to her office.
Upon spotting the open door to Amy’s office, Ava proceeded directly to her, prompting her with the question, "Mitch mentioned that you were looking for me?" Ava inquired upon entering Amy’s office.
"Yes, please close the door. This is an important matter," Amy said, causing Ava to feel nervous.
Ava still believed that it was her fault for the assumption that Amy was pregnant, and she had made up her mind to address the issue directly with Amy.
After closing the door, Ava promptly expressed her remorse, saying, "I’m truly sorry for the confusion caused. It was never my intention to mislead anyone, especially your husband."
Amy chuckled, leaving Ava curious as to the reason. "It’s not about that," Amy replied. "The pregnancy speculation is in the past, let’s forget about it. I wanted to discuss something else. Please take a seat first." Amy then gestured for Ava to sit on the sofa beside her.
"I need you to be discreet about this because I haven’t informed Henry yet, although I believe he will be fine with it," Amy explained. "Brighton Industry has secured an exclusive contract with Dimitri Turner and his oil company, and I’m determined to finalize a deal with them.
Ash’s family happens to own one of the oil refineries in the country, and they have connections with numerous potential clients whom I wish to meet and establish business relationships with. I want to become one of their suppliers." Amy elaborated.
Ava’s mind spirals into panic as she tries to decipher the reason behind Amy divulging all this information. Will Amy ask her to spy on Ash or become a messenger once again? Ava desperately wants to avoid being caught in the crossfire between the two once friends. She also worries that if Amy and Ash meet again, Ash’s feelings for Amy might resurface.
Whenever either of their names is mentioned, Ava can’t help but feel insecure. She knows she can never replace Amy in Ash’s heart or be like her.
Amy notices Ava’s increasing anxiety as she discusses her plans, and she realizes that it involves Ash. Amy realizes she can no longer keep it to herself and must inform Ava if she wants the poor girl to relax.
Ava was taken aback as Amy grasped her hands tightly, causing her to feel startled. "Ava, don’t be nervous. Your tension is quite obvious. I already know about you and Ash. I him pick you up the other day and you have no idea how overjoyed I am for both of you. You’ve fulfilled my lifelong wish for him," Amy said, her face adorned with a smile, causing tears to well up in Ava’s eyes.
"I’m deeply sorry for not telling you earlier. I believed it wasn’t the right time," Ava managed to say, her voice quivering.
"No apologies necessary, Ava. Both of you are my dear friends, and I couldn’t be any happier for you," Amy reassured a warm smile on her face. "I’ll let you in on a little secret... You’re his first girlfriend, but shh, don’t tell him I told you," she giggled, and Ava joined in.
"Oh, that’s no surprise to me. I’ve noticed his lack of experience," Ava joked, but Amy understood the underlying meaning and covered her mouth with both hands in surprise before they both erupted into laughter.
"Okay, let’s get back to what you were saying. What exactly do you need me to do?" Ava inquired.
"I want to ask if Ash would be open to meeting with me. Henry has forbidden me from seeing him, not because he’s still angry with him, but because he believes that Ash seeing me might impact your relationship. That’s why I wanted to inform you and ask for your permission," Amy explained.
You don’t have to answer this now, think about it. You can discuss it with Ash if you want to. But I need your answer soon since this is a business matter and I can’t wait forever, I hope you understand, Ava. And I promise that whatever your decision will be, I will not take any offense, I will understand," Amy sincerely said, showing her genuine understanding of their situation, and giving full consideration about the matter.
Ava nodded before saying, "Don’t worry, Amy, I fully understand what you are saying. I will gauge him first to see if he is ok with discussing you. I must admit Amy, he is not yet over you, he said that himself. There’s still confusion within him, and I understand that. It is not easy letting go of something that you have held on to and cherish for years," Ava explained, expressing empathy toward Ash’s emotions.
"Ok, take your time. The wellsite is not complete yet so that’s our timeframe. We need to solve this before it becomes operational and before Henry decides to start the bidding process for the refining contract," Amy mentioned.
As Ava departed from Amy’s office, a sense of lightness and happiness enveloped her. She realized there was no longer a need to keep her relationship with Ash a secret from Amy. The burden of being cautious and hiding their connection had been lifted, providing Ava with a profound sense of relief.
Mitch noticed the change in mood of Ava, who was nervous a while ago, and of course, she couldn’t help but ask, "You must tell me what happened in there."
"Nothing happened, Mitch, I’m just happy," Ava said.
"Ok, I’ll change my question then. Why are you happy?" Mitch questioned after rolling her eyes.
"Because... my boyfriend is coming to pick me up," Ava giggled, grabbing her bag. "Bye, Mitch!" she exclaimed, leaving Mitch with her jaw dropped as he sat at her desk.
