CEO, Your Wife Has Left-Chapter 96: Kenneth
After Dominic Thorne left, Kenneth tried to kiss Summer Lancaster again, but she turned him down. The doctor had said not to let him get too excited. Kenneth insisted he was fine, but Summer quickly scrambled off the bed, saying, "We have to listen to the doctor..."
Kenneth had no choice but to lie back down on the bed, a displeased look on his face. ’Is the doctor always right? I have a medical license too, so why won’t she listen to me? Besides, Summer’s the one who started this fire, and now she’s backing out right when things were getting good.’
Summer Lancaster carried the porridge Dominic Thorne had bought over to the bedside, but Kenneth looked away, refusing to meet her eyes.
"Kenny-Ken, don’t be mad, okay? You need to get better soon. The company can’t function without its president!" Summer Lancaster said, scooping up some porridge and holding it to his lips.
Kenneth finally turned his head to look at her. "What did you just call me?"
"Kenny-Ken!" Summer Lancaster replied, her voice both clear and gentle.
Kenneth scowled, pouted, and rolled his eyes. "That name..."
"What’s wrong with it?" Summer Lancaster cut him off, setting the bowl of porridge down.
"It’s... not bad!"
"Well, since you think the name’s not bad, Kenny-Ken, how about you eat your porridge..."
"Wait a second. You just said the company can’t be without its president. But what about you?" Kenneth still wasn’t playing along, refusing the porridge she offered.
"And I can’t be without my husband," Summer Lancaster replied earnestly, looking him right in the eye.
"That’s more like it," he said. "Bring the porridge here. You’re feeding me."
Summer Lancaster couldn’t help but laugh at his bossy, childish behavior. She brought the porridge over and started to feed him. But after the first spoonful, Kenneth reached out, pulled her close, and kissed her, transferring the porridge from his mouth to hers!
"What are you doing!" Summer Lancaster exclaimed, touching her lips in astonishment. ’Even though they were married, she was still taken aback by such a bold move. But she didn’t find it disgusting. In fact, it felt incredibly sweet!’
"We’re sharing the porridge!"
"I can eat it myself!" Summer Lancaster mumbled, blushing as she lowered her head. ’She could still feel the lingering taste of his kiss.’
And so, breakfast ended up taking nearly two hours...
Summer Lancaster stayed at the hospital with him, chatting and peeling apples for him. But what was with all these moments that made her blush and her heart race? ’Besides, Summer was a patient too, and the company had already approved her leave. And even if they hadn’t, with the big boss right here, who would dare say a word?’
Around ten o’clock, Gregory Lancaster arrived with his wife and daughter to visit Kenneth. Summer Lancaster was in the restroom, so she didn’t see them come in.
"Kenneth, are you feeling any better?" Gregory Lancaster asked warmly, while Audrey Adler and Yvonne Lancaster hovered behind him with forced smiles.
"I’m fine now. Thank you for your concern."
"About the other day... I’m so sorry about what happened with Summer. It was a moment of impulse. I just hope she understands that a father sometimes has to make difficult choices for the right reasons!" Gregory Lancaster said, feeling too guilty to look Kenneth in the eye. ’If Summer Lancaster had already told Kenneth about it, they would be in serious trouble. It was better for him to bring it up himself and just skim past it.’
"What are you talking about?"
"Ah, well, it was about Yvonne’s..."
"Oh, that." Kenneth cut Gregory Lancaster off. "I know all about it. I wonder, what are your thoughts on the matter, Audrey? If I hadn’t come back and saved Summer Lancaster that day, what exactly were you planning to do to her?" His gaze bypassed Gregory, landing menacingly on Audrey Adler and Yvonne Lancaster, who were huddled in the corner.
"Ha... Kenneth, it was all a misunderstanding. I’ve already asked them about it. It’s possible Summer was mistaken!"
"A misunderstanding?" A humorless smile played on Kenneth’s lips as he glanced at them. "I’ve already investigated the matter thoroughly. Those thugs are at the police station right now."
