CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror-Chapter 169: Government Contract
"An organization? That will cost a lot of credits." Becky frowned.
"Not really." Mater spoke up. "To register a Psychic Organization, all you need is five or more psychics and a registration form.
You can submit a registration form at the Department of Supernatural Interference."
Mater knew this from the information he had collected in the ACPD internal database.
"Having a Psychic Organization is a good thing," The black cat continued, "You may be prioritized for certain bounties. You can access specialized equipment stores that the government only opens to Psychic Organization. Of course, there are also private and independent markets as well. But they take quite a big commission compared to the government one.
The most valuable aspect of Psychic Organization, however, is Government Contract."
Loretta and Beck stared at Mater intensively as he explained everything. Luckily there weren’t that many people in the restaurant right now. Or else they would have had a heart attack seeing a cat giving a speech.
"What is a Government Contract, Mr. Mater?" Selina said.
"On the Bounty Hunting Site, there are only four hunter ranks. Iron. Bronze. Silver. And Gold.
Gold Hunters are as powerful as Hazard-level NCEs. But there is a third NCE rank, correct?"
Becky nodded, "Disaster-level..."
"Disaster-level is equivalent to Platinum Hunter. You won’t be able to find Platinum Rank Bounties on the Bounty Hunting Website. Platinum and above missions are available as private Government Contracts only."
"I think we’re getting ahead of ourselves here. I just got to Bronze Rank a few days ago," Loretta said.
The black cat grinned widely, revealing its white teeth. "You have to make a choice here, Loretta..."
Selina nodded and said, "We will reach Platinum sooner or later. If you accompany us on this path, you will certainly be Platinum as well. Or you can choose to stay as a low-level Psychic forever."
Loretta was an arrogant woman. She was arrogant the first time she met Selina. But she was soon humbled by how everyone else had excelled her. It broke her confidence.
"Can I really become stronger?" Loretta’s lips trembled gently.
"Señorita..." The black cat caressed Loretta’s cheek, "If you become my woman, the only place for you is at the top of the mountain. I will make you stronger."
"Heh..." Loretta breathed out.
Suddenly, she widened her eyes and shook her head.
"What do you mean to become your woman? We’re talking about creating a Psychic Organization here?"
Mater rolled his eyes, "My mistake. I meant becoming a member of my organization."
’That cat definitely didn’t think that...’ Becky thought to herself.
"Well. I guess there is nothing bad about creating an Organization. What do you think, Becky?" Loretta said.
"I’m joining. She’s the fastest growing Psychic I’ve ever seen. I’m not going to pass this opportunity."
"It is decided then. For now, we just need to continue growing. Me and Becky are going to the Institute so we will be busy for a while." Selina said. "We can talk about it further once all of us have reached Hazard-level."
"We also need to find two more members." Becky said. "There’re only three of us."
"Yeah. And also that." Selina said.
The group separated after breakfast. Selina waved goodbye to Loretta and Becky.
Loretta was giving Becky a ride home.
"It’s weird. I don’t feel that tired." Selina said. She didn’t sleep the entire night and was busy fighting wraiths. But her body was fine.
"It’s your Chaos Singularity. The stronger you are, the less you will be subjected to the usual rules of the universe." The black cat meowed.
"Where should we go now?" Selina said.
"Let’s pay that lawyer a visit. We need to check his progress."
Justin Mei was entrusted by Mater and Selina to figure out a way to turn 2 million of their credits from ineligible to eligible.
With eligible credits, Mater could buy a permanent cold house for Aurora, the forge for Bash. Crow had developed a connection with Aaron Cage so keeping him in the crypt was better.
From what Mater heard about the Institute, studying there would be quite costly as well. Dr. Avaline made sure Selina didn’t need to pay for the tuition but she would still need credits for equipment and other things.
Everything needed money. It’s the same fact in every world. Wealth made everything smoother.
Selina stopped in front of a red light. A car stopped beside her. It was a convertible similar to Loretta’s. However, it looked much cheaper and less luxurious than hers.
On the other side, a black pick-up truck stopped.
In the pick-up truck was a couple, a young man and his girlfriend. They looked very young, probably still in school.
In the convertible was a group of young loud young men with very punch-able faces. They’re the typical troublemakers that were everywhere around the city.
In the driver seat of the convertible was a tall muscular man, he looked over to the pick-up truck.
"Hey, Jesse? Wanna race?"
The man in the pick-up truck ignored them. But then the other driver went further.
"What? Are you scared, chicken? Bak! Bak!"
Jesse turned over. His face was red. He was obviously holding it in.
"Fuck off, Mick!"
Mick stared at Jesse and raised his eyebrows sarcastically. Then Mick spotted Selina.
He was immediately enamored by her perfect frame. The tattoo on her chest was super inviting. The head of the black cat emerged through her collar.
"Hey, beautiful! Where’re you going?" Mick said. He licked his lips in a way that Mater couldn’t even understand.
"Is he trying to be intimidating or something..." The black cat meowed.
Selina tilted her head at Mick. "You should keep your mouth shut, asshole."
"Heh!" Mick pushed the car door open and approached Selina. He stood in front of her motorcycle.
"Or what? What are you going to do, bitch? You ain’t gonna do a thing!"
Crow’s voice reached Mater, "I know that voice, Master..."
"A friend of yours?" The black cat answered telepathically.
"Someone the me of my previous life hated." Crow answered.
The black cat immediately turned to Selina. It ran its paw over its neck, making a slicing the neck gesture.
Selina didn’t need more. She kicked the kickstand out, leaning the motorcycle to the side.
Before Mick could react, Selina punched the delinquent in the face.
