CEO Ex-Husband, Don't Bother Me-Chapter 132 - 125: An Entertaining Story
’A pang of sadness hit her at the thought.’ She lowered her eyes. "I don’t know what you like anymore. You should pick out your own clothes. I’m going downstairs."
For years, she had known his every preference like the back of her hand, which was why she’d had the confidence to take care of everything for him. But three years had passed, and now he felt like a stranger.
With that, she turned and walked out, leaving Julian Donovan behind. Watching her go, he felt an even heavier weight of guilt in his heart.
After getting ready, he went downstairs. Dylan, looking refreshed and energetic, was sitting at the dining table. He glanced over as his father approached and commented coolly, "When you get old, your stamina really tanks. Can’t believe you slept in this late."
He sat down at the table and shot the little devil an annoyed glare. ’As for his stamina,’ he thought, ’his mother would have to be the one to personally verify it.’
After breakfast, Julian Donovan planned to head to the office. Although he had handed over most of the work in Thailos to Arnold and Ken, he was still the one in charge, and some matters required his personal attention. Naomi Shaw’s cold had improved, but she was still weak, so Julian Donovan told her to rest at home. They could arrange to meet Lara Nash and her boyfriend the next day.
Julian Donovan was just about to step outside when his phone rang. His expression grew solemn as he answered. "I understand. I’m on my way," he said into the phone. After hanging up, he turned to Naomi Shaw, his face full of apology. "Naomi, I’m sorry, but I can’t stay here with you any longer. Something urgent’s come up, and I have to leave right away."
Naomi Shaw shook her head gently. "It’s okay. Go do what you need to do."
’She knew better than anyone that he was a very busy man. It wasn’t as if she absolutely needed him to stay. Subconsciously, a part of her didn’t even want him to. He was always saying such sweet things and making such intimate gestures now, and she didn’t want to let her heart fall for him so quickly.’
Julian Donovan gave her an apologetic look, then turned to go upstairs and pack. He only took a few steps before turning back, taking her hand, and pulling her up the stairs with him. "What are you doing?" she asked, confused.
’If he needed to pack, he could just go pack. He’d done it by himself when he arrived, after all.’
Julian Donovan didn’t answer. He just pulled her into his bedroom and shut the door, immediately pressing her against it. He found her lips with a sense of urgency, his kiss a mixture of reluctance to leave and intense affection that tangled with her soft, sweet mouth. Trapped in his embrace, she could only passively accept it. He didn’t let go until they were both breathless. Gazing intently into her eyes, he panted and declared in her ear, "Don’t forget what you said last night!"
She knew he was referring to her promise to give him a chance. She looked at him and answered softly, "I know..."
Satisfied with her affirmative response, Julian Donovan finally released her and turned to pack his things. A driver took him to the airport, while Naomi Shaw, Dylan, and Joy remained in Thailos.
The next day, Naomi Shaw left Dylan and Joy in Mrs. Sommers’s care and went to meet Lara Nash by herself. Of course, Lara brought the man with her. He was around their age, stylishly dressed, and very handsome, but Naomi couldn’t shake the feeling that he had the roguish air of a playboy.
"So, you must be the famous Naomi that our Lara is always talking about?"
The man gave her a big, enthusiastic hug the moment they met before saying this, which made Naomi Shaw feel quite awkward. Then, hearing him so casually say "our Lara" sent a pang through her heart.
Lara, who was standing nearby, didn’t hesitate to kick him. "Show some respect! This is my best friend. You can flirt with anyone you want, but if you mess with her, be careful Julian Donovan doesn’t kill you!"
The man clutched his leg and cried out, "Come on, could you be a little gentler? Or at least use less force? Are you trying to cripple me?"
Lara snorted and ignored him, pulling Naomi Shaw to sit beside her. The man sat down across from them. Since they were in a tea house, he played the gentleman, asking what they wanted to drink and then signaling for a waiter.
Naomi Shaw studied the man again. He and Lara really did make a good-looking couple. He also seemed very cheerful, a completely different type from the somewhat reserved Ronan Joyce. He was talkative and humorous, and by the end of their afternoon tea, he had both Naomi and Lara laughing nonstop.
