CEO Ex-Husband, Don't Bother Me-Chapter 146 - 133: A Soft Heart
But it seemed enemies were destined to cross paths. Just as she was about to step into a real estate agency, she saw Juliet Jennings walking out. Perhaps all celebrities were like that, dressed in a fashionable outfit and wearing oversized sunglasses.
Holding Joy, she lowered her head, planning to ignore Juliet. But of course, Juliet wouldn’t ignore her. "Naomi Shaw, don’t tell me you’re here looking for an apartment?"
Naomi recalled the photos of Julian Donovan with Juliet and frowned. Even though Julian had explained everything, she still felt uneasy. But she was in a hurry to find an apartment and couldn’t be bothered with Juliet, who continued to speak with an air of smug superiority. "I’m here to look at places, too. Oh, the weather in Wincastle is so lovely—warm in the winter and cool in the summer. With the man I love here, I plan on settling down in Wincastle for good!"
"Whoever you love, and whoever you’re settling down here for, has absolutely nothing to do with me!"
Perhaps it was from spending so much time with Willow Summers, but she had picked up the phrase from her. Saying it felt incredibly satisfying.
With that, she hugged Joy and walked straight into the agency. Behind her, Juliet gritted her teeth in anger. ’That Naomi Shaw... she looks so gentle and easy to bully, but her words can really choke you. It was like that at the airport, and it’s the same now. She’s infuriating!’
Once in her car, she called Wendy Lowe. "Mr. Lowe, have you been so busy you’ve forgotten all about Wincastle?"
’I really thought Wendy Lowe would take action immediately after my last call,’ she fumed. ’I can’t believe I’ve waited this long with no news. I heard Julian Donovan has been pursuing Naomi relentlessly. If this keeps up, what am I going to do if they actually get back together?’
"I’m here now, aren’t I? I just landed at the Wincastle airport. Let’s get together tonight. We can discuss our plans in detail."
Hearing Wendy Lowe’s words, a smile finally touched Juliet’s lips. She shot a vicious glare in the direction of the real estate agency, agreed to the plan, hung up, and drove away.
The path of life is never smooth, but she was straying further and further from the righteous road. Her fate may have been rewritten when she was first forced to sleep her way up by Wendy Lowe, but if not for her insatiable greed, how could she have been so easily used?
In life, many things come and go. One should be calm in gain and philosophical in loss. An unquiet heart invites turmoil and inevitably leads to losing much more.
As soon as Naomi entered the agency, an agent greeted her enthusiastically. When she said she was looking to rent, the agent immediately presented several options. She asked about the rent a bit sheepishly, and when he quoted a price, she was stunned. "It’s that cheap?"
’I looked up the rental prices around here online, and they were at least double this,’ she thought. ’Why is it so cheap? Is this a scam? But this is a well-known national real estate chain. They wouldn’t try to cheat me, would they?’
The agent seemed to notice her concern and smiled. "The housing market is in a slump right now, so landlords have lowered their prices. Any rent is better than no rent, right? Better than letting the place sit empty!"
Of course, they had to play along. Someone had already paid for the other half of the rent for a full year.
"Oh, I see..."
Naomi didn’t really understand the market, and the agent’s expression didn’t seem deceptive, so she lowered her head and started picking out a few listings to go see.
’Honestly, I have no idea what I’m doing,’ she thought. ’Back in Thailos, the housing was all arranged. When I came to Wincastle, I moved straight into Sean Donovan’s house. I’m completely lost.’ But there was no other way. From now on, she had to rely on herself and learn how to handle everything on her own.
Seeing that she was taking a long time to decide, the agent kindly recommended two places. She was very grateful. Carrying Joy, she followed him to see the apartments. The two units he had selected were both south-facing, two-bedroom apartments. There were no smaller units available, and she couldn’t afford anything larger, so these were her only options.
Both apartments were lovely—sunny, clean, and tidy. The decor in one was a bit ornate and dated, so she chose the other, which had a fresher, simpler layout. After paying the deposit, she took Joy home to start packing. Next, she would have to call a moving company.
She had intended to let Sean Donovan know, but she couldn’t get through to his phone. She gave up and decided she would move out tomorrow and just give him the keys on Monday. She’d always known she was a decisive person. She was that way when she left Julian Donovan, and she was the same way now about moving.
